''Veronika, smile to the camera -- I want to record this moment, your very first steps.'' My dad said.

I looked up and noticed his phone in his hand, focused on me. I glared and shooed him away. ''Dad, I'm seventeen, not ten months old.''

I took a step without the boot for the first time in a long time and I felt myself wobble for a moment before steadying out. It felt weird walking without any restrictions again.

''There she goes.'' My dad said as I picked up the speed.

This time I was too happy to complain so I just smiled and then the video ended.

''How cute.'' Luke said with a teasing smile the following morning as my dad showed him the video.

''Shut up.'' I muttered, shooing him away.

He grinned in response and Harry, who had casually strolled inside and joined us for breakfast, nodded towards me while swallowing a piece of pancake. ''How's it feel being able to walk again?''

I turned and looked at him with a bit of shock from his question. He was usually picking on me, not asking me actual personal questions. Plus I had thought he was mad at me from yesterday, for what I don't know, he just seemed pissed off at the rink.

There was a small silence before I remembered to answer him. ''Amazing.'' I responded with a smile I couldn't help control.

He smiled a genuine smile back and nodded, ''Good, so you can come to the party tonight then.''

My eyebrows furrowed, ''Party? What party?''

Luke cut in, ''It's traditional. After the first week of tryouts the team throws a party. We told you this in the car the other day, remember? You said you couldn't go because of your boot.''

Harry smirked, ''And now you have no boot, so you're going.''

I shook my head. ''Parties aren't really my thing...I think I'll stay here and...clean up the house.''

Liz laughed, ''Nonsense, go to the party -- have some fun, make some friends, maybe even meet some boys.''

My dad shook his head at her last comment, ''No boys, please don't meet any boys.''

Harry had a smug look on his face as he looked at my father. ''Don't worry, Marco. I'll make sure to keep her away from those hooligans.''

I stared at him with a glare while my dad laughed. ''Thanks, Har.''
