I slid my fingers over the fabric of a stunning looking dress. It was too fancy for me to wear, but it was honestly breathtaking. If only I hadn’t been to prom yet, I wished I had gotten a dress like this. That sounded good, re-do prom in this dress and not with a jerk who would ruin my night. I wished I had picked better guys, ones that wouldn’t dare break my heart. That’s another reason to steer clear of Justin; he was the one to always do that.

“Sasha, what do you think of this?” Ally asked, holding up a dress in front of her.

It was short, the bottom of the dress finishing on her upper thigh. I furrowed my eyebrows, crossing my arms over my chest. It was pretty though, it was black and it looked gorgeous. If only it was longer though, it just looked...slutty. Well, that’s one way to put it.

“It’s a bit short, don’t you think?”
“That’s totally the point Sasha; all the boys are going to be all over this.”

Exactly the reason why I wouldn’t get it. I wanted to look stunning but without the boy’s being all over me.

I simply nodded and Ally grinned, walking towards the change room to try it on, one hand latched onto the small dress, the other on my wrist.

“Wait here, okay?” Ally instructed me.

I sat down onto a chair, waiting patiently for my friend to try on the world’s shortest dress. I let out a sigh knowing I still haven’t found a dress for me yet. We had less than an hour to find one too, time was getting short. I kept my head down as I heard a couple people approach, hoping I didn’t know them. I wasn’t exactly up for ‘having a chat.’

A deep voice caught my attention, “i’ll wait here mum.”
“Okay sweetie, thanks.” A woman responded, disappearing into a change room.

He sat down next to me and I remained to keep my head down. The voice had sounded familiar but I shook it off, I probably didn’t know him. He seemed fidgety, nervous even. It was getting on my nerves as he began to keep shifting, playing with his hands and hair.

For the love of god, hurry up Ally.

His arm then shoved into mine, “ouch, watch it.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, it was an accide-”
I cut him off, snapping back, “stop being so fidgety then.”

That’s when I noticed him, my eyes meeting with his. My body going all weird at the sight of him. It was Justin. What was he doing here? Why haven’t I been able to escape him in the last 2 days? Why can’t he just get out of my life?

Ally walked out suddenly, grabbing my wrist again and pulling me with her. I sighed with relief and we continued to walk, matching her pace now.

“I’m so getting this dress.”

She saved me.

“Who was the boy you were talking to? I heard yelling.”
“That wasn’t me; I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I replied.
She shot me a weird look, “Uh, okay?”

We walked back over to the dresses and I continued looking hoping Justin wouldn’t come find me again. My eyes looked over a rack I hadn’t looked at before. I searched the dresses before finding a stunning one. It wasn’t too short and was strapless. It was stunning as a matter-of-fact. I didn’t try it, knowing my size and went to pay. Eager to get out of this store, far away from Justin as possible.

“Don’t you want to try it first?” Ally questioned, one eyebrow raised.
“No need.”
“What’s the hurry?”
I sighed; “I just want to get home and do my homework.”
She laughed, “Why?”
“Just do, is that okay?”
“I guess...” She responded, looking away now.

I walked inside, my mother standing by the couch giving me a warm smile. I walked over to her, wrapping my arms around her in a motherly-daughter hug.

“How was shopping?”
I smiled opening my bag, taking out my new dress and some jewellery. She looked over the dress with an approving look, noticing that the dress is long enough. I still needed to try it on so I decided I would once I got up to my room.

“Where are you going to wear this?” Mum suddenly asked, taking me off guard.

She couldn’t know about Ally’s party. Knowing my mum she’d mention it in front of Ally’s parents and then, ‘game over.’ Ally would hate me if I ruined her chance of a big party while her parents were overseas.

“Just in case we go out or something, never bad to have a pretty dress in the cupboard.”
She nodded, “Very true, dinner will be ready soon, so come down in 10 minutes.”

I nodded and walked to my room, closing and locking the bedroom door behind me. I changed out of my clothes and pulled the new dress over my head, moving it in to place. It was a lot different on than it was when I held it up. I hadn’t realised how much it was going to hug my figure. It looked amazing, but the problem was it showed everything. It was the kind of dress I’d wear if I wanted boys to look at me.

But it looked amazing on me. I wanted to keep it, and I would. I could look pretty and keep the boys away, can’t I?

I stripped off again and got changed into a jumper and some sweatpants before walking down to eat dinner with my family, relieved that it was finally the weekend.

*Justin*

Way to go Justin, you just hurt someone.

I apologised quickly as she complained about me hurting her. She cut me off though, snapping back at me. That’s when I fully looked up at her, moving the hair from my eyes.

Sasha?

My eyes widened at her beauty, the girl I liked was standing right there in front of me. She looked shocked; she didn’t say anything, just stared. I was about to break the silence when she was dragged away by a girl which I assumed was her best friend. I stood up to go follow them and say hello but I remembered about my mum who was changing.

“I’m so getting this dress.” I heard.

They probably wouldn’t want to talk to me.

I sighed and fell back into my chair, resting my head on the wall. Why was Sasha so stubborn? Couldn’t she see how much I wanted to get to know her? I know I’ll get her though, I always get the girls.
