Chapter 14: Old Friend

  Tao's POV

I got up groggily.
We got back at 3 this morning and we still had to go to school.

Half asleep I rolled over and tried shaking Kris awake.

"Kris.... Krrriiiiisss ...Kreaaaaaase."

He opened his eyes slowly and mumbled something and tried swatting my hand away.

"Fine no kisses for you." I said getting up.
Kris shot up and jumped out of bed.
"Why can't we skip today"
I glared at him and puckered my lips.
He ran to the bathroom and shut the door.
I laughed and started getting ready.











Twenty minutes later........

Kris took my hand as we walked to school. He wanted to drive but I convinced him to walk with me.

His thumb stroked the back of my hand as I swung our hands back and forth while I'm hummed a song that got stuck in my head. Kris suddenly stopped and turned to me.
I stopped midstep and looked at him, "What's wrong?"

Kris took a deep breath, "Tao....you know I like you. I really like you and I wanted to make this off...."
He got cut off by a voice yelling my name.


"ZITAAAAAAOOOOOOO."

I turned around and my mouth dropped.
No way... It was my best friend in China. She helped me with everything.

"Amber!!!??" I tore my hand from Kris's gentle grasp and ran to her.

She starting running as well and we met in the middle.

I brought her in a huge hug.
"Noona it's been so long! How are you here?"
Amber smiled widely, "I just moved here Tao! I got a job at a recording studio."

My eyes widened, "Wow! I knew you had it in you."

Someone coughed behind us. I turned to find a uncomfortable looking Kris.
"Oh. Amber this is Kris. Kris, this is one of my first best friends Amber."

The handshake they shared was awkward and tense.
I coughed slightly to ease the tension.

"Amber how about we go to a cafe to catch up."
Amber nodded but motioned towards Kris with her eyes.

I turned to him, his face was slightly red while his eyebrows were furrowed.
"Kris do you wa...." He cut me off.
"I'm going to school."
With that he quickly walked away.

I turned to Amber and she shrugged. I sighed and motioned to a nearby cafe. "Shall we?"





Ten minutes later we were both sipping coffee while munching on cookies.
"So how's Momma Huang."

I stiffened and put my cup down.
"She's....gone."
Amber laughed nervously, "What do you mean gone? She would never leave her ba..." She stopped when she saw my pained expression.

I looked away and pointed up, "Gone."

Amber unfroze and gave me a tight hug. "Oh Tao I'm so sorry."

I smiled, "No it's okay. It's been 5 months and she's watching me. Besides I'm not alone."

Amber lit up, "Kris!!"
I blushed and stuffed a cookie in my mouth.

She laughed, "I knew it! He was jealous."

I tilted my head, "Jealous?"

Amber patted my hand, "You see honey... In love you get all these feelings......."

Amber and I sat in the cafe all day talking and catching up.


Unknown's POV

I grinned when I saw Amber hug Tao. I quickly took a picture and sent it to Kris.
A reply came almost instantly.

Kris: who is this
Kris: Why did you text this to me?

I smiled once more and turned my phone off and headed to school.

When I was there I ran over to Kris who was sitting on a bench alone.

I took a deep breath before sitting next to him.

He looked up and his face morphed into surprise, "Sonya!?"

"Kris...I saw Tao and Amber."
His face fell, "Yea someone texted me a picture."

I tried to hide my smile, "I'm so sorry."

I placed my hand on his arm comfortingly and did a small victory dance in my mind when he didn't brush it away.

"Tao is just using you...and you know it."

"What? No he...he wouldn't do that."

I tried bringing tears to my eyes, "Kris....his mom just died...he needs somewhere to stay and he needs someone to comfort him. You just happened to be there. Now he's got Amber... He even ditched school for her."

His face furrowed into confusion then anger.

"What am I supposed to do?"

"Be with me... Remember all the good times we had when we were little?"
He nodded slowly and got up.
Kris started walking inside and I followed, smiling in success.




Sorry this chapter is shit.

It's kinda like a filler.
I've been writing such long chapters that my brain just went askfndd and stopped working.
