*Chapter Six*

That was horrible. It felt like those roller coasters in amusement parks, except a hundred times worse. I was prostrated on something soft. I used my elbow to push myself up. To my surprise, I had landed on a giant-sized leaf. When I say giant, I mean big enough for me to lie on it and to support my weight. It was rather comfortable. If only I could lie on one of these for...

“How long are you planning to sleep?”

Annoyed, I saw Ray standing right in front of me. Well, good for him that he didn't end up falling on his sorry face.

“Where are we going next?” I asked when I finally stood up.

“You need to see the current leader.”

“And that person being...” I trailed off.

Instead of answering, he walked away. I sighed and had no other choice but to follow him. Soon, we had emerged from the forest. Confused, I looked around. There were barely any people around, around four or five to be exact, but no matter how hard I looked, they all looked human.

“Er,” I started, “are those humans?”

“Are you dumb?” Ray snorted. “Those are runars.”

“They look perfectly human to me.” I protested.

Suddenly, I heard a shout. Directed at us, I might add. runars, one by one, turned around to stare at us. Shock and fear were the two main expressions I saw. Screams were heard as some of them started running while others transformed into giant monsters and flew off.

“W-What's going on?” I asked stupidly.

“I can't believe I'm so stupid,” Ray muttered from beside me. “This is all your fault for getting me distracted. No species, especially the runars, would be happy to see two suspicious-looking creatures marching into their center. I can't believe I forgot this.”

As if on cue, a group of, what I assume to be, guards came and surrounded us from both sides.

“What are you? Why are you in Holsina?” a runar with copper-colored hair asked and stared down at us like we were worthless trash that people throw away without a second glance.

“We came here to see your leader,” Ray stated in a perfectly even tone.

“WHAT?!” he bellowed.“You think you can see Her Highness this easily?! Who do you think you are?!”

“We don't mean any harm,” I pleaded.

“This is rubbish! Guards! Lock them in - ”

“Leave her, Damon.”

I heard a gasp from behind me, and at the same time, all the guards knelt down in perfect unison.

“Your highness!” they chorused, again, in perfect unison.

I looked up and saw a stunning looking girl in her early twenties walking towards us. She had long, pale, blonde hair that flowed down till the base of her waist. Her clothes were made of expensive-looking silk. Even from afar, I could feel the power radiating off her. There were a few runars standing behind her as if guarding her. Our eyes met, she had a pair of molten-gold-colored eyes that are friendly but seemed as though they were staring straight into the very depths of your soul. Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Ray bow.

“Your Highness,” he greeted politely.

“Oh, don't be so formal,” she answered in a mellifluous voice. “Hello, Amethyst. It's been a while. I'm Melody Rosemera. Welcome to Holsina, my dear half-sister.”
