Chapter 33:

When Elise van Hastening got a request to chat with ‘prince_charming01’ she didn’t expect him to turn out to be a real prince charming, much less the Crown Prince. She also didn’t expect that accepting that simple request to chat, would change her life so dramatically.

But there she was, a little more than three months later, having tea with the Queen and The Royal Elder, discussing the ‘Royal Do’s and Don’ts,’ and laughing at the ridiculous nature of them with two of the most respected women in her country. The most unbelievable part of it all, though, was the fact that they were both heavily hinting that she would be in their position one day.

Leonidas had called her a couple of days ago, and told her that the Queen wanted to have a chat with her. And much like the last ‘chat’ that changed her life, this one was proving to be another change also. Elise wasn’t just simply having tea with the Queen; Elise was getting a lesson in how to be a Queen!

Oh boy! She thought as she listened to all that was explained. She was just listening and laughing at the jokes the other two told, as they bounced off the rules they liked hated.

“The ‘no jeans’ rule,” Queen Lucilla related to Accra.

“Oh yes,” Accra shook her head in agreement, “I wasn’t in the generation for jeans; but I remembered you were always in them before you were engaged to Grisham.”

Lucilla smiled. “I even wore them after I was engaged. But the media tore me apart over it that I decided to hang up my jeans for good.”

“But you’re Queen,” Elise stressed.

“I am now; but back then I wasn’t. And it went against ‘protocol’ so it was shunned.”

Elise pondered this fact, and had to wonder if the rule was still in effect. “I wear jeans all the time. I mean, no one ever complained that the Prince’s girlfriend was wearing jeans, so does that mean they’ve let that one go?”

“Oh no dear,” Queen Lucilla dismissed, “They would never let that go. You see, as a member of the royal family, people would look up to us, and expect us to dress a certain way, and act a certain way. The reason they haven’t picked you apart, is because you’re not engaged-”

Yet,” Accra interrupted, causing Elise to blush profusely.

“- I was going to say ‘as yet’,” Queen Lucilla told Accra with a wink, “Yes, as I was saying; you’re just Leonidas’ girlfriend. Once you’re part of the royal family, or on the verge of being part of the royal family, then they’ll start dissecting every little thing that you do.”

Elise gulped. Every little thing? “Sounds lovely,” she told them dryly.

“You have nothing to worry about.” Accra patted her hand lying on the couch’s arm, and smiled at her. “We’ll be there to guide you every step of the way.”

“Absolutely,” Queen Lucilla agreed. Lucilla would be there to guide her in the transformation. She wasn’t that lucky back then. Accra was still under Erland’s rule, and Lucilla mostly had to wing her role in the beginning, not wanting to be a bother to her then ‘just’ friend, more than husband, Grisham. But Elise had nothing to worry; Lucilla would be there every step of the way.
