AIDEN ONLY ASKED ME TWICE during our relationship, a long gap between each time. He definitely wasn’t the douchebag type, never asked every five minutes. Nor did he try to force me.

That was definitely one thing I liked about him.

“I am telling you for the last time,” I said as we walked through the front door of his house, into the living room. “What I did wasn’t so great… it was just moderately great.”

Aiden rolled his eyes, stretched. “Well, I thought you looked incredible, so I don’t give a damn what your input was.”

I gave him a dirty look as I wrapped my arms around him. “You know, it’s funny how you could be extremely sweet and somewhat of an ass at the same time.”

“Yeah, that’s why you love me over all the other dicks at your school.”

I laughed as he kissed me. I expected him to pull away, but he didn’t, our lips spreading apart as I leaned against the wall near the stairs. Then his hands started moving, floating across me. And the odd thing was I really didn’t mind it. Something was different that day, and I still don’t know what it was.

He pulled away, his hands still caressing me.

“Sorry,” he said, “I’ve been waiting all day to do that.”

I laughed. “I can tell.” I walked past him, ran upstairs, into his bedroom. He followed me, closed the door. After that, everything felt rushed, and before I knew it, we were almost there, my heart trying to pound its way out of my chest.

“Aid?” I asked as he kissed me.

“Huh?” he sighed.

“Um… do you— do you have anything?”

He pulled away, looked at me. “What?”

“You know what I mean.”

He looked at me for a moment before he realized what I was talking about. He reached into his back pocket, pulled his wallet out.

“Of course I do.”

I nodded, couldn’t help but thinking it was too damn awkward. Aiden could tell that I was uncomfortable, apparently. He sat up, sighed.

“We don’t have to if you don’t want to,” he said.

I sat up, looked at him. “It’s not that,” I said, staring straight into his eyes. They displayed hunger, totally different from the hunger in Jeremy’s. It was more subtle, more accepting.

“Then what is it?” It wasn’t a harsh question. His voice was calm, not as forceful as it could have been.

I frowned. “I don’t know. I’m just a little nervous, I guess.”

“Well, so am I, but it’s fine. Like I said, we don’t have to.”

“Why are you nervous, though? Haven’t you done this before?”

He looked at me, his fingers running through my hair. “Yeah, but it wasn’t with anyone who I was in love with.”

“Oh, please tell me it wasn’t anyone at our school.”

“No, it wasn’t with any of the whores at our school. It was back home.”

I nodded, sighed. “So, you’re implying that you’re in love with me?”

“No… more like telling you.” We smiled at each other. Then he looked away from me.

“Well, we shouldn’t do this. I don’t want you to feel—”

I pulled closer to him, and he turned toward me, let me kiss him again. Then it was starting. Our clothes were shedding, and everything around me seemed to fade, didn’t really seem to matter anymore.

I was with him, and in his arms I felt...

Safe.
