I sat at the table as everyone else danced around, no one glancing in my direction. Groups of people laughed as they danced- not a care in the world. I picked up my glass, downing the remaining alcohol, before slowly standing up, careful not to trip. I moved out of people's way as they continued to walk towards me, with no effort to move like I wasn't even there. At times, I  second-guessed if I was there. I made my way towards the bar and slowly waited for my turn. After five minutes, it was finally my turn. Before I could say anything, I was bumped out of the way by a group of girls who smiled at the bartender. His brown eyes eyed the girls as they shot their orders out. I had to swallow my comment as the girls continued. I just had a few more hours to get through; no point causing a fuss now; it'll just give my parents another reason to have a go at me. A minute passed, and the girls grabbed their drinks and made their way off. Again, before I could tell the bartender my order, he turned to serve another group. I shook my head. Just great. I can't even get a drink to make this experience better. My self wallowing growing.
"What can I get you?" A voice spoke; another order was being taken before mine. I swear. "Hello." A hand slowly waved in front of my eyes. I turned to look at the boy in front of me. His hair was blonde and messier than most of the people here. His blue eyes searched my face for any sign I had heard. "What can I get you?" He repeated his question with a smile.
"I'll have..." Another girl started to say something but was quickly cut off. "I wasn't talking to you," the blonde boy responded. He looked from the girl to me, the girl doing the same before letting out a huff and leaning against the bar. "So..."
"I'll take whatever's strongest." The boy laughed while searching the bottles behind him.
"Has it been that bad?" he questioned as he started to sort the drink.
"You wouldn't believe it," I responded. The girl next to me started to tap her nails against the bar, letting out a huff. She had only been waiting a minute. The blonde boy looked from the glass he was using to the girl, his eyes slightly squinted. The girl quickly stopped the nail-tapping but let out another huff. At that moment, I felt like I wanted the ground to swallow me whole. I couldn't help but wish that the boy would hurry up with the drink. I just wanted to get back to my table, where you couldn't see me.
"Here you go." The boy placed the new glass down on the bar.
"Thank you." I quickly took the glass. The boy seemed to linger as if he wanted to say something else. Before he could speak, the girl from earlier had moved her way into my previous place barely giving me any space to move out of the way. I shook my head, making my way back to the table.

Another hour had passed, and I hadn't spoken to another person. People didn't acknowledge that I was even there. I had grown bored of sitting in the same seat and had moved to walking around the island club, looking at the different art around the place. My drink from earlier was in my hand. I slowly made my way down the corridor, turning the corner, when I collided with someone. My drink spilt all down my outfit, and the other person was not even affected by it.
"Oh my god, are you okay?" "I'm o-," I started to say, looking up. The question wasn't directed at me but at the person I had collided with. Not a drop on them.
"I'm fine" The girl smiled, reassuring her friend, who was looking her up and down and making sure her dress was alright. "Let's just get back to the party." The pair turned and didn't even look in my direction. What the fuck? I bite the inside of my cheek, turning to the backdoors of the club. Screw it; I don't care if I get in trouble with my parents. I can't stay here any longer. I made my way to the doors, pushing them open harder than I expected.

"Jesus, you know there's a better way to take out your anger, right?" A voice spoke as the doors slammed shut behind me. I turned to the voice, and there stood the blonde boy from the bar. He was sitting on the wooden fence around the porch.
"Sorry," I mumbled, looking down at the floor.
"I don't care; it's not like I own this place," he laughed. My gaze moved back to him. "So what's wrong?" He asked, his tone becoming more serious.
"Why would I tell you?" The first person who had asked me what was wrong in so long and this was how I responded. God, what is wrong with me? He'll probably stop talking to me.
"Why not?" The boy responded with a shrug. I looked him up and down, trying to get a reading on him. "It's obvious something's wrong, so why not talk to someone who's on the outside?" He made sense and seemed genuine.
"They see right through me" I crossed my arms taking a step towards the boy. "They don't see me even when I'm right in front of them. I'm not just talking about strangers but friends and even my parents" I took another step joining the boy sitting on the wooden fence. "Like I'm not even there"
"Maybe you need better friends. Friends that don't see right through you. People that see you" He tilted his hair, his blonde hair falling forward.
"Yeah doubt I'll find that here" I sighed looking back towards the doors. No one here really cared they were all as sallow as one another.
"Names JJ" I turned towards the boy as he held out his hand towards me. He looked from me to his hand.
"y/n" I responded taking his hand into mine with a smile.
"I think I have some people who you should meet. People that won't see right through you."
