Caroline looked at the picnic she prepared, smiling with her hands on her hips.

Ever since her argument with Klaus, things have been tense between them. He won't answer her calls, her texts, and he's never home when she comes over. To make matters worse, Tyler's back in town, and Matt is suspicious of everything. It's all getting too much. They need this.

"Bourbon? Check. Salad? Check. Sandwiches? Check. What am I missing?"

"Chips?" Elena asked from beside her friend.

"Do you think he'd eat it?"

"When I dated him, he ate chips," Elena chuckled, setting a bag of potato chips on the blanket.

"Well things change," Caroline snapped. She hated whenever Elena mentioned that she dated Matt, it always made her feel like it was a competition she couldn't win.

"And he'll love whatever you do, Care," Elena promised.

Sighing, Caroline nods, "He'll be here in a bit, so we have time to talk about what's been going on."

Elena furrowed her brows, "Other then our English teacher being an original and us trying to kill them, Bonnie not talking to me, nothing had been happening."

"No, I'm talking about our conversations."

"What? Care," Caroline interrupts, "next time you wanna call me a bitch and steal my favorite shirt, I won't talk to you."

"What? Caroline, I'd never do that-"

"And lying? Was helping me plan a picnic some sort of way to apologize without apologizing?" Caroline shouted.

"No, of course not. Maybe you should remember actual conversations and not make them up," Elenas head is pushed aside, her cheek burning from the slap Caroline face her.

"When did you get so bipolar? Ric was right, you are acting weird!"

Elena leaves with her hand on her cheek, looking back at Caroline every now and then before getting into her car and leaving. This isn't the first time something like this has happened in the last week, but it's one of the few that stings.
