"We've already hired enough private investigators for this case. And they've found leads that will help to put an end to this mess. Now you two better make sure that this does not affect your studies! Is that understood?"

"Yes, father!" Both Ross and Luna answered at the same time with their heads hung low.

It was during lunch when the two were fetched by their butler to meet their father. They've spoken about the recent issue of the university. And their father wanted to make sure they are both safe and not falling behind on their grades.

The sooner he left...

"Sometimes, I can't help but wonder if he really loves us. Or just our accomplishments." Luna mumbled as she stomped her feet, walking their way back to the canteen.

"He's just worried."

"Yeah he is. Worried that our grades will flunk. It's literally just the beginning of the first semester! And with all that's going on. How can he think of our ranks right now?!" She rambles in frustration.

"At least his investigators got a lead. Unlike the cops."

"Yeah. And hopefully, it's not a dead end."

When the two got to the canteen. They didn't have the appetite to eat lunch thanks to their father. So they just sat beside their group of friends.

Ross doesn't really hang out with the guys anymore. He spends more time with Steel and Rasmus when they start to get closer.

While Luna hangs out with the girls and sometimes with Cayden. She decided to sit with the girls since Cayden left with Jamie and Cullen to speak to the dean regarding the postponement of their acquaintance party. Since many students really wanted to have it rather than indulge too much to the death of a student. It feels like a bad start of their school year.

After lunch. Steel and Rasmus had to separate ways with Ross since they're freshman students. Their next class was suddenly canceled because their professor couldn't make it. So the two decided to go to the library instead.

"Hey. I-I'm going back to our room. I don't feel well." Rasmus suddenly stood up and started sorting his things.

"Uhm... Do you want me to come with you?" He asked while looking up at the younger.

"It's alright. You can stay here. There are a lot of guards all around the school. So I'm good." Rasmus assured him before exiting the library.

Steel watched until Rasmus was gone. He tried to focus back on his school work but the younger is really getting into his nerves. He knows something but he wouldn't open up to him or Ross.

"Excuse me?" Steel was snapped from his daze he didn't know he was at.

He turned his head to his left and saw Mei. She was smiling at him and holding a few books.

"Is this seat taken?" She asked and pointed to the spot where Rasmus had sat previously. "This is my favorite spot and I didn't know someone else sits here too." She added.

"S-sure." Steel moved a bit towards the window so Mei could sit.

There was an awkward silence between them until Mei decided to break it while doing her homework.

"You're one of the witnesses right?" She asked and Steel turned to her with the same dumbfounded expression.

"Y-yeah..."

"I can't believe you actually saw a man get shot. It must've been traumatizing." She said and stopped briefly just to look at him with an empathizing expression before turning back to her homework.

"In the first 24 hours. Yes, it is." Steel chuckled and decided to focus on his studying.

But somehow he couldn't. And it seems that Mei is on the same page as him. She suddenly closed her notebook and turned to the man beside her.

"Do you wanna ditch classes with me?" She suddenly asked with a wide grin on her face.

"Why would you do that with me? Don't you have friends?" He asked bluntly. But the idea of ditching classes is somehow interesting at the back of his mind.

Ever since the private bodyguards started scouring the school. Everything became too strict and they couldn't spend their weekends outside. They weren't allowed to leave either.

It made them feel suffocated even though it's only been a few days.

"My friends are too busy trying to get the acquaintance party scheduled for the weekend." She said with a huff.

"Okay."

Mei turned to him a bit dumbfounded. She didn't expect he'll agree right away. But was glad that he did.

She didn't really think much of who she'll leave with. As long as they are willing to sneak out with her.

The two placed all their things back in their bags in a hurry.

"The students will suspect if they see us together. So let's meet at the greenhouse. I know a secret way to sneak out there." Steel said and left first.

He went to the lockers and placed his bag there before making his way to the greenhouse.

He didn't know why. But he's actually kind of thrilled to sneak out. He knows it's gonna put him in big trouble so he just needs to make sure they won't get caught.

"There you are! Let's go." Mei whispered when she spotted the male coming.

"This way." Steel led her to the back of the greenhouse.

He tapped on the walls as if looking for a secret door. Until eventually, the wall moved back on his next press, revealing a way out that will lead them to the forest.

The two immediately walked through the secret door and closed it. Once they got to the forest, Steel brought her to the tree house where he hung out with Rasmus and Ross in their free time.

The three built the treehouse and they are the only ones by far who knows about it. Including Mei now.

"Do you know how to use a bike?" Steel asked.

"Uhm no. I don't drive anything." Mei answers. A bit overthinking that Steel might be leading her somewhere to murder her.

"No sh*t." Steel briefly stopped walking and looked at her. Quite surprised that she doesn't know how to drive and definitely not even a bike.

"What? Not everyone knows how to do it." Mei reasoned out and followed him when he continued walking.

The three eventually reached the treehouse. Mei could not hide the awe on her face to see the well built house on the huge tree. Below it are three bikes. Which seems to be quite new.

"Ross bought this for us. But we only use this when we hang out. Or when Rasmus and I go around the forest." Steel said and removed the lock on one of the bicycles.

Steel sat on the bike and gestured to Mei to sit on the carrier behind him. Mei suddenly felt awkward but sat anyway.

"Hold on to me."

"O-okay." Mei used both her hands and gripped on the side of Steel's shirt. She felt a sudden heat crawl on her cheeks but it went all away when Steel started cycling.

It took them at least half an hour to reach the city since Steel had to make sure they wouldn't be seen. He locked his bike on a public parking lot before turning to Mei who had been staring at him since they left the forest.

He was panting and sweating a lot. Probably because he was using his legs nonstop. Unless they need to avoid a bodyguard from hearing them.

Mei unconsciously lifted her hand and wiped the sweat on his forehead.
