ITACHI SIGHS as his conscience made him more guilty. You deserved an apology, yet what he gave you was more salt to the wound. He'll admit he was at fault. He just couldn't bring himself to say sorry. He knew. He knew he was hurting you on purpose, he also knew you were smart enough to know that.

Also super persistent in getting love.

But he couldn't reverse time. Words cut deeper than a knife, and he stabbed you with them. But you choose to stay. That's the complicated thing he finds. Why aren't you leaving? Clearly you deserved someone better. Not this man who continued to hurt you as if your feelings were nothing.

Maybe it was his cunning mind ruling rather than himself. Machiavellian mind, guilty heart.

It's been 3 weeks to be exact. Itachi and you hadn't talked ever since, only occasional smiles and small waves from you were the only things that atleast told everyone you were interacting. Even if they weren't very much reciprocated, and maybe that humiliated look you had twisted his heart.

He had to talk to you soon. He had to say sorry. A very genuine one.

It bugged Itachi how you greeted him with a tone used for friends, not lovers. It's been eating him alive since the incident 3 weeks ago. You continued to use it, even after the small fight. You even lowered yourself to say sorry. But he didn't know why it bothered him so much.

Maybe because he spends half of his time with the one he loves, not the one he's married too. No, he isn't cheating. Just showing gratitude. The other half is for work, maybe that explains his situation now. Paper scattered across his study table, lights dimmed and an empty feeling in it. Maybe he did miss your presence when you used to visit his office.

Now, he was just met with a dimmed, empty, cold room.

Usually, Itachi is a well organized person like you expect him to be, but right now, in this cold, empty room, he feels super scattered, mind filled with unknown thoughts even to him. Unanswered questions and guilt eating him alive at the same time. At some point he doesn't even know why.

He feels like something is just missing, yet he couldn't even identify what it was.

The pitter patter of rain didn't even help with his wild thoughts. He was really lost right now, he's accustomed to it, but something feels wrong right now. It isn't a good one either.

Sighing once again, he ran his hand across his hair, smoothing out the frizz that was rising up. He stood up and went beside the window, looking out at the grayish sky as the water droplets continued to pour down. A streak of lightning flashed across the sky as thunder soon followed, roaring out it's cry.

One thing's for sure, Itachi wasn't bothered by it. In fact he was a ceraunophilia, a person who loved thunder and rain, he just finds it fascinating. Somehow in this mellow sky, he didn't feel safe at all. He didn't feel at peace as he continued to stare outside.

It is really weird.

He loved the rain yet he felt triggered by it. Nothing was easing his mind. Even the thought of Izumi. Surprisingly, the mere thought of you eased him.

As if he was in heaven, the laughter that was embedded in his mind was something that eased his furious heart. It eased his aching body.

And what surprises him the most was the fact it was your laugh he loved today.

Something gravely unusual, it was very uncharacteristic of him. Seemingly despising you, he's grown to love what he has hated.

In this case, he misses you.
