This would make sense if you did the Sumeru story quest, I think? Or it was Nahida's quest. Anyways, dreams.

Aether laid in his own mind, which was just a void of nothingness made by his own emotions. This world is nothing without him. Ah. This is a dream of sorts. He finally got Eleazar, didn't he? At least no one can tell him what he can do and what he cannot. He's going crazy. This pent up world.
"Nahida, what is he doing here?"-Aether
"He wanted to see you."-Nahida
Aether sat up and looked at him. His eyes had that glare of distraught. Why was he here? Wasn't he supposed to be in Liyue? How did he know about Nahida being able to go into other people's bodies and dreams?
"He is supposed to be protecting Liyue. How did you get in my head? I thought I was unconscious."-Aether
"Dreams don't stop when you're sleeping. You body is only unresponsive to your sense, but your brain still works and functions as a factory."-Nahida
Aether untied his hair and the world changed. It was full of stars and white buildings. This was the end. The blond was crying. He placed his head between his knees and started making oceans with his tears.
"I wanna go home Xiao! I wanna bring you home too!"-Aether
The blond finally looked around. It was home. Right before he left. He cried. His homeland was destroyed. By his own people. He used to think his family and himself were to blame.
"Just leave me here to die."-Aether
He still thinks it's his fault.
"You'll die in the real world too!"-Xiao
"So be it! I don't deserve to live! What's the point of living if your family only hates you and everyone uses you?"-Aether
Xiao teleported to him as he was running to him. The blond was looking at the world falling down on him. He wanted to die alone, and only alone.
They never died. Aether just woke up. What a pain. This was shit.
"That was only a fraction of your memories that you lost due to the Heavenly Principles, wasn't it?"-Nahida
"Never do that again. Those memories are those who don't belong to this world, and if anyone finds out, I am screwed. My sister is screwed. I might die. This entire world may die. The entire loop may be gone. No one is to be trusted in this world."-Aether
"Sorry. You were having a bad dream and me and Xiao-wait where did he go? Awww, he was so nice."-Nahida
"He doesn't like people."-Aether
"Talk about it with him the . He's supposed to be trust worthy. Unless he has intentions to betray you, since he's a respected individual of Liyue."-ScaraPee
Aether huffed and went outside, despite the confused archon's protests. He wanted to strangle the little purple guy. But he had to find the raven first.
Suddenly the raven dragged Aether back by the shirt. Aether punched him and threw him to the ground.
"Mention anyone you saw in my dream and I'll come and chop you head off."-Aether
"I heard. I don't have any intention of doing so. My original intention was to devour your dream. Because your dream looked torturous and tears were streaming down your face."-Xiao
"Never do that again. Just let me suffer. It is none of your business of what I am thinking and dreaming."-Aether
"I know. I'll never do it again."-Xiao
Xiao hugged Aether, which surprised him since this was totally out of character for Xiao. Aether kissed him on the nose and patted his back. He really did care.
