"Woooooo! Hooooooo!" I cheer as we drive down a long winding road. I throw my hands in the air, clenching my legs to not fall off. We were in upstate New York.
"Woah!" I exclaim as we hit a bump. My hands fly around Steve's waist.
Steve chuckles.
"Having fun?" He yells over the wind. I nod against his back.
"We're almost there!" He yells as we turn a bend.
"Woah!" I exclaim, holding on tighter. Steve drives fast!
We soon arrive at a large field with a picnic bench underneath a tree.
"Steve. It's beautiful." I gasp, looking at the blonde man.
"I used to come here, before everything, and sit. This tree was here, but not as old." Steve smiles in remembrance, "Bucky joined me sometimes."
There he is again. Bucky. James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes. Steve mentioned him a lot. Brown hair, blue eyes. Steve's best friend. Died falling off a train on a mission. Died saving his best friend.
"Come on, I brought food," Steve says in a hopeful tone, holding up a basket that he got from who knows where.
"Yeah. I'm starving." I say, grabbing his hand and leading him toward the table.
As we walk over hand in hand, my mind starts to wander. You know, I never really told any of my soulmates I love them.
"I hope you like sandwiches, I can't make much else," Steve says as we sit down at the table, "I mean, I can. It just won't taste the best."
"That's alright. I love you either way." I say, kissing his cheek and sitting down next to him. Hehehe. Oh, that'll be fun.
"Wha-" Steve splitters, nearly falling off the bench.
"Steve!" I exclaimed, catching the falling man with my powers and sitting him up straight, "Careful!"
"Wha-what did you just say?" He splutters, clearly in shock.
"I love you, Steve Rogers." I say with a smile, "That's what I said."
"I-." Steve starts before I pull him into a soft kiss.
"It's alright. You don't need to say it back" I tease, shaking my head while smiling.
"Eat your sandwiches that may or may not be terrible. Bucky's mom made most of our food when I was a kid." Steve sighed in remembrance. He handed me a plate that seemed to have cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches on it.
"Yesssss!" I exclaim at the sandwiches, making grabby hands at the plate.
Steve chuckles at me before handing me the plate.
"Thank you!" I smile before biting into the sandwich. How can anyone fuck up a sandwich? You can't.
"I can try." Steve laughs. Did...did I say that out loud?
"Yes. Yes you did." He laughs again.
"What is with me today?" I ask, slapping the side of my head.
"Here. Do you like fruit?" Steve asks, pulling out a bowl of fruit salad, "Another one of the only things I can cook."
"Chopping up fruit and putting it in a bowl does not count as cooking." I chastise, taking a grape and popping it in my mouth.
"Whatever you say, Y/N."

"Did you have fun today?" Steve asks as we stand in front of my door. It was after the date and we still didn't want to say goodbye just yet.
"I did. Also, those sandwiches were amazing. I must have eaten at least five." I smile at him.
"It's getting late. I should let you go." Steve says after a bit of silence.
"Yeah. Goodnight, Steve. I-" I start, reaching for the doorknob behind me.
"I love you too!" Steve blurts out. He quickly turns a bright crimson, his usual cool exterior fading away in a wave of red.
"3 hours, 5 minutes, and 32 seconds." I read from my phone.
"What?" Steve asks confused.
"I started a stopwatch on my phone after I said 'I love you," I explain with a smile.
"And that's how long it took for me to say it back?" Steve asks with a small smile.
"Yep!" I say, kissing his cheek and opening the door, "Goodnight Steve!"
"Goodnight Y/N." Steve smiles as I close the door.
I love that man.
