I take one last deep breath before getting down from my newly waxed car.

I also got a haircut too,and I must say that I'm looking smokin hot.

When I step in,the decorated hall is booming with music 

There are black and orange balloons on the walls,doors-okay,pretty much everywhere.

Dante finally notices me and grins.

"Hey dude,you look good" he says with a grin.

"Thanks," I smirk. "who's your date?"

"Trish!" He exclaims with a wide smile.

"Wow,what of her boyfriend?"

"He's not attending. Turns out he doesn't like social events" he says and I roll my eyes.

"Where's Ruby?" He asks.

"She's not... attending. She also isn't a fan of prom" I say and Dante makes a very audible sigh.

"I think you should call her. Maybe she might reconsider it" he shrugs.

"Sure,I'll do that" I reply.

I walk out of the hall,and I search for a place where the music isn't too loud.

I find myself walking outside,and I finally call Ruby.

"Hey" I say nervously.

"Hey," she says and pauses to chew something. "You haven't sent me any pics yet!"

"I haven't taken any. I just got here a few minutes ago"

"Oh, who's your date? Kelly?"

"No no. I don't have a date"

She chokes and then I can hear her audibly gulp water

"You know it's bad to eat and talk,right?" I ask with a smirk.

"Oh shut up," she says. "What do you mean you don't have a date? I don't think any girl in their right senses will turn you down. Did you even ask any girl? Any?!!"

"No,I didn't"

"Why?"

"Because you're not a fan of prom"

"How does that affect your date to prom"

"Don't you get it,silly?," I sigh. "I want you to be my date,but when you said you're not going,I decided to just forget about it and go alone"

"I.... can't go to prom,Jason. It's not my thing"

"I know, that's why I didn't ask you anymore. It's fine if you can't come"

"I bet you're looking handsome right now," she sighs. "How can someone that handsome be single on prom night??"

I chuckle,and so does she.

And then silence..

She doesn't say anything,and so do I.

"Ruby?"

"Yeah?"

"Please, think about it. And please, don't drive your motorcycle here. It'll ruin whatever you have on. I'll just come pick you up"

"Who says I'm coming?"

"Oh right"

"I don't wanna attend, it's just a waste of time," she sighs. "I'll come for the graduation ceremony"

"Alright then," I smile even though she can't see me. "Bye"

She hangs up,and I sigh.

Well,I guess I'm spending the rest of the night alone.

I walk back in,and I walk over to the food stand.

The committee really put a lot of effort into this year's prom.

I mean.. everywhere looks sophisticated.

Later that night,I'm having some ice cream when a loud song comes on.

Oh no. My eyes!!!

This isn't how dancing should be done.

This is bad .....

I don't like dancing,but these guys are doing it wrong.

And Ace happens to be part of the people dancing like skeletons.

Of course,he is

"Oh gosh,you made it!" A familiar female high pitched voice says from behind me.

"Kelly," I say as she walks in front of me. "You look... stunning" I say honestly.

"So do you" she grins and gives me a quick peck.

"Where's Ruby?" She asks.

"She's not coming. Where's Derek?"

"He should be somewhere around here," she says. "Or he's probably at the back"

And as she speaks,a slow song comes on.

"May I have this dance?" She asks

Well,Ruby isn't coming so whatever.

"Sure" I say and put my hand around her waist as she does for my shoulder.

We begin to dance,and turns out she's really good at this.

Taking each step flawlessly.

She looks into my eyes,and so do I.

I stare at her,and then she lets out a very loud laugh.

The dance is still going on,and I catch a glimpse of Ruby...

Ruby??!

Ruby???!

I notice her eyes.

They stare at me,and then she shakes her head and walks away.

The music stops,and Kelly giggles.

"Hey, I'll be right back" I say to Kelly and I begin to jog in the direction of Ruby.

She went....right. yes,right..

Towards the school building.

I begin to jog.

She better not leave yet.
