23-Good Trip

We're currently packing for the mountains after convincing Jennifer the other day. I can tell she's nervous, she's definitely one to hide her emotions, she's just not great at doing so.

"Can you please r at op worrying?" I ask Jennifer as she's sitting on the ground and packing a suit case. She turns her head to me sharply and gives me a look. "I didn't say anything." She whines.

"But I can tell. Cuz you have that face on your face." I say and she rolls her eyes before continuing to pack. "Look, anyone would be nervous." She says. "I know, but I promise you that they're gonna like you. My family is fun and easy to get along with. They're not prissy or proper, if anything I'm worried that you won't like them." I say.

"I'll be fine. Just let me worry in peace." She sighs. I roll my eyes and walk into the bathroom. I start packing a little toiletry bag and making sure that the bathroom is straightened before we leave.

I turn to leave the bathroom, but Jennifer is standing in the doorway with tears in her eyes. I set the bag down on the counter and take Jennifer's hand, pulling her into a hug. "What's wrong baby??" I ask softly.

"I'm scared.." She says as she sniffles. I rub her back and hold her tightly. "Don't be scared." I say and pull away while still holding her in my arms, looking into her eyes.

"I've never really had a situation in my life like this. And I don't know if I'll be able to handle it." She says and I tilt my head.

I understand what she's saying. Her whole life has been just running around and going with the flow, she's never really had something to commit to.

"Jennifer I would tell you if my family is terrible. They're all a bunch of crazy people that cuss a lot and joke with eachother." I say.

"You have absolutely nothing to be scared about, alright?" I say and she nods. "We should probably get to bed, our flight is early tomorrow." I say and take my hands away from her waist before kissing her forehead.

"Ok?" I tilt my head. "K." She nods and wipes her tears before walking into the bedroom. I follow behind her and put the small bag in my suitcase.

I get into bed and lay down beside Jennifer, wrapping my arm around her and pulling her close. "I love you." She says in a whisper and my heart skips a beat, causing me to smile unintentionally.

"I love you too."

It's the next day and luckily we made our flight in time, we have about an hour left before we arrive in Colorado.

Jennifer has been asleep the whole time, and I'm kind of glad because if she was awake, then she would just get nervous.

Eventually the last hour passes, and we land. The pilot comes on the intercom telling us to get our luggage, so I start to wake up Jen.

"We're here." I tell her and lightly rub her shoulder. Her eyes flutter open, and she looks out the window of the airplane. "You okay?" I ask, just making sure.

"Mhm." She nods and takes out her headphones, gathering her stuff together. I stand up and grab our overhead luggage, then people start getting off the plane, and we follow behind.

I take Jennifer's hand as we walk through the airport. She looks at me and smiles as we continue to walk.

"Alright, my mom sent a cab for us." I say once we get outside. Suddenly I spot the cab and the driver puts our stuff in the back. 

Me and Jen sit in the backseat together as we're on our way there. I haven't let go of her hand since we got out of the airport, I just wanna make sure she's calm.

I know that she doesn't only smoke because she likes to, but she also has anxiety. And I mean everyone does, but Jen gets really nervous, which is surprising since she's so charming.

It takes about two hours for us to get to the big cabin my moms rents out every year.

Once we pull in the driveway, Jennifer sits up and leans to the side, looking out the front window. "Ok- this is so pretty." She says, luckily with a smile and not a worried face.

"I know right." I say as we both get out of the cab. I tip the driver before me and Jen walk up to the front porch. I open the door which is unlocked and we walk in.

"Well you know your fathers not that smart-." I hear my mom say. "Ma!" Shanon says and I hear Nicole start to laugh. I giggle as me and Jen set our suitcases beside the front door.

I look at Jen and take her hand. "Mom!!" I call out. "Leah!!!" I hear my mom shout.

Suddenly she comes running, more like toddling down the stairs. My moms really funny, well, she thinks she is, which makes her funny. She's just a very random person who gets confused a lot. Same with my step dad. They're just a middle aged Italian couple that laugh a lot.

My sisters Nicole and Shanon are funny too. They're very blunt and will call my mom out on her bullshit, which is hilarious.

She comes down and gives me a big hug once I let go of Jennifer's hand. "I missed you." She says squeezing me tight before smacking my butt. "Ma-." I say and pull away. "Wow, you look so beautiful. Just like your mother." She says and cups my face.

"Thanks mom." I smile and roll my eyes. Her eyes shift to Jennifer and she smirks. "Now who's this angel?" My mom asks me. "Mom, this is Jennifer. Jennifer, this is my mom, Vicki." I introduce them.

"So this is the infamous Jennifer we've all heard so much about." My mom says and Jennifer looks at me and giggles. "You didn't tell me how gorgeous she is!" My mom says and I roll my eyes.

"Thankyou, it's so nice to meet you." Jennifer says and holds out her hand to shake my moms, but instead my mom pulls her into a big bear hug.

"Welcome to the family hun." My mom says and rubs Jennifer's back. "She smells great too-." My mom says in shock once they pull away. "That's enough ma." I say as Jennifer giggles.

"Come on upstairs, your sisters are dying to see you." My mom says and waves her hand for us to follow her.

Me and Jen follow behind my mom up the stairs. I look at Jennifer, and I can tell she's a lot more calmed down. I know she was most worried about my mom, but now that's out of the way. I think this is gonna be a good trip.
