Jason's POV

WASSCE!! So soon. Raising my head from my pillow, I made it to the bathroom. Bathing was a big nuisance to human life. Taking pains to brush my teeth and wash my body, I rinsed myself quickly. I hated water. No! BATHING in general. Wiping the beads of water on my body with a spotless white towel. I made my way to the room.

"Hey, you're up early," Frankson remarked with a smile. I ignored him and headed towards my locker to get dressed. Wearing tattered jeans, I pulled the uniform shirt over it. I sat on my bed, pulling out a textbook. I started to revise. I raised my head halfway through my studies to find the boys staring at me with surprised looks.

"What?" I asked, placing the book beside me and propping my back with pillows. "When did you start taking studies so seriously?" Frankson asked.

"The day I realized I needed A's in my life," I replied.

" I think this has to do with Tasha. I'm sure."  I heard Alberts say.

"I would have agreed, but I'm sorry to disappoint. That's not true."

"Here," Solomon said, pulling a cigar and throwing it my way. I glared at him and dumped it in the bin. They suddenly had questioning looks on their faces.

"You guys better find something to do with your lives,"  I said, dismissing them and attending to my books. Suddenly my phone beeps, and I stretched for it, glaring at them to give me space, but they did otherwise. Looking at the caller ID, I blinked twice to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me. Slowly my hand swiftly received the call, and a force in my hand gingerly lifted it to my ear.

"Hello! Jason." I heard the voice which hadn't spoken to me for ages. I couldn't bring my tongue to talk. "Jason Herbert's, aren't you going to respond?" The voice asked with anger. I smiled and leaned on the wall feeling very relaxed. "Yeah. I'm going to respond, but I wanted to hear your voice again." I replied soundly. Silence took over the place but was saved by my breathing which was heavily and audibly heard.

"So you never going to call until I call." She accused as usual.

"I think there's a problem somewhere. Ladies first, that's what you always say."

"Whatever. My sad said I should write my papers in your school and as your best friend, I need you to make me comfortable."

"If it's a request, then you have it, but if it's a command – "

"It's a request, gentleman. Thank you for accepting." She said, interrupting happily. "Good morning. See you during day time."

"Hey, not so fast. Aren't you saying the words?" I asked.

"Crazy ass. Best friends till I die. Till we die." She said amidst laughter.

A week more to WASSCE. Sitting at our usual place during lunch, I felt two tiny fingers on my eyes. Fidgeting a little, I removed the hands and pulled the body in front of me. My smile broadened as I saw the face I had missed so much.

"A kiss will do," I said, pulling her into a hug. She pulled back and stuck her tongue out playfully.

"After I die." She said amidst laughter. With my hands around her waist, I cleared my throat and bought attention for ourselves from my friends.

"Guys, meet Ella Anderson. Ella meets Sasha, Jay, Felicia, and Tasha."

"Your new friends. I thought I was the only girlfriend you had. I'm hurt." Ella said playfully as she held her heart. Turning to Tasha and her friends, she politely shook hands with them and found a seat beside me.

"I guess I would eat your food today; I didn't bring my card along with me," Ella announced and tucked my meatballs into her mouth.

"Ella," I started, "You don't need that card of yours. It's free." I informed. She made a face. "You know I don't like free items."
