The air seemed colder on her skin as Nancy rushed back outside into the comfort of the others. Barbara still hadn't returned, and after her mother's worried tone, Wheeler had a gut feeling that the girl hadn't been back home at all.
The party still carried on in their drunken wonderland, now moping around the pool edge like they were balancing a tightrope. Steve, however, stayed put where he first sat.
Nancy walked over with a nervous spring in her step. "Steve," she cooed, grabbing his attention. "Steve, has anyone heard from Barb?"
He turned, running a lazy hand through the brown hair on his head. "No," he blinked, eyebrows slightly scrunched. "has her mom not said anything?"
His girlfriend visibly chewed on the inside of her lip, crossing her arms in thought. "I guess we'll just have to wait a bit longer."
