Ricky watched as she started to walk out the door, a flashback to last semester when he said forever and always.

You didn't mean it, did you?"

"You know, I still remember this dressing room," he remarked suddenly, making her spin on her heel.

"Yeah..." she hesitated. "Pretty dramatic, wasn't it?"

"Yeah," he chuckled. 
Ricky didn't know what his subconscious mind told him to do. One, he wasn't completely sober, two, he was in a dream, three, he loved her so fucking much that he couldn't bear to lose her again.

"Well...party at Slices," she said. "See you."

"Wait."
He never expected for her to turn around. "I promise. This will be worth your while."

"Let's hear it, then."

Ricky took a step closer to Nini, knowing that he was about to risk everything and nothing. "I love you. I love you, so fucking much that it hurts. And I can't lose you again. If I'm going down, at least I'm doing it with you. I know. We'll fight, we'll pressure each other, but in the end, we'll give each other space, and we'll love each other. Think of everything we've been through; is it worth it to throw away just because of some disagreements?"

Nini didn't realize that she was crying until she was. "You were always one for big, dramatic speeches, weren't you, Richard?"

"Only for you, Nina, only for you."

She laughed and pulled him closer to her, kissing him ardently. A kiss ignited with passion, desire, love, and the promise of a future to come.

Nini sat up in bed, pinching herself. She looked around at the familiar setting and was brought back to earth. He wasn't there next to her. It took her a minute to figure out, he'd haunt everything. All of the what-if scenarios, my future, our future...

Suddenly, she heard a knock on the front door. Who could it possibly be this late in the night?

Then there he was. Standing on her porch, all those years later.
