Olivia Rodrigo, a free-spirited young woman of 18 with a larger-than-life personality and great ambitions. Her greatest passions are traveling and songwriting. She's quite introverted, although she loves talking to people.

Joshua Bassett is nothing short of ambitious. There's nothing he'd like more than to find romance, but he's stuck in a forced marriage to one he doesn't love.

They're both taking a trip to Rome, Liv to visit her mom's family on a two-week vacation, and Josh at his engagement party with his fiancee's family.

Liv arrived at the airport and saw that it was raining. Her favorite kind of weather, but not in this instance.

Of course, none of the taxis were available in this weather. She soon found shelter in a small stable, but she knew she wasn't alone. Something, or rather, someone, was in the corner, petting a small snow-colored pony.

"Who are you?" she questioned, stepping closer to the dark figure.

"That depends who's asking," a man's voice answered.

"I'm Olivia," she replied, holding out her hand for him to shake.

"Ah, Olivia," he repeated. "Your name in Latin means the olive trees that grow in Italy. Quite exquisite, really."

"Aren't you a flirt?" she chuckled good-naturedly.

He smiled and shook her hand. "I'm Joshua. Everyone calls me Josh, though."

"So, I'm not the only one crazy enough to be out here in this pounding rainstorm," Liv said as she combed the horse's mane with her hand.

"I just came here to see Neve," Josh laughed.

"Who's Neve? Your girlfriend?" Liv teased.

"The horse, actually," he answered, laughing at the look of surprise on her face.

"Well, looks like the rain's not letting up any sooner," the brunette stared out into the night. "Guess we're spending the night here."

Josh smiled and scooted over on the stable floor to make room for her. Soon, they fell asleep to the steady lullaby of the rain.

The next morning, when the rain was finally over, the pair went to a local restaurant.

"So, Joshua, what brings you to Rome? I know you're definitely not Italian, or you just don't have an accent. Going on a romantic getaway with your fiancée? Or you're like me, just seeing family and the sights?"

Josh bit the inside of his cheek, debating whether or not to tell her. "I'm here to visit family, too."

It wasn't wholly a lie. They were soon to be his family.

"I'm staying in a cottage in the woods near my aunt's house," Liv replied, sipping her café latte. "You can stop by  anytime you want."

There was something on his mind he'd been wanting to tell her. "Would you mind if I burst into song in the middle of this restaurant about my feelings for you?"
