"Come on, Grandpa, tell us a story!" six-year-old Hannah exclaimed.

"I don't know if I've got many left in me," Ricky chuckled. "I think I've told you all the stories I have too many times."

"Please!" four-year-old Ryder whined.

All of the kids gave him their best puppy-dog eyes. He turned to Nini. "Well, what do you say?"

"There's one you may not have heard yet," Nini smiled good-naturedly. "Have you ever heard about how your grandpa and I met?"

"I have!" Mickey exclaimed.

"We haven't," Debbie said.

"Well, it goes like this," I started to say.
"We met on the first day of kindergarten. I remember that it went like this."

"Hi, I'm Icky Bowen," he introduced to the small brunette girl in front of him.

"I'm Nina Salazar-Roberts," she replied. Instead of shaking his hand, she threw herself at him for a hug.

"Nini," he said.

"No, it's Nina. With an A."

"Nini!" the curly-headed boy insisted.

"Fine, I guess you can call me that. But only you, no one else."

"That nickname did stick. We instantly bonded and became best friends from that day on," Ricky smiled. "We were attached at the hip for years to come."

"I think you should tell them about your first play date," Carlos said.

Mike and Lynne Bowen pulled up to the driveway of the Salazar-Roberts house, their son Ricky on their heels. They saw two women open the door, and Nini right behind them.

Ricky eagerly bounded into the house and went to Nini's room, where he looked around in awe at the many posters and her ukulele. "Do you ply?"

"I've been writing a song," she said, grabbing the instrument. She began to sing, and Ricky hummed along tunelessly since he didn't know the words.

Even though all the lyrics contained the word "clouds" only, Ricky still thought it sounded quite good.

Then, she started to play Old McDonald, and the two kids burst into song. The adults were nothing short of happy to see their kids getting along so fabulously.

After that, Nini and Ricky went for a quick snack break in the kitchen, where they found another thing they had in common: they both loved chocolate chip cookies with milk.

"Remember when I ate your science project in fourth grade?"

"We both suffered too much on that one," Nini winced as she thought about the memory.

"Nini, moldy bread smells disgusting! And it looks disgusting! Maybe I should eat it already to get rid of it. I am hungry, anyways."

Nini was carefully examining the pieces of bread with the new microscope her moms had gotten her for Christmas. "I promise I'll feed you later, Richard."

Suddenly, Ricky shoved the two pieces of green bread down his mouth. "Ricky, what have you done?" Nini gasped.

His stomach began to gurgle. Ricky leaned over and barfed up the green and brown chunks. Nini mentally threw up at the sight of them on her shoes.
