How They Propose {Preference}

This preference is how THEY propose to YOU. The next one will be how YOU propose to THEM.

Jim: it took him a lot of planning and time to propose to you. He wanted to be sure you were ready and wanted to be with him, it had nothing to do with his work, he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you - he was sure of it. Before he proposes he (of course) gets your older brother's blessing (Harv), then sets up a date for the two of you when he has the night off (Harvey covers for him that night). He secretly has someone make the meal for him since he didn't have much time to cook but nonetheless, the gesture of food when you got home from a long day at work was super sweet. He proposes to you after you both finish dessert and chatting for a bit, expressing his love to you in these words:

"Y/N, I waited a long time to do this because I wanted to make sure you wanted it, too. It also took me a while to get the courage to ask Harv for his blessing, you know how he is with you. If you say no I understand, I'm not sure I'd want to be stuck with me either, I-"

"Jim, shut up and let me say yes." You giggle, shaking your head at him.

Bruce: currently, the two of you are too young to get engaged. However, he has told you that he secretly plans the ways he could in the future when the two of you are old enough and ready.

Jerome: because of all of his planning for the city and the crimes he commits (also your father), you rejected his proposal. You loved him with all your heart, but the idea of commitment was not your thing; it didn't exactly scare you, but you weren't able to tie yourself down to someone who was constantly putting his life in danger or getting himself thrown in Arkham. Some thought it was because you were afraid of committing yourself to someone like him, but really you just didn't want to get too attached as marriage entails and end up a widow.
