Chapter Twenty-One

"Suprise!" Multiple voices said in unison as familiar faces appeared from behind furniture.

My face was bright red.

Beginning to laugh, I hid my face in my hands. Kate ran over to me with the biggest smile on her face and tackled me in a hug.

"Happy Birthday, Julia!" She shouted.

"Thanks, Kate." I smiled.

"You can thank Niall, too. He helped." She laughed and winked at me.

I looked over Kate's shoulder to see Niall standing there with his hands in his pocket and a perfect little grin on his face.

I walked towards him. "Thanks, Niall." I smiled. I don't know what came over me, but this time I hugged him.

"You're welcome." Hugging me back, he spoke directly into my ear with his Irish accent, sending chills down my spine.

I hugged everyone and thanked them for coming.

"Present time!" Kate shouted. She grabbed a blue bag with pink tissue paper placed on top. "Open it!" She handed it to me and jumped up and down.

I sat down on the couch and placed the gift on my lap.

After pulling the tissue paper out and tossing it aside, a black box sat at the bottom of the bag.

Picking the box up in my hands, I opened it.

I saw the most gorgeous pair of earrings that sparkled every time I moved them.

"Oh my god, I love them!" I shouted and got up, tackling her in a hug.

"Yay! I'm glad!" She hugged back.

Some of my other friends handed me cards or a small gift. After thanking them, Kate called me over to her.

"Yeah?" I asked joining her by the 5 familiar lads.

"It's time for Niall's gift!" She squealed.

The looks on their faces made my stomach turn. What could it be?

"Close your eyes." Niall said and held out his hand. I did as he said and placed my hand over my closed eyes and grabbed Niall's hand with my other.

Kate followed behind and I could hear her squealing.

I walked into another room, or so I thought.

"Open your eyes." Niall said.

I uncovered my eyes and became completely speechless.

My mouth hung open as I stared at the black vehicle with tinted windows and a giant blue bow placed on top.

I was frozen.

Speechless.

All I did was stand there with my mouth open as I looked at Niall.

He had the biggest smile on his face.

"Julia, are you still alive?!" Kate shouted as she shook me back and forth.

"No way." I whispered.

I ran over to Niall and wrapped my arms around his neck, giving him the biggest hug I've ever given someone.

"Oh my god, Niall! Thank you!" I was like a little kid.

"I'm glad you like it." He smiled down at me as I smiled up at him.

"I can't believe you!" I said as I hugged him again, this time wrapping my arms around his waist and placing my head on his chest. He placed his hand on my lower back and laughed.

At this moment, I didn't care. I wasn't thinking about Josh or anything that had been on my mind 24/7.

I was just happy.

"Look at the lovebirds!" Louis yelled as three other familiar male faces showed up behind him.

"Awwwww!" They chorused.

"Shut up!" I laughed.

I let go of Niall.

"How about you take it for a test drive?!" Niall suggested.

"Yessss!" I said pulling him to the car.

I got behind the wheel as Niall got in on the passengers side.

Before putting the key in the ignition, I threw my hair into a ponytail.

I started the car, rolled down the windows, and blasted the radio.

"Ready?" I laughed as I questioned Niall.

"Yes as long as you don't crash." He laughed.

I pulled out of his garage and turned onto the street.

Geez, this car was fast!

I drove around for about ten minutes. Niall and I literally were laughing the entire time as I danced as horribly as I possibly could in my seat.

I made way back to Niall's flat and put the car in park.

"Smile!" Kate said as she whipped out her iPhone and snapped a picture of me and Niall in my new car.

We went back inside to have cake.

My cake was white outlined in blue and pink frosting and had 'Happy Birthday Julia' written on it in cursive.

I took a picture of it on my phone.

There was 17 candles placed on top and a candle which said '18'.

Kate lit up the candles as everyone gathered around behind me.

Someone rested their elbow on my shoulder and I looked up to see Niall smiling down at me. I returned the smile and faced the cake.

After everyone sang happy birthday, I blew out my candles and made a wish.

'I wish I could get a second chance at finding love.' I opened my eyes and watched the flames disappear.

Kate served everyone a slice of cake, which by the way was very delicious.

When I checked the time, it was a little past 11pm and people started leaving one by one.

After many more hugs and 'happy birthdays', it was me, Niall, and Kate left in his flat.

"I think I'm gonna get going." Kate announced. "I'll see you tomorrow, Happy Birthday, Jules!" She embraced me in a hug and then said goodbye to Niall.

We just crashed on his couch.

"This was the best birthday ever." I said as I sprawled myself across his couch.

"I'm glad." He smiled.

We sat in silence and I could see that Niall seemed... nervous.

Why would he be nervous?

That made me nervous.

I sat up and watched him look down at his hands in his lap.

"Are you okay?" I asked softly.

"Yeah..." He said.

We sat in silence until he spoke again.

"I really like you, Julia."
