I breathe out heavily and I look out the window. The breath fogs up the glass and I make a frowny face. I frown as the fog disappears. Glancing out the window I see my tree. Well it's on the property but I am the only one that uses it. I go over to the radio and turn it on slightly, causing my roommate, Diana to stir. It's on a volume so only I can hear it. The moon is full and can't help but think what it would be like on the moon, all alone.

What would the view be like? Would it be one of the most glorious things in the world, or would it be annoying? To see the same view everyday. No one to bother, and no one bothers me.

I stay at the window until sunrise, getting no sleep. I run on coffee and no sleep. It is unhealthy for an eight year old like me but what are you going to do? The radio softly plays Cigarette Daydreams by Cage the Elephant and I smile.

I sing softly, my soft voice trailing the lyrics and I close my eyes. The bright sun is beaming onto my skin and I smile bright. The soot in my hair sticking a little bit on the side of my face itches but I pay no mind to it.

"Collette! Come down sweetie!" I get off of the windowsill and tug down my nightgown as I pass the waking orphans. It's a little small on me, the orphanage doesn't get enough charity or money for us to get clothes. The dress only ends at the top of my thigh. I run down the stairs barefoot and see Mrs. Kay.

"Hi Mrs. Kay. What can I do for you?" I ask politely. I know she has guests by the way she called me. It has the tone, and the nickname sweetie.

"We have visitors." I knew that, just get to the point. "Anyways I want you to introduce yourself and show them around. Everyone should be up by now, am I correct?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Okay go ahead." She pushes my lower back and I see 5 boys.

"Hi, I'm Collette." Their eyes widen at my size. Sure I'm short but not that short. I'm 4 '0 and that's normal for eight year olds. I looked it up at the library. "What's your guy's names?"

"Harry." The brown curly haired bloke said. I liked his green eyes and I couldn't help but smile.

"Zayn." He seemed shy, which was really cute because of how scary he looked. Both of the them had hair that reached down to their shoulders

"Niall." Niall looked like a hugger, he also has a warm smile.

"Louis." He had brown hair and blue eyes. His ocean eyes made me smile.

"Liam." He looked like a puppy in human form.

"Okay well let me show you around." I tugged on my dress subconsciously and they followed behind me. I led them into where the girls eat and when I opened the door for them I heard a bunch of squeals. I couldn't help but cover my ears.

My ears are overly sensitive, people often mistaken me for being on the spectrum but they're wrong. A lot of the side effects for having ear problems are depression, anxiety, social problems and ear pain. Only a few of those have I actually seen which are ear pain and anxiety but nothing else.

Sometimes I will have trouble connecting with someone else but it all depends. "Collette, are you okay?" Someone starts shaking me and I open my eyes to see 5 people looking down at me. I widen my eyes and nod. Removing my hands from my ears I look around and see almost everyone gone. "Are you alright Collette?"

"Im fine, I just have sensitive ears." They nod and we continue the tour. "So this is the main room, we either watch television or we just chat amongst ourselves."

After I showed them around they seemed to get the gist of everything so I let them anywhere except for the girl bathrooms. This orphanage is an all girls orphanage, they say we are easier to handle but I dont think thats true. Girls are just as energetic as boys but it's the mere idea that makes every girl go down.

"Collette?" I look over my shoulder and see the 5 boys.

"Yes?"

"How come there are no boys?" Zayn asks, speaking my thoughts.

"This is an all girls orphanage. What that means is that they thought us girls would be easier to handle, however I don't think that's true." The boys nodded while Harry crouched below me.

"Why don't you think that's true. Out of curiosity."

"Girls are just as energetic as men. In Fact I think any girl can do anything a guy can do. Plus Mrs. Kay told us we were easier."

"And why is that? Why do you believe that?" I could tell he was genuinely curious so I decided to answer.

"Just because we are a different gender doesn't mean we are different as a whole."

"Have you given this a lot of thought?"

"Of course she does, I can hear her playing music at 1am." Diana says walking in, slinging her arm around my shoulder and I frown.

"Diana, I don't want to get in trouble." Harry puts a hand on my shoulder and looks at me with concern.

"Why are you awake that early?"

"I can only get around 1 hour of sleep at night so I just stay awake and watch the moon, it truly is incredible." We all started walking back into the main room while I spoke.

"What's so great about the moon?" Diana smiles slightly and leaves as she pats my back.

"You guys ask a lot of questions." I giggle at the end.

"Collette! You do not say that to a guest. Do you hear?"

"Yes Mrs. Walsh. Bye guys." I wave at all of them and they wave back.
