All her life, Liana Robertson wanted the type of romance her grandparents had for each other. She wanted a story book wedding, she wanted someone to hold her when she cried, and surprised her with remarkable tactics. Now in her freshmen year of college, each day that fantasy grows a little more out of reach and she didn't know if she would be able to grasp it again.
After the death of his mother, the last thing Ian Donahue wanted was to pick up his guitar and write songs again. But when his friends encourage him to take a small step by singing a country song cover at the local bar's Open Mic Night, he was given more than he bargained for.
When these two lives collide by a chance encounter, a relationship blooms so strong that it could move a mountain.
Through their relationship, Ian is introduced to James Robertson- Liana's grandfather. And James had some letters for the young couple that he wrote his wife before, during, and after his time serving in World War II.
Letters that would impact the young couple more than they would ever know.
But when tragedy strikes, the now emotionally distraught couple must figure out if their love can survive on its own...
Or if there was more to it that they haven't seen yet.

Or better yet, not at all." ... "Whatever the past is Tessa. You have to let it go. There's no past that can't be forgotten." ... "Everything I have to say has already crossed your mind-" I break off to let him complete which I knew he will. I just didn't know it would sound so much... more. "-then possibly my answer has crossed yours." ... "Alright so I'm feeling absolutely terrible and I feel like I'm cheating on them both when in reality I'm dating neither so I can't cheat. But then I feel I have and I don't know which one to feel more guilty about." ... It's not a kiss that's impulsive, violent, or rushed. It's one that feels like it has long been waited for, and it's every bit worth the wait. ... "Every time I've been there for everyone. Yet when I cry, I'm alone. And now I've started to prefer the same." ... "I need you to choose me, tell me, you choose me." ... "But you'll hate me." "I love you." Everything made sense. ... "Love and loyalty are not mistakes, Theresa." ...

50 parts Complete Mature

They say that in life, we all have three great loves. The first arrives in adolescence-innocent, filled with dreams and illusions. The second teaches you pain, and you cling to it even knowing it was never meant to be. It's the kind of love you once wished would last forever, but instead, it helped you grow. The third love is the one you never saw coming. You let it happen without expectations-just you, allowing yourself to be surprised. It's the love that heals old wounds and makes you genuinely happy. It's the love that teaches you how to love for real. It's the true one. This story is dedicated to all those still carrying wounds from that second love. Don't be afraid to move forward. Don't shut your heart, even if it's in a thousand pieces. Something better is coming.
