Nalani Curtis just wants friends. A chance to form friendships was all she wanted since her dad's job transferred them to a new city, and a new school. But within the first week of attending Zimmerman High School, Nalani makes a name for herself as someone to be avoided. She didn't mean to. But she has always been the type of person to stand up for what is right, so when she noticed signs of bullying, she couldn't help but step in. The fact that they led to physical altercations was purely accidental, but to her fellow students, it marked her as someone to be wary of. Following the fights with the two bullies, as well as the little arguments that she got caught in with one of them, Nalani undergoes her own form of bullying by rumors online and a bad reputation. This, unfortunately, leads to her fellow classmates steering far away from her. One day, however, everything changes, and the lack of friends no longer matters. Fellow students become violent, acting like the fictional zombies found in movies. Nalani finds herself trapped in the school filled with hundreds of zombies, plus other survivors. And when she chooses to use her skills to help rather than selfishly focus on herself, she might just find the friendships that she was hoping for, as well as something more.
