The five Lions of Voltron... they combine to become the Defender of the Universe. But is there more to their story than meets the eye?

For 10,000 years, the evil Galra Empire led by Emperor Zarkon has plagued the universe by destroying and enslaving entire civilizations. The only known threat strong enough to stand against the Empire is the legendary "Defender of the Universe" Voltron, a 100-meter tall robot warrior composed of six robot Lions whose pilots are known as the Paladins of Voltron. The sixth, however, is a very important piece. It acts as Voltron's protector, and the pilot acts as a shield to the other pilots. Unfortunately, the mighty robot was separated long ago by the king of planet Altea, Alfor, in order to prevent its power from falling into the hands of Zarkon. King Alfor connected the six Lions to the life force of his daughter, Princess Allura, and hid them across the universe at different locations. Princess Allura and her advisor Coran were hidden on planet Arus along with the Black Lion, placed in a deep sleep within the Castle of Lions in hopes that Alfor could return to awaken them, but the king was slain by Zarkon. In the present, the Galra Empire's path of conquest and search for Voltron leads them to Earth's solar system where they take a crew of space explorers captive. A year later, one of the crew members, Shiro, escapes imprisonment and returns to Earth with warning of the alien threat. A group of space cadets - Lance, Hunk, Pidge, Keith, and Corinne - help Shiro discover the Blue Lion hidden away on Earth, sweeping the group up into the ancient war. They awaken Princess Allura, reunite the six Lions as the new Paladins to form Voltron, the sixth immediately going back to being a protector, and fight to defeat the entire Galra Empire.

The Paladin's morning starts out like any other day...that is until Coran and Allura run into the room, lock the door, and turn off the lights telling everyone to stay quiet.

Basically me rewriting Stargate SG1 episode Divide and Conquer into Voltron. With cute, adorable Plance fluff and plangst. Be aware, it's going to be a wild ride, but it will have a good ending. Keith's life is incredibly mundane and mediocre, especially considering some people possess superhuman powers while he has none. He's content steering clear of anything to do with Voltron, the new team of super-vigilante prodigies that use their powers to fight crime in the city, but after a man being controlled by an ill-intending "villain" nearly kills Keith, claiming he possesses a dangerous artifact, things don't go as planned. After all, coming home to find a self-proclaimed superhero sitting on your window ledge saying that you are in imminent danger isn't something that happens every day. Lance and Keith are mortal enemies, and their constant snide remarks and bickering are beginning to annoy the other Paladins. The only times they get along are when one Is saving the other's butt. When Shiro and Pidge are taken by Galra soldiers, the remaining three Paladins have to bring them back. Keith has to be used as bait, Hunk's not acting quite right, and Lance has begun confining himself to his room. The three seem to be going crazy, and nothing seems to turn out quite right. But unfortunately, Keith falls into the Galra's hands, Lance blames himself. It's all his fault, and the only way to clear himself of the guilt is to save Keith. But at what cost?
