This is a very short story that meshes fantasy with science-fiction. There is certainly a matrix subtext by the end of the work, but before then it reads like a sober pipe dream, if that makes sense. In a way, I suppose that is exactly what it is...a sober pipe dream.

Wilms' Tumor is a cancer that forms on and in the kidneys, and can go unnoticed due to no drastic symptoms; however, untreated it can be deadly. While some hope does remain, her parents encourage her to do whatever her heart desires in the last year of high school. And in life. All hope seems lost to Becca until she meets someone new. Someone inspiring. Someone surprising. Someone worth living for. Will she hopelessly fall in love? Or will she push away and enclose herself to make sure no one else gets hurt in her downward spiral? All of the names of people and places are completely made up and out of my imagination.

The story is told through the eyes of an unnamed narrator, who is simultaneously unreliable and extremely insightful, and does not seem to mind his situation, His odyssey takes him through America's seedy fringes, orbiting dark underbellies, and making questionable choices that put him in a few harrowing situations. His musings will make you laugh, and his actions will break your heart, all within the same sentence. Take the trip, and see where it goes.
