Three years I have been without Aunt Helen, and it still feels like a fresh, open wound. Matt and his dad, John, have done their best to be there for me, even taking me into their home after my aunt disappeared, but something is missing. The simple life in our small town is not that bad, even the place of some people's dreams; small town vibe in a natural wonderland. I make enough between waitressing and guiding in the fall to live comfortably, but lately, I feel restless, desiring more in my life. For as long as I can remember, I have always pictured a life full of travel and adrenaline inducing experiences. The summons to Victoria regarding Aunt Helen's will opens a can of worms that I might not be ready for. I have to trust these Nemelatro because they might be able to guide me to find out what happened to my aunt and discover what I am truly capable of. Hopefully, they will even be able to train me to survive the consequences of my family's secrets and past.

What they find leads them further into the King of Bones' path, an action that could not only endanger their own lives, but others as well for, as Lulu says, a man who calls himself the King of Bones isn't a man you can trust to follow the rules. I could feel the dried leaves crunch under my toes. The woods may have looked the same to someone else, but I knew where I was going. I always knew where I was going. I could feel my breath being exhaled every time I stretched my legs to run farther. Run, run, run. My dark long, brown, curly hair was being fluttered by the wind and I loved the feeling of it being whipped in the air. Almost there. I could almost see it. Oh the air smelled so enticing here. I felt as if I could do anything. My feet were so use to the Earth's ground and like always, I felt at home in the woods. They're getting closer, I could hear them. They were loud and disturbing. The river. I could see it now. I threw myself into the water and swam to the other side. I couldn't help a smirk that slid onto my face. As I pulled myself out of the water, I saw the pack barely making it from the side of the river I came from. I turned around and faced four, breathless men, seperated by the river. "Too slow. Go back to your territory, for I am no longer in yours." I smiled at that. "What's your name?" One of the men said. His voice was stern and somewhat humiliated, not that I really cared. My head turned to look back at them and the Alpha, I had the biggest smile that I couldn't seem to hold back. "Alaska." And I started to sprint towards the trees once more.

He ran his thumb back and forth across my lower lip as he held my chin up so that I had to look into his eyes. His right hand held fast to the small of my back. I tried to push him off, but it only made him squeeze tighter. His aura told me he was an Alpha. In my line of work I learned fast that you get more flies with honey than with vinegar, so I pressed my hips to him and slowly started to grind. I brought my one hand to his at my jaw and guided his hand down to my breast. My other hand went to his ear, and lazily, I dragged my forefinger along his jawline and back, then down towards his collar. He began to unfold into my embrace. I lean in and trace the path of my finger with my tongue. A heavy sigh escaped his lips before his hand grabs a fist of my hair and tugs it back harshly. "Don't test me." He growls as his eyes flashed to an intense emerald-flecked with honey. "Don't play with fire, if you're afraid to get burned" I retort without hesitation. We stare each other down for another moment and I realize I have been entranced by this man and haven't been aware of my surroundings. I've been oblivious to the roaring of the band and crowds ever since our skin came into contact. I inhale deep, and deliberately to re-initiate my keen senses again. I'm battling myself though. Not only is his scent engulfing me in arousing waves, but I am aware of the taste of him on my tongue. Oh fuck, I've found my mate.
