Angel's Pov
The freezing hand of my savior pulled me back to the ground from the ditch I was dangling from with cuts all around my arms and knees "That hurts!" I cried, wiping my tears with the back of my hand "Why didn't you come when I needed help?!" All my friends came to check up on me all at once "You're all so mean!"
"They said they were searching for you through the tall grass everywhere" I stopped crying and looked up at a boy whom I met before a long time ago "Snivy saw you and told me where you were" I looked down at the Snivy I saw earlier.
"Ah, I see..." I sniffled "I am lucky then. Thank you, Snivy" Snivy nodded "and thank you... N, was it?" He slowly nodded and looked at his hand he held me with "I am thankful you were around to save me. How can I ever repay you?" He looked at my Lampent.
"I came to see how your Lampent was doing. It was in pain earlier in battle..." he walked up to Lampent "I couldn't hear the voice of its heart while it was in pain, but it somehow was in pain with you" I softly gasped.
"You can read the hearts of Pokémon too?" He was surprised to discover what I was able to do "I do not understand them in proper English, but I understand them through emotions" he nodded.
"I understand in English..." he glanced away, feeling a bit awkward around me.
"Oh, forgive me. I may have seemed to come on too strong" I held my chest "I also can understand the heart of others" his eyes widened again "If I make you uncomfortable, forgive me. Thank you very much for rescuing me" I looked at my friends feeling guilty for not rescuing me on time "I am not upset. You tried finding me, and that's all that matters" Sableye was holding up my Griseous orb. I shouldn't take it in front of N. "let's go find Blade" I nodded to Sableye to keep the orb for now and watched them all leave.
"Huh?" N looked around confused as I picked up my egg "Where did they go?" He asked me.
"Hm? I'm not really sure" they just wander on their own and follow me in the shadows.
"You don't have them in capsules like other people do?" I shook my head.
"Zebstrika is the only one who has a Pokéball"
"An interesting human..." I looked at him confused "not many humans would let their Pokémon free-" I quickly stood close to him and looked around when feeling a shadow nearby.
"Shh... They react faster when they hear loud noises" I felt his eyes on me before looking around with me. I carefully gave my egg to him "Take my egg to safety. I need to handle something without letting my egg get hurt"
"What are you going to do...?" We snapped our heads to the side when hearing a loud roar coming from that direction. Shuppet and Misdreavus hurried to handle it. Before we knew it, there were multiple shadows forming all around us that were as big as houses.
"W-Why are there so many shadows here?!" All my friends went off to handle the situation to make things easier for me, but there were so many around us that I didn't have enough friends to help me "Zebstrika, come out and use your light!" I threw its Pokéball to send it out, but it never opened "What?!"
"Pokéballs don't work in this forest" N said.
"W-Why?!"
"This forest is unique. There are many stories of people going crazy out here and taking their lives... Some say its magnetic fields that prevent Pokéballs or electronics from working" he was awfully calm for someone who is witnessing moving shadows all around him!
"People take their lives here...?" I looked around horrified "It's no wonder... This forest is so dark and covered in these shadows! We need light to take them down!" Lampent was too busy to assist me. I felt my breath thickening in fear that a shadow would end up taking over me "W-What do I do...? I never battled against them before" I hung onto N's arm "What do I do...? I can't use Zebstrika for light... light... they're going to take my light"
"Hey..." N called me. I was too focused on myself that I almost forgot I have a person, who doesn't know about my mission or me, in the middle of all this! I'm even holding his arm without his permission "I don't know what's going on... but you obviously do. Be strong" I flinched, remembering the thing my real father and Blade told me "Find a solution to handle this. I can help you as much as I can"
"Sni!" Snivy nodded, agreeing. I don't want to involve anyone in this mess. As nice as it was for him to offer help, I must do this on my own...
"Everyone!" I shouted at my friends fighting against a shadow bigger than it was "Use... Use Will-O-Wisp!" Everyone came together to form balls of fire to light the surrounding areas of where the shadows was and started to shrink.
"I got you!" I took out the keystone and lifted it high in the air, watching every single shadow sink into it for the past ten minutes. I've grown tired and collapsed backwards, getting caught by N carefully kneeling and letting me rest on his legs.
"F-Forgive me for getting you in this situation. I should have acted more quickly..."
"How can I expect you to act more quickly?" I awkwardly scratched my cheek "You and your Pokémon did well..." I looked at all my friends around me and smiled at their accomplishments. I normally don't encourage them to use will-o-wisp at all, since it's a move that uses remaining light energy from any shadow nearby. It is very dangerous and risky, but it worked out in the end!
"Thank you" I sat up as he handed me back my egg. At same time we held it, we felt the egg moving and started to glow. I hurriedly set it down on the ground with N to watch it about to be born soon!
"You're a strange trainer" he said. I sweat dropped at the comment, not knowing how to take it "but your Pokémon..." he smiled at Lampent "I feel real love in your friends. I really like that" he smiled at me kindly. My heart seemed to have fluttered at the sight of it.
"Thank you for noticing" I stared at him for a bit to read his heart, never realizing how bright he was after being occupied with everything that's happened "What a bright heart you have..."
"Bright heart?" He asked.
"Humans have a shiny heart... just like Pokémon" I looked at the egg "This egg has a bright heart as well. Bright hearts are special. They see things normal people don't see, but they can also be delicate..." the egg shined more and finally turned into a shape completely until the shine disappeared!
"Pichu!" A Pichu cheered. I gasped and offered my finger. It held it and electrocuted me, but it didn't hurt.
"What a beautiful Pokémon, quite rare" N said.
"Your heart shines bright just as bright as I first felt it" I lift it in the air "your light is precious. Let us let it continue to shine" it cheered and climbed my shoulder. I then looked at N talking with Snivy, then looked at me.
"Again, I'm sorry for dragging you into this" I bowed my head.
"Not a problem. I got to see what no one ever got to see" he closed his eyes "but that's not really anything new... Many people just don't understand. The truths of Pokémon inside Pokeballs, the ideals of how trainers should be, and a future where Pokémon have become perfect... Do you feel the same?" I looked at him confused.
"Pokémon are already perfect" I looked up at Lampent "there are many bad people in the world, but don't think every single person is the same. Pokémon are connected to their trainer in all kinds of ways. Take Lampent and I... We are connected in a spiritual way. Whatever I feel, it feels. Lampent understands me" I smiled.
"Whatever you feel? It feels?" I nodded.
"Lampent and I have known each other since I was young. It's always been by my side when I need her. Lampent is perfect. I have seen a lot of Pokémon during my time here and they seem perfect to me" N looked at me surprised then smiled.
"That's so? I think my friends and I should test you to see if you can see this future, too" he looked at Snivy, it stood in front of him, ready for a battle.
I frowned and looked at my Pokémon. Can I really expect those wisps or my shadow to not interfere...? I closed my eyes and nodded "fine" I looked at Lampent "let's do this" Lampent nodded as we made space to battle.
"Great! Let me hear your Pokémon's voice again! Go Snivy! Use Leaf Tornado!" Snivy spun around and made leaves appear into a Tornado!
"Fire Spin!" Lampent's flames overcame Snivy's tornado and destroyed its attack without giving it a chance to defend itself. Snivy immediately lost the battle.
"That was... quick" looks like it was quick enough to keep my shadow and the wisps from taunting me. What... What a great start!
"Ah..." N frowned and looked down at the fainted Pokémon. The two of us went to check up on Snivy. I had some berries for it to recover "Right now, my friends aren't strong enough. If Snivy couldn't win, the others can't" he stood up and faced me. He's tall... "They aren't strong enough to save all Pokémon" save all Pokémon? "Maybe I can't solve the equation that will change the world. So, I need power... power enough to make anyone agree with me" he tried to pass by me, but a vine had tripped him over and made him fall on top of me.
"Agh... That hurts!" I whined. He took his weight off of me and looked at me surprised. My face and ears felt very hot "A-Are you alright?" He nodded and sat on the floor, digging in his pocket to hand me a hankie. I shyly took it and wiped away the sweat that creeped up when being so close to him.
"Now I know what power I need" he said suddenly "Zekrom!"
"Zekrom?" I started thinking "is that a Pokémon?"
"The legendary Pokémon that, along with the hero, created the Unova region" I looked at him surprised.
"I don't understand..."
"Hm?"
"My father told me nearly every legendary Pokémon that does important things for the world... Why has he never told me about a Zekrom?" He closed his eyes and stood up.
"It's my turn to become that hero" he looked at me and smiled "I like you" my face burned up! "You're a lot like me. Maybe you and I can become friends" he started walking away. The Snivy stayed behind.
"Wait!" He turned around "aren't you forgetting your Pokémon?" He smiled and fixed his hat.
"It's not mine. Pokémon are not something you own... It is indeed a friend. It deserves to live free out here" he gave me a nod and left.
Snivy and I made eye contact. It huffed at me and looked away. Reading it, it was curious of me but didn't want to show it. I smiled and looked at Pichu.
"Pichu? I want you to meet a very good friend of mine. He's very good!" It cheered and electrocuted my whole body, but I didn't feel a thing.
"That's odd..." I frowned and scratched my head "Oh well!" I stood up looked down at Snivy staring at me "This forest is safe now, so you don't have to worry anymore. I'm sorry for defeating you. I hope the berry was enough" it stared at the berry in her vines and ate it coolly. I smiled and waved as I walked away "goodbye!"
I ran back to Nacrene City with my new Pokémon to see the glory of a beautiful city for the first time "Do you see this, Pichu? It's very beautiful, isn't it?" It nodded and looked around amazed "You just hatched, so seeing all this must really be fascinating. I thought that too when I first came from the Distortion World"
"Pichu?" I giggled and petted its head.
"You're so cute"
"Pichu!" It giggled and cuddled with my cheek. Its heart is so bright...
"Listen, Pichu" it listened while I walked around "There's these things called shadows. People and Pokémon have them all, even you"
"Pichu?" it pointed at itself confused.
"We need a body, soul, shadow and heart. You have a bright heart like me, so your shadow will try to take over you" it gasped "to keep it from doing that, you must be brave" it put its small hands in fist and nodded "also, I am hunting for wild shadows that no longer have a body to stay in... because I don't have a shadow, they will try to hurt me because I have a bright heart" I held my heart "to keep those shadows away, a light must be around, and since you're an electric type, you can keep them away and not have yours take over you as easy like mine took over me" it nodded and made its cute little cheeks spark "good girl, now let's go find the Pokémon gym" I looked at Lampent "find Blade for me" it nodded and led the way.
I walked into a museum and looked around in awe "look at all these cool things!"
"Pi!" Pichu hid in my bag after getting frightened by how huge some structures were. A man with a white coat and eyeglasses turned around after looking at some... bones? And noticed me.
"Welcome! I'm Hawes! The assistant director"
"I'm Angel! And this is Pichu" I pointed, Pichu waved shyly "and Lampent" Lampent bowed and disappeared. The man looked surprised.
"Oh! I recognize you!" He smiled.
"You do?"
"You were the young lady who was battling with the young man who is challenging my wife, but then you disappeared in the mist... May I ask if you are okay?" I shyly smiled.
"Yes, I am feeling better" he nodded "do you happen to know where my friend is? You said he was challenging your wife?" He nodded.
"Yes. She's the Gym Leader of this City" oh, that makes sense "they're battling right now, but until then, may I show you around? Our museum holds many things that other places don't normally show for the public to see" I gasped excitedly.
"I would love to!"
"Pichu Pichu!" Pichu cheered after I got excited.
"Great! Well, if you look up here, you'll see the skeleton on the largest Dragonite that ever lived!"
"A Dragonite??" He nodded.
"Yes, there's a theory that it had an accident while it was flying around the world, and so it became a fossil" Wow! That was so cool!
We walked around and had an amazing time looking at unique things.
"This rock is amazing!" The director said while showing a rock with a pretty color "it's a meteorite"
"Meterorite?" I started thinking "something that comes from an area called space" he nodded "Wow..." the director then walked me around more. A pretty white orb with some dents on it caught my eye.
"Oh, this? It's an ordinary old stone. It was found near the desert"
"What was it doing there?"
"Not sure, but other than the fact that it's old, it doesn't seem to have any value. We only display it because it's rather pretty to look at" Indeed, I really wanted to touch it...
"Since it doesn't have any value, may I... hold it?" He made a thinking face.
"I suppose it'll be alright" he picked it up and placed it on my hands. My mind started showing me images of flying in the air with a white Pokémon...
The image disappeared after a few seconds... What was that? "Are you alright?" The director asked. I nodded and gave the orb back to him.
"Yes..." I looked at Pichu "did you see that?" She looked at me confused "maybe I'm just seeing things" I looked behind me and saw a bunch of Team Plasma grunts marching in and looking at the area.
"Who are they? They look suspicious" the director frowned.
"They are very mean people... Team Plasma" he looked at me surprised and at the grunts.
"Are you the director here?" One of them asked, the director gulped nervously.
"Yes..." a bug type Pokémon shot it's string shot towards us. I blocked the director and got trapped.
"Great! We'll be stealing some bones now!"
"What?!" I gasped "Quick! Go get help!" The director nodded and ran off, the bug type was about to attack "oh no you don't! Pichu! Use an attack!" It nodded and used a slight thunder shock and attacked the bug type but injured itself right back.
"Why you little!" the grunt glared. Some lady and the director came running.
"You all! Enough fooling around!" I felt something... I turned around and saw a girl in uniform hiding her brown hair, and blue eyes glaring up at the Dragonite fossil. Her heart... Her shadow had taken over... That means her heart was bright as well...
