HATE's Hold

His vision cleared of musk and his eyes began to focus. It was as if he'd been awakened after all this time, and was barely starting to feel again. Sans's voice shot like a bullet through the hate.

"Come back, G. Come back. If you fight the pain, it'll be worth it at the end."

It would be worth it. He couldn't back down now, for the sake of him, Papyrus, and-

Sans was ripped away from him as the beast kicked him to the ground. His vision went blurry again with no one to help him fight it anymore, but he quickly regained his composure. The sky's dim starlight started to fade away.

"You have all this hate, yet you can't muster up to kill a bonebag with ONE HEALTH?!" Brown boots stomped towards him as he lifted his head. His hands flashed behind him on his command now, not controlled by anyone at all.

Betty growled as the hands flashed, quickly summoning her spear at throwing it at him. It skewed his soul and slammed it against the dome's wall, hate trying to cling onto it but dripping onto the ground anyways.

He spoke with determination although his form was fading to dust. "Now I know... Whatever you do to me, I can fight it for them." A smile crept up on his lips as the purple faded from his eyes.

The beast smiled back. "That may be the case with that amount of hate... But what will it take for you to be covered in it?" His form gave out, fading to dust as the spear came back to Betty. She cradled the hate dripping from it and clenched her fist, meshing the soul with it forcefully.

She laughed as she opened her clawed hand again, letting even more hate spiral from her fingertips to wrap around the soul tight. It was completely blackened when it finished.

Betty retracted the dome, seeing Jessica, Sans, and Papyrus stand before her. She took a deep breath and grinned as she allowed the soul to drop from her claws, the form whirling around it.

Only, the wind became stronger around them. It didn't seem to be forming what they knew as Gaster anymore, and instead made Hate seemingly come alive.

A giant explosion knocked all of them away, seemingly blocking out every star in the sky.

-----------------------------

A beam of lightning shot in front of Chara, making him frantically stop running and reel back.

"Why do you like her now?" A gun formed in Asriel's hands and shot at Chara, who dodged them while asking "W-Who?!"

"The one who KILLED Sans!" Asriel roared in anger. Chara responded desperately. "A-Asriel, she's helping us now!" "Yeah, sure, she's HELPING. I used to look up to you, y'know? But now I see that you're just a lunatic."

Chara reached out to Asriel, but a warning light glowed on the ground above him. He gasped and jumped out of its way, the beam crashing down onto the ground and shattering the street.

Chara tumbled across the ground, not landing on his feet. Asriel landed in front of the road and walked towards him, but Chara got up and ran as fast as he could towards the safe perimeter.

"GET BACK HERE!" Star shaped blades shot at Chara as he huffed. Mom and dad had to be here if he had any hope of saving him.

The Avalon's shield shattered with a blast from Chara's blade, and the same guards flooded to see the boy who had been sobbing about a teddy bear holding a knife and a shield.

"MY TEDDY BEAR'S STILL BACK THERE, I'M HAVING SOME-!" Asriel leapt towards Chara with a sword and he blocked it in the nick of time. "-SOME PROBLEMS GETTING TO IT! PLEASE DON'T LET PEOPLE GO OUTSIDE!"

The guards nodded frantically, letting Chara run towards the tent the whole family resided in. He screamed with all his might. "MOOOOOOOOOOM! DAAAAAAAAAAAD!" Toriel and Asgore practically tripped over each other coming out of the tent.

"I GOT-" Asriel roared, interrupting Chara again. Stars rained down on all of them, making the tent collapse and the Dreemurr parents frantically dodge them. "-I GOT HIM!"

"Well, damn!" Undyne was suddenly next to them. "That's a lotta sibling rivalry! You and lady Toriel have got it pretty bad, eh?" Toriel looked to Undyne in sheer confusion while Asgore began to nod. "...Yes. We do." "Don't say that, Asgore, they're both delights-" "I-I mean, we-"

"MOM! DAD! HELP ME GET TO HUG MY BROTHER PLEASE!" Asriel still thrashed about, throwing all he had at them. Undyne pointed to another tent across the perimeter. "I'm gonna leave ya to it!"

Toriel nodded and ran forward towards Asriel, not summoning any of her fireballs. Asriel scowled at all of them as Chara looked to him with determination in his eyes. He pulled the locket from inside his shirt, holding it out to Asriel.

"I know you remember this, Asriel. Our friendship. Our fun times. Please, if you would just-" "W-What...? How did you get that locket?" Asriel stuttered as Chara gasped. He couldn't tell him the timelines were switched.

"S-So it's not yours?! Then how do I have this?!" Asriel held out his locket as Chara took shaky breaths. "I... I..."

Hate began to wrap around Asriel's sweater, gripping it tight. He dropped to his knees with an amalgamated scream, Chara reaching for him and yelling-

An explosion blocked out the moonlight, rising up to the sky. Hate began to seep from Asriel onto the ground, but it slunk out of him and towards where Gaster was. Chara helped Asriel to his feet as he groaned, fluttering his green eyes open.

"C-Chara-!" Tears welled his eyes and Chara's as well, their lockets shining bright. A roar and a crash echoed through the place, effectively ending the moment. "Asriel, that hate left you by choice... And it has to go to someone else to survive."

"I-I was fighting it, but then it just... Didn't want to fight me anymore. It left." Chara looked at him with confusion. "What? What happened, then? Did we save you?" "No... I'm not sure you did. Something pulled me over there, but then that something crawled out and away."

He looked to the sky, black lining the darkened clouds in the explosion's afterglow. The Avalon's glow was the only thing keeping everything light.

Asriel widened his eyes as Asgore stepped next to them. "What do you mean, Chara?" "I-I mean that the hate has to have a vessel. I don't know why it would..."

He gasped with sudden realization. "It's being attracted to it's own hate, which was Betty's. But this hate's vessel... I can sense it being stronger, like uncle Gaster's powers."

Asgore nodded in understanding. "Then we have no time to lose. We must break Dr. Gaster free from the chains that hold him." Chara nodded with determination and looked to Asriel.

"Oh, Miss Grey is our aunt now. And Gaster is our uncle. Please don't attack aunt Jess. I'll show you she's cool." Asriel looked to Chara with utter confusion as he started to run towards the scene, but then trailed behind holding his locket. "H-Hey! Wait up!"

Rave's voice yelled into the night. "HOLD IT, KID!" Chara stopped and slimmed his eyes at Rave. "Oh. It's visor man. Asriel, this guy is an official doofus." Asriel nodded in understanding, slimming his eyes along with Chara.

"A doofus who's gonna help you save your aunt." He pulled out multiple healing wands. "We're actually saving our uncle, dimwit." "Chara, be nice." Toriel scolded.

Rave turned to the Dreemurr parents and put on a slight smile. "Ah, I don't believe we've met. I'm Rave Rutrow." "Asgore Dreemurr. A pleasure to meet you." "Apologies for the mess we've caused to your city, Mister Rutrow." Toriel said it as she shook his hand.

"Oh, it's no problem. We'll make sure you guys get the treatment and rights you need after this whole thing is ov-"

A roar made its way through the city, shaking the ground slightly. Asriel and Chara hugged each other tight while the Dreemurrs and Rave tried to balance themselves. Rave held the healing wands with determination and looked to Chara.

"Let's go kick his ass." "Let's not go kick his ass, visor man. We're SAVING his ass." Rave rolled his eyes and started to run towards the explosion's heart, everyone following close behind.
