LUCAS' P.O.V.
"Ceres...it's okay to get a little close" Roman said as we looked at Ceres who was sitting on a tall chair at the island with a broom in her hand. She was using it to push the food bowl towards Bubble who was just staring back at her from it's place on the floor.
Yes, they named it Bubble. I had no partaking in the naming. They named it that because Bubble actually liked taking the bath we gave her and if anything didn't want to get out of the tub. She was very relaxed the entire time and didn't have a problem at all with being in the soapy water.
"No...I'm okay from here" Ceres said as she made sure her feet were no where near the ground.
Ceres had been extremely cautious around Bubble despite Bubble being nothing but friendly. Well, friendly to her. To us, Bubble hisses and has even almost scratched Kade's face which would not have ended up well for Bubble.
"This cat eats a lot" Ares said as he watched Bubble eat her food at a fast pace.
"It probably hasn't had a good meal in a while" I said as I crouched near Bubble in an attempt to try my hand at becoming familiar with her. I could tell that even though this cat was quick to rub up on Ceres, she didn't like fast approaches towards herself.
When sensing my presence, Bubble turned to me and gave a short hiss before running towards the chair that Ceres was sitting on and immediately Ceres tensed.
"Yeah well, that was the last of her food. I guess I'll have to go out later and get some more" Kade said with a sigh.
"Hm...you think it's pregnant?" Ares asked and we all looked at him eyed.
"P-Pregnant?! Why would you think that?" Kade asked and Ares shrugged.
"Well, Bubble is pretty small so I doubt a cat her size would eat this much unless she were pregnant" He said.
"I'm not ready to be a mother all over again..." Kade muttered.
"Let's not jump to any conclusions. Maybe she's just a hungry cat" I said.
"I mean, there's also the fact that she's a stray. We have no idea what's happened to her before she came here" Ares just kept adding more and more plausible reasons as to why this cat could be pregnant and by the end Kade looks like he'd lost a few years off his life span.
It's understandable since Kade was always the one taking care of us. He did the cooking, cleaning, made sure we were up for school on time, etc. and everything that follows.
"I guess it doesn't hurt to get it checked out" I said and Kade nodded.
"But that means Ceres will have to come, Bubble won't go unless you do" Kade said and Ceres frowned.
"Can't you just like...pretend to be me?" She asked and I chuckled at her question.
"Even if we put on the best disguise, it would still know that we aren't you. Bubble knows your scent" I said and Ceres frowned.
"It's okay, Honey. It's just for a little while" Kade said and Ceres' frown deepened.
"That doesn't make it any better..."
After quite some time of convincing Ceres, we headed to the mall and on the way there Kade scheduled an appointment at the veterinarian for Bubble.
The entire way, Ceres was the embodiment of uncomfortable as Bubble snoozed away on her lap. She was as still as a statue as she just stared down at Bubble, afraid that if she made the wrong move then something bad would happen.
The poor girl was just straight up petrified and I had no idea how long it would take for her to get used to Bubble.
When we got to the mall, we walked to the food aisle and Kade frowned when he saw that the brand he had bought last time was sold out.
"This is unlucky" Ares said.
"No biggie, we'll just have to get a different brand" Kade said and as he backed away, a guy passing by was walking behind him and the two bumped into each other.
"Oh, I'm so sorry" Kade said as he helped the guy up and when the guy looked up his eyes widened when meeting Kade's.
"You're the guy from the other day..." he said and Kade frowned when hearing those words.
This seemed like it was about to get interesting.
"What? I'm sorry, but I don't think we've ever met" Kade said and the guy chuckled.
"Yeah, you tripped in front of me and turned as red as a tomato!" He said and like that, Kade's body had frozen up as a look of realization took over him.
"Oh, that's right...you probably don't recognize me without the wig and dress. I'm the "girl" you tried to hit on the other day" The guy said pointing to himself while giving a sweet smile to Kade who was still frozen.
Ares was too busy laughing his head off and Ceres was just watching with Bubble next to me, probably not understanding the situation.
"I-Is that so...? Well, I'm sorry for doing that it was very rude of me..." Kade said as he slowly backed away from the guy.
"Aw, you don't have to be sorry. I looked really good, didn't I?" The guy said with a wink and Kade's face seemed to lose it's color at the obviously joking gesture.
"Yeah, he said you were an angel!" Ares said and Kade's face went from no color to beet red at the spill of his lovesick ramble. He shot a murderous glare at Ares who was still finding all of this extremely hilarious.
"I don't understand..." Ceres said looking over to me and I sighed.
"I'll explain later" I said and she just nodded.
"A-An angel...? Really?! That's so sweet of you!" The guy said and Kade shook his head.
"I-..." Kade's mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water as he struggled to find an excuse to tell the guy.
So I decided to put him out of his misery.
"I'm sorry, but we really don't have time to stand around and conversate" I said and the guy looked to me.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to take up your time. Anyways, thank you for the compliments, you really made my day! Hopefully we'll see each other around" the guy said before giving us a wave and leaving the aisle.
Kade dropped to the ground with his hand on his heart and his face still beet red.
"Are you okay...?" Ceres asked as she stepped near Kade.
"That was way too funny, I cannot wait to tell Max" Ares said while wiping a tear from his eye.
"You think this is funny...?" Kade muttered and Ares nodded.
Kade stood up and grabbed a fistful of Ares shirt while sending a dangerous glare which even had me backing away from the two and I made sure to shield Ceres' eyes away from the blood shed that was about to happen.
"You say a word about this and..." The rest of Kade's words were inaudible to us as he seemed to whisper his threats. They seemed to be working as Ares' face paled.
"Jeez, man! I was just kidding..." Ares said as he let out a nervous chuckle after Kade let him go.
"Sure you were. Let's get this food and go" Kade grumbled and with that, we followed the upset Kade to the register and back to the car.
During the entire time in the car on the way to the vet, it was just straight silence aside from the occasional mewls from Bubble as she pawed at Ceres' hands in an attempt to get Ceres to pet her.
I smiled when seeing Ceres slowly and hesitantly placing a finger on Bubble's ear before rubbing it. A ghost of a smile graced her lips when seeing Bubble lean into her light touch. This was surely a sign that Ceres was slowly warming up to Bubble.
Well, she might take several steps back if Bubble really is pregnant. One cat she could handle, more than one? I don't know.
Once we were at the vet it didn't take long for Bubble to get seen.
"Everything checks out fine. Your cat here isn't pregnant at all, you said she was a stray?" The vet asked and we nodded.
"Well, she might just be ravenous. I'm sure after a couple of days she'll begin to fall into a more smaller diet" the vet said and I could hear Ceres let out a sigh of relief.
"Told you" I said to Ares and he just gave a shrug.
"Just wanted to be sure" he said.
We thanked the vet before heading back home and once we were there, Ceres didn't seem to let go of Bubble at the first chance she got like I thought she would.
"Oh, you guys went out?" Roman was just passing by when he saw us coming in.
"Yeah, Ares had the outrageous idea of her being pregnant so we went and got her checked out. She isn't, thankfully" Kade explained.
"It wasn't outrageous, it was completely logical" he said and Max who was sitting on the couch snorted.
"Logical isn't a word that should be coming out of your mouth" he said.
"Oh that's right! You guys will never believe what happ-" Ares was about to retell the incident from the mall until Kade shut him up with a sharp glare.
"We'll never believe what?" Max asked and Ares shook his head with a nervous laugh.
"Sorry man, I forgot, haha..." I just rolled my eyes at his lame excuse but Max seemed to buy it as he just shrugged his shoulders.
Shaking my head, I just decided to head up to my room.
~ Ceres P.O.V ~
Feeling my stomach growl, I decided that it was time for some well deserved bagel bites. After having to hold on to Bubble for far longer than I would have liked, my nerves were all over the place.
I could hold her but any sudden movements would generally make me a little uncomfortable. Though I had to admit her fur was really soft and I didn't mind petting her...
After preparing my afternoon snack, I sat and waited for the bagel bites to cool off and while waiting, I felt Bubble pawing at my leg. The next thing I knew, she had jumped on the seat and from there, on to the table.
I don't think Kade and Roman would like her on the table though...
I noticed that she was staring at my bagel bites and a thought occurred to me. Would she like them? I kind of wanted to offer one to her but remembering the last time I offered food to a cat, I refrained from doing so.
Bubble let out a mewl as she got closer to my plate and I just sighed before looking around and making sure Roman was out of sight. He would not be happy about me feeding Bubble food that wasn't cat food.
"You can have one but you have to eat it quickly..." I whispered as I took one off the plate and placed it in front of her.
Bubble seemed to like it as she ate it and I was just happy that I got to share the greatness of bagel bites with someone else, even if the someone else was a cat that I still wasn't sure on whether or not I liked it.
But maybe, just maybe, having Bubble around wasn't so bad...
~ Later that week ~
"She's so cute!!" Diana said as she tried to engulf Bubble in a hug but Bubble was faster than her as she darted underneath my bed.
"Yeah because trying to suffocate her is the best idea" Ross said as he watched in amusement as Diana tried to coax Bubble out from the underneath the bed.
"I wasn't going to suffocate her! I just wanted to hug her..." Diana said with a pout after giving up on trying to pet Bubble.
"How long have you guys had her now?" Hayden asked and I shrugged.
"A week and a half now I think" I said. I had invited them over so that they could see Bubble since I know Diana loves cats.
"So, what have you guys been doing?" Ross asked.
"My dad took me to this amusement park but I didn't really get to go on the rides I wanted to since he's afraid of heights and I didn't want to go by myself..." Diana said and I was hooked at the words 'amusement park'. They had always seemed fun when I saw them in shows and advertisements.
"Dang, that's sucky" Ross said.
"I mean, if you want, we could go to the amusement park" I said but if I was being honest, it was more for myself than Diana but I also wanted my friends to come along too.
"Oooh, really?! That would be so fun!" Diana cheered.
"Yeah, we can go on all the roller coasters!" Ross said.
"I've never been on one, but I'd like to try it out" I said as a feeling of excitement spreader within me at the idea of getting to go on all the fun rides.
"Roller coasters aren't really my thing..." Hayden said and Ross patted his shoulder.
"Don't worry, Hayden. You can get on the kiddy ones" he said and Hayden glared at him.
Diana suddenly gasped and we looked at her only to see Bubble rubbing her head on Diana's thigh.
"Oh my god, I'm gonna die from a cuteness overload..." Diana said as she tried to stifle her squeal.
"It seems Bubble only likes women" We all turned when hearing Roman's voice and he was standing at the door with some glasses of juice and a bowl of chips.
He placed the drinks and snacks down and we all thanked him.
"Hey, er-...Mr. Spencer...?" Ross seemed confused on what to call Roman and Roman just chuckled.
"It's okay to call me by my name, after all Mr. Spencer is our father" Roman said and Ross nodded.
"How do you feel about roller coasters?" Ross asked and I was wondering what exactly Ross was up to by asking these questions.
"I'm not opposed to being on them but I'm not really a thrill ride kind of guy" Roman said and Ross nodded.
"Well, we kind of want to go to an amusement park and we need a ride" Ross said while putting on a bright smile.
"Ah, I see. Sorry to let you down but I have work so I can't drive you guys. You might have better luck with either Kade or Lucas" He said and Ross pouted.
"It's okay, thank you" He said and Roman nodded before leaving us.
"I could have asked" I said.
"I know but you know how when your friends ask, you can get favorable answers? I thought that was the case here" Ross said.
"It's okay, I can ask the others later" I said.
"Alrighty then, we have our drinks and snacks. Now let's get back to our game!" Diana said as she began to shuffle the deck of cards.
Diana had brought over her games for us to play and that was how the rest of our day was spent.
