I'm actually not minding writing this season so far.

Question of the Chapter: If you could be one of the supernatural creatures from the McCall Pack, what would you pick?

——————————

Rushing into the locker room, I went towards the showers, having heard noise coming from there. When I got to them, I saw Stiles and Scott holding Liam beneath the shower as the boy tried to get past them. His eyes were glowing with the gold of a beta, teeth bared angrily.

"Okay, you calm yet?" My boyfriend asked the junior, none of them having noticed my presence yet.

When he roared angrily instead of replying, the boys pushed him back under the water until he finally caved, putting the fangs away. Scott turned off the shower as Liam slid down the wall, taking deep breaths.

"Did anyone see him wolf out?" I asked, gaining the attention of all three boys. I walked over and stood beside Stiles, who shook his head, telling me that he thinks they got him away in time.

Scott took a moment, before looking down at his beta, trying to decide how to approach the topic. "That car you smashed. I thought you said that was your teacher's."

"He was also my Coach," Liam explained, looking a bit sad. "He benched me for the entire season."

"What did you do?"

"I got a couple of red cards."

The way he avoided looking at Scott made me hesitate, watching him carefully. "How many is a couple?"

"Why are you even in here?" Liam mumbled.

I took a step towards him, "Because, just like these guys, I want to help you, okay? We've all done this before, so don't be so quick to push us away."

Liam's jaw clenched as he muttered an apology, sounding sincere. Taking this moment to get an answer out of him, Scott bent down so he was at eye level with the boy.
"You gotta be honest with us. What else happened?"

The beta finally looked up, water dripping from his hair. "Nothing," he answered firmly. When Scott didn't seem convinced, Liam sighed, "I got kicked out of school. They sent me to a psychologist for evaluation."

"What did they call it?"

"Intermittent Explosive Disorder."

"I.E.D?" Stiles said in disbelief. "You're literally an I.E.D?"

I grabbed his hand softly, pulling him back slightly. "Stiles, calm down."

"No, that's great," he chuckled humorlessly before smiling over at Scott, pointing to the boy. "You gave super powers to a walking time bomb."
He then proceeded to give the Alpha a thumbs up, before leaning back against the wall.

I cringed slightly at his lack of empathy at the moment. The kid was obviously going through a bit, and Stiles wasn't exactly inspiring confidence.

Scott bit his lip, turning back to Liam, "Did they give you anything for it?"

The boy shrugged, "Risperdal. It's an antipsychotic."

"Oh, this just gets better," Stiles said through a sarcastic grin.

"But I don't take it."

"Obviously," my boyfriend replied, throwing his hands up slightly.

"Alright, that's enough," I whispered.

Liam looked away from Stiles, "I can't play lacrosse on it. It makes me too tired."

"Okay," Scott said quietly, thinking. "I think you should bail out of the game. Tell Coach your leg is still hurting."

"No, no," the boy said quickly, climbing to his feet. "I can do this. Especially if you're there."

With a heavy sigh, Stiles dragged his hands down his face. I wasn't exactly thrilled about the idea of him playing the game either. It was giving me flashbacks to Scott trying to learn how to control his shift.

"But, Liam, it's not just about the game. We think whoever killed Demarco might be on our team," Scott explained.

"Who's Demarco?"

Stiles answered this time, thankfully without being sarcastic. "The one who brought the beer to the party. The guy who was beheaded. Remember?"

Scott nodded in confirmation for Liam. "We think the person who ordered the keg killed Demarco."

Liam didn't say anything, eyes flitting as he looked towards the ground. His expression had shifted also, something making him think.

"Do you know something?" I asked calmly.

"I don't know who ordered the keg," the boy said with a shake of his head. "But I know who paid for it. Garrett."

Stiles and I were in his room, listening to music quietly as we lay on his bed. After school we were supposed to meet with Scott, but Kira had called him, nervous about her first game tonight. So, instead, Stiles and I headed back to his home. Sheriff Stilinski was still at work, so we had the house to ourselves.

We had been talking for a while, but then just ended up falling into silence as we listened to the music playing softly out of the speakers.

The Deadpool had me on edge recently, thinking about how someone might try and kill me for a quick sixteen million dollars. Why would someone want to pay that much for me to be dead? I didn't think my ability was that spectacular. Maybe it was the fact that there didn't seem to be any other Sylphs out there. None that I knew of, at least.

"What're you thinking about?" Stiles asked softly, running his finger up and down my arm gently as I laid with my head on his chest.

"The Deadpool," I answered honestly. I noticed his heart rate spike for a moment, figuring it was just from him being stressed about us all being on the list.

"Speaking of that, I need to talk to you about something," he said slowly.

Figuring that it sounded important, I moved so that I was sitting up to look at him. "What's up?"

He stared at me quietly for almost ten seconds, seemingly contemplating something in his head. "It's about Peter."

"Okay?"

He stopped again, biting his lip. "I spoke to Scott, and we want to tell Malia about him tomorrow."

"Really?" I smiled, proud of them for finally wanting to do the right thing.

Stiles nodded, "Yeah, you were right. She needs to know."

I pushed forward on my knees to press a kiss to his lips. His hand rested against the side of my face, holding me there gently. I pulled back after a second, not wanting to go any further at that moment.
"I'm proud of you both."

He smiled weakly, nodding. A few moments passed, before he climbed up off of his bed and went to his drawers. "I'm going to get ready for the game. Did you want a ride?"

I took a quick look at my phone, before shaking my head. "I think I'm going to stop home and get changed first. I'll just meet you there. And remember, my dad and Josceline are coming."

"Great, more pressure," he groaned. "Can we postpone the whole dad and step-mum meet and greet until later? Or never?"

"They're going to love you," I grinned, before pecking him on the cheek and getting up to gather my things.

"I'll see you at the game."

Leaving his house, I felt the eyes on me again. This whole Benefactor thing had me really paranoid. I spun in a circle, looking to see if there was anyone watching me.

I couldn't see anyone, but it was dark out, so I wasn't completely certain. Rushing over to my car, I was quick to climb in and lock the door behind me. Sixteen million dollars, was on repeat in my head. Grabbing out my phone, I considered calling Stiles.
"You're just being paranoid," I told myself as I looked in my rear view mirror.

Starting my car I began to drive home, all the while keeping an eye out in all my mirrors. It had felt like someone had been watching me for almost a week now, but I hadn't actually seen any proof of the occurrence.

I think the Deadpool was just really getting to my head. No one had come for us yet. Maybe they were going after the people lower on the list; if that were the case, I still had some time.

Parking out the front of my house, I got out and went straight to the front door. Just as I was about to unlock it, I focused my hearing, to hear the sound of car brakes.

Turning around, I saw a woman getting out of a car across the road from my own. I wouldn't have thought much of it, if she didn't just lean against her car and stare at me.

Steeling my nerves, I shoved my keys in my pocket and began walking over to them. This is a really bad idea.

I was expecting them to maybe get in their car and leave when I began making my way over, but she didn't budge. As I got closer, I managed to make out more features. She was just a bit taller then me and maybe a couple years older, with ebony skin and dark curls that sat just above her shoulders.

Nothing about her seemed familiar. I stopped walking when I was less then a metre away from her, trying to gauge her reaction. She didn't seem worried about me approaching her.

"I know you've watching me over the past few days. Who are you, and why the fuck are you following me?" I asked firmly.

I decided it best to go straight for confrontation so that I could figure out whether or not I needed to use my abilities. There was always the chance this wasn't an assassin, and me using my abilities would completely expose me.

If she felt at all threatened by me, she didn't show it. She was just staring straight back at me. "I'm looking for Scott McCall."

"Do I look like Scott McCall?" I scoffed, taking a step back, but preparing my ability just in case.

"No," she said, her curls jumping as she shook her head. "But you are apart of his pack. You're the Sylph."

This caught me by surprise, mainly because she hadn't asked, just stated it. And then she had the upper hand. Before I knew it, I was being pushed up against the side of my car. What shocked me the most, though, was that she hadn't actually touched me.

"You're like me?" I whispered. I should have just used my ability.
"Who are you?"

"My name is Iris Quinn," she stated. "And, yes, I'm like you."

Iris Quinn. Her name was on the Deadpool, I'd seen it only yesterday.

I stumbled for words, not knowing what to say. "I thought I was the only one," I finally got out.

The woman, Iris, smiled. "I'm surprised you didn't sense it sooner. I figured it out as soon as I saw you."

So she was the one who had been following me. Sure, she seemed to have Sylph abilities, but following us around was suspicious.
"How am I supposed to trust anything you say?"

The woman sighed as she dropped her hold on me, "I don't expect you to trust me straight away, Riley. I know I'll need to earn that. I'm happy to tell you anything you want to know."

I walked over to her cautiously. "How did you find us?"

"This brought me here. I believe you call it a Deadpool?" She half-asked, holding up a folded sheet of paper. "It didn't take much to find Scott, a lot of supernatural people know about him now."

"How did you get a copy of the Deadpool?"

She shrugged, "I pulled a copy off of the body of someone who had tried to kill me. I might not be as strong as I used to be, but I can still put up a fight."

"How aren't you as strong, if we're the same?"

Iris looked surprised by my question, brows furrowing. "You really don't know much about what you are, do you?" She sounded like she pitied me; I didn't like it.
"Well, I lost my pack, and without a pack, Sylphs aren't as strong as they can be; as strong as you. Parents and DNA come into it as well."

"Okay. But that still doesn't answer why you're here."

She grabbed a folded piece of paper out of her pocket and held it up. "The assassin didn't have the full list, but I've got the page with your name and Scott's. I originally came here for him. Alan Deaton is a friend of mine, and he told me about the True Alpha, and I needed a new pack.

"When I found him, you were there and I immediately knew we were alike. I'd never met another Sylph before, so that was pretty shocking; but it explained why you were worth so much on that list.

"I was only following you to make sure you were all as honourable as the Doc had said. I didn't want to join a pack that didn't value innocent lives."

I breathed deeply as I tried to take in her story, nodding along slowly. "Okay. Maybe you should come inside. I think I should call Scott or something"
I was still weary of the woman, but she didn't seem to want to hurt me. Besides, Scott may not be good at making plans, but he would know what to do here. Hopefully.

When she nodded, we walked over to my house. After I unlocked the door, I lead her to the kitchen where I got us both a glass of water.

I then grabbed my phone out of my pocket, opening it and going into my contacts to find Scott's name.

Iris looked around the room curiously, taking in her surroundings. She opened her bag and pulled out a manilla folder and placed in on the counter as she took a seat.

"It's amazing how much has happened in this town," She stated. "After finding the list, I did a bit of my own research."

"I'm sure that was eye opening. This town has had enough supernatural occurrences to last a lifetime," I chuckled as I brought my phone to my ear.

Iris nodded, "I couldn't find a lot, just some articles with half-baked notions that they were animal attacks. I found a few about your family though. I was surprised at how many were alive and on the list, considering that the article I read gave the impression that most of them died in that house fire."

Lowering my phone, I looked at her, confused. "House fire? What are you talking about?"

Iris cocked her head to the side, "You are Riley Hale, aren't you?"

"Hey, dad, you're supposed to be here. Where the hell are you?" I asked as I dropped my lacrosse bag on the bench beside Kira.

"I'm leaving now, and this conversation isn't getting me there any quicker," he answered, before hanging up.

I scrolled through my contacts, returning to Riley's name and dialling. Again, she didn't answer so again, I left a message.
"Hey, I've called about three times now, and you haven't answered any time, and I'm honestly getting a bit worried. I'm gonna text you again, but I really need to know you're okay. Okay."

Pulling the phone away from my ear, I did as I said I would and typed out a text to her

To: Ri
Hey, call me as soon as you get this, please
Like, immediately after you get it
Please

My leg bobbed up and down as I chewed on my lip nervously. I knew she had driven home, but for all I knew, she never actually made it.

"She's still not answering?" Scott asked, just as worried as I was.

I shook my head, staring straight ahead in thought.
Kira shrugged, "Maybe she's on her way and her phone is on silent. Try not to worry until you know there's something to worry about."

I didn't answer, just kept staring out at the field. She had a point, but I couldn't help but worry. There were assassins after my girlfriend, to be fair.

When the game finally started Scott, Liam, Kira, Isaac and I were all starting on. Scott had tried to convince Coach not to let Liam play, but nothing was working.

My dad was yet to arrive, Malia and Lydia were god knows where and I still hadn't heard from Riley. I decided on my next substitution I'd text Charlotte.

The game seemed to start off well enough, but Devenford quickly took control. Liam was knocked down within the first couple of minutes, his old bully that Scott and I met in the courtyard running into him.

Liam stood up, angrily throwing his helmet and gloves down to the ground. He glared at the boy named Brett, before charging towards him.

He probably could've broken the Devenford student in half if Isaac and Scott hadn't restrained him.

Once Liam was calmed down, the ref blew his whistle to signal that the game was continuing. I only prayed the beta would be able to hold himself together for the rest of the game.

The play started and I managing to get a hold of the ball. I passed the ball onto Kira, who caught it with ease.

She turned around, running towards the goal, moving smoothly past each opponent. Coach was yelling for her to pass the ball, but she just kept going.

With one firm swing, the ball hit the back of the net. Every person supporting our school cheered in appreciation to Kira, who was almost jumping in excitement.

"Yukimura!" Coach yelled, pointing to the girl. "Get over here."

She ran towards Coach at the player's bench, removing her helmet.
"Take a seat. You're benched for the rest of the game," the man said disappointedly.

Kira's smiled melted into disappointment and shock as she stopped in front of Coach. "What? Why?"

"You didn't pass," the man told her.

"I had an open shot."

Coach shook his head, "The play was for you to pass. This is a scrimmage, it's about teamwork, Yukimura. So, you're benched."

The game started back up and Liam managed to scoop the ball up right after it was thrown in. As he was running, a collision occurred. Garrett was in there somewhere, and Brett had completely flipped Liam, causing the boy to land hard on the field.

The crowd gasped as we watched him hit the grass, all three boys down for the count. What surprised me most, however, was that Brett seemed to be the most injured even though he was the one who flipped Liam.

The newest addition to our pack was helped to his feet by Scott, Isaac and I. Scott began to ask him if he was okay, only to find my suspicions confirmed. Liam hadn't hit Brett; so why was the boy in so much pain?

Brett screamed as they dragged him off of the field, his feet failing him.

Thankfully, though, it looked like Garrett had missed Liam this time. A time out was called and all the boys retreated to the player's bench.

"You guys are playing well," Kira said, trying not to look too disappointed that she wasn't allowed back on the field.

Scott put an arm around her as I sighed and grabbed my phone out of my bag. "That won't matter if someone ends up dead."

Scrolling to Charlotte's contact, I sent her a text to ask whether or not she knew where Riley might be.

Liam was at the bench moments later, informing us that he had gotten Coach to bench him for the rest of the game. He had fallen pretty hard, so it would have been difficult for Coach to deny his request.

Kira turned to her Scott, concern clear on her face. "What are you gonna do?"

"I don't know," Scott admitted.

"Well, we need to do something soon," Isaac confirmed. "He's still on the field, which means he might try again. And I don't know about you, but I don't feel like being murdered."

"We're not going to be murdered," Scott scolded his beta. "Something's still not right, though. We're missing something."

I frowned as I received a text. It wasn't from Charlotte, but it was still important.
"Lydia just broke another third of the list."

"Am I on it?" Liam asked worriedly.

"No. But someone else is."
