Lunar and Klaus have finished the truth ritual, and are making their way back through the Bayou.
"Do you have any idea what Finn has done with Marcel and his vampires?" Lunar wants to know.
Klaus shrugs. "He's inches away from finding out the truth." He admits to her. "My best guess is he's torturing it out of them."
"But they don't know." Lunar holds on to the hope that Marcel had his memories compelled away, just like Hayley.
Klaus nods. "Yes, but Marcel is smart. If Finn gets even an inkling to what our secret is and plants the seeds, Marcel might just put two and two together."
Lunar frowns, growing concerned now. "What exactly are we supposed to do?" She asks, drawing a blank.
He looks at her. "I think we need to see what your merry band of wolves knows."
"Our." Lunar corrects him. "Our merry band of wolves."
Klaus shrugs and chuckles. "You're their Queen." He tells her, a little mockingly.
"Nik, you're gonna have to start trusting them." Lunar tells him with a small smile. "Or at least trusting me."
They stop walking for a moment. Klaus stares into her eyes for a while, his brow furrowed. "I do trust you, more than you know." He tells her, a little hurt she would think he didn't.
Lunar smiles, glancing through the trees. "We're back." She stands on her tip-toes and plants a quick kiss on Klaus' lips. "You ready for some interrogation with a pinch of torture?"
A devilish grin spreads across his face. "Always." Klaus tells her, taking her hand in his own. The pair make their way through the trees towards the werewolf encampments.
Everyone is busy, doing something or another. Some of the wolves are sat around a bonfire, whilst others are sparring. Lunar smiles, it reminds her of her childhood.
Hayley is sat on a rocking chair in the porch of Lunar's old home, coffee cup in hand, whilst she speaks to Grandma June. The pair are laughing and look happy, which makes Lunar happy.
Lifting two fingers to her mouth, Lunar whistles to draw the pack's attention. "You'll all be pleased to know the rituals went to plan, the wedding is still on."
Some of the wolves smile, but most still look incredibly unsure about the hybrid union. Lunar ignores their unease and scans the crowd of faces, trying to find Aiden.
She frowns. "Where the hell is Aiden?" She snaps, realising he's not there.
A few of the wolves shift uncomfortably, but no one answers, until Jackson steps forwards. "He went to find Josh." He tells her.
Lunar narrows her eyes. "And you didn't think to tell me?" She feels Klaus place a hand against the small of her back, and her rage instantly decreases.
"You're his alpha, not his keeper." Jackson retorts. Klaus looks at him, fighting the monumental urge to rip out the werewolf's throat. He seems increasingly annoying, especially now he knows Jack's grandfather was to blame for Lunar killing her parents.
To some, the fiery hybrid might've appeared cold and heartless, but Klaus knew how she blamed herself. How she thought herself less worthy of being alpha for that very sin. A sin which wasn't even her's to carry.
"I'm half vampire, Jack!" Lunar snaps, bringing Klaus from his thoughts. "If Aiden has gone to find Marcel and the vampires, that concerns me!"
"Shut up Lunar, it's none of your business." Jackson shoots back, instantly regretting his tone of voice.
"None of my business?" She scowls, before speeding her way over to Jackson. "None of my business?" She repeats, shouting this time.
Klaus watches on, knowing instantly that if someone doesn't stop her, she's going to kill him.
"Lunar." He tries to step forwards, but she lifts a hand and stops him.
"No, Klaus. You reminded me of some important facts, and I think it's time everyone knew." Lunar's eyes don't waver from Jackson's.
He stares at her, trying to decipher what she's about to do. "What are you doing?" Jackson asks, helpless.
Luna takes a step backwards. "Don't tell me you've forgotten?" She mocks, laughing. She spreads her arms out wide and studies the wolves surrounding her. "Come on, Jack, tell them."
He remains silent, starring at her. "Lunar, you need to calm down." He takes a step forwards slowly. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Tell them!" She yells, her voice reverberates off the trees and echoes back. The wolves fall silent, dazed at their alpha's outburst.
"You are utterly insane." Jackson looks at her with wide-eyes. "How the hell can we expect you to lead us? With him!" He points at Klaus now. "He doesn't even know a damn thing about being a wolf!"
"No. I don't." Klaus agrees, moving towards them now. "I never had the luxury to live among my kind nor the chance to truly know my father.." He quickly grabs Jack into a chokehold. "But you knew him. Perhaps he saw in you the son he always wanted."
Nik lets him go, and Jack falls to the ground, gasping for breath. "I'm glad I was spared such a sorry state." Klaus remarks, looking down on him. "Your cowardice is really quite remarkable." He kneels to look Jackson in the face.
"You think you can lead this pack better than Lunar? The very fact she has lived with what you have chosen to forget, a deed she embarked upon purely to save your tedious little life, is evidence enough that you are nowhere near as capable." Klaus speaks the words in a low, harsh, whisper. An almost growl rises in his throat when he thinks about teenage Lunar killing her parents for him.
Containing himself, he resists the urge to rip out Jackson's heart and rises to his feet. Lunar heard every word of what he said, and she's starring at him with such admiration Klaus has to advert his eyes from her intense gaze.
Lifting a hand and squeezing his arm, she smiles at him. A silent thank you.
"What is going on?" Grandma June has climbed down off the porch of Lunar's old family home, and is stood a few feet away. Hayley is with her, watching on in horror.
"Jackson was just taking a trip down memory lane." Klaus answers, receiving a look that, quite frankly, could kill. "He seems to have forgotten that Lunar didn't kill her parents out of a coldhearted desire to runaway from the pack, she killed her parents because Richard Dumas held a gun to his head and threatened him." He points angrily at Jackson. "She killed her parents to save him." He shrugs, looking at Lunar. "I have no idea why, but she did."
"You did.. what?" June is overwhelmed at this news, and Hayley looks like her brain is going to explode.
"It's true." Lunar shrugs. "The truth herbs? Well, they work."
"You're a liar!" Jackson is stood up too, and shouting at Lunar. He points accusingly at her face, fury evident. "I would remember that!"
Klaus watches as Lunar's eyes fill with tears. "I've had enough of you!" He vamp-speeds over to Jackson and plunges his hand into his chest, grabbing his heart in his fist. "That woman you keep talking down to? She's your alpha. She's going to be my wife. And, god knows why she ruined her entire life to save you. So show her some respect!" Klaus removes his hand, without Jackson's heart.
Jack coughs, grasping at his chest. His eyes are filled with fear as he desperately tries to process what has just happened. "Why don't I remember?" He finally asks.
"I think if Esther's torture has taught us anything, is that the brain is a very clever thing. You probably stored it somewhere in your subconscious because it was too traumatic to process." Lunar shrugs, trying to keep the bitterness out of her voice.
"Or you went mad looking for Lunar and someone compelled your memories away." Klaus jokes, but Lunar stares at him wide eyed.
Suddenly, she feels someone's arms around her waist. Grandma June pulls her into a tearful hug. "Oh, Lune, you could've just told us. We would've stopped Richard."
Lunar shakes her head. "He had a gun. There was no time. If I hadn't of gone through with it, he would've shot Jack, or me." She stares past her Grandma at Hayley.
"And me. I would've died." Suddenly it dawns on Hayley that her mother was far more selfless than she at first appeared.
Lunar nods. "I didn't know I was pregnant, of course." She admits. "But, it made sense. In my unstable mind, it made sense. I wanted an escape route, and it was like I was being pushed over the edge, taking a leap I knew I would never take on my own."
Grandma June brushes Lunar's dark hair away from her eyes. "You are so strong. Like your mother." She whispers.
"No." Lunar jerks away from her grandmother's touch. "This changes nothing. I am still a murderer." She marches off, leaving them.
Klaus gives June a sympathetic look, before speeding after Lunar.
- Lenore's Shop -
Marcel awakes, groggy and weak, in Lenore's shop. His wrists and ankles have been bound to the chair in which he's sat with vervain ropes. He struggles against them, trying to break free.
"You can't free yourself. Those ropes have been soaked in vervain." Finn tells him, plucking a fresh vervain flower off a nearby table and sniffing it. "But I did lessen the spell that made you hungry.." he tosses the vervain flower onto the table. "Affording us an opportunity for some civilised discourse."
Marcel groans, continuing to struggle against the restraints to no avail whilst Finn grabs a chair setting it down in front of him. He sits down, before continuing talking.
"Let's start with our mutual friend Camille. The topic that consumed the majority of our time together was her troubled relationship with Niklaus. He confided in her, but she knew nothing that I could use against him, and yet recently, I had occasion to speak with my brother, and I realised that he has a secret, one that he is desperate to protect, and I think that that secret is a weakness. So tell me, Marcel, what is it?" Finn questions.
"You really think that he trusts me with anything that could be used against him?" Marcel replies, incredulous.
"You're Klaus' ally, and I think you know something." Finn argues.
"You can think whatever you want as long as you don't mind knowing that you are a chump." Marcel shoots back.
Finn, annoyed, blows on two of his fingers and rubs them together. Marcel shouts in pain, as the spell causes his muscles to seize up. After a moment, Finn stops the spell and Marcel sighs in relief.
"Tell me what you know." Finn tries again.
Marcel gasps for breath. "I'll tell you what I remember." Finn leans forwards now, clearly intrigued. "Two centuries ago, I was just a kid looking through the compound. I found a coffin." Finn frowns. "Klaus catches me, and says, that's my brother Finn. We keep him like that because he is such a bore."
Marcel laughs weakly, and Finn, offended, casts another pain infliction spell. Marcel once again shouts in pain, whilst Finn stands and walks away.
- Folean Mansion -
Rebekah is asleep in her bedroom, whilst Freya stands in her doorway watching her. After a moment, the blonde witch calls out to her.
"Rebekah?" She whispers.
Rebekah sits up quickly, gasping. "Are you trying to give me a bloody heart attack?" She snaps, startled. She examines her now bandaged wrist, whilst Freya moves to the window.
"Is it still beautiful?" Freya asks. Rebekah just looks at her confused. "New Orleans? I loved it so much the last time I saw it." Her voice takes on an almost dreamy tone.
"New Orleans will remain a beauty long after you and I are bones beneath it's clay." Rebekah tells her. "For now, you have to go back to your room. I have things to do."
"Why are you here in this place?" Freya questions.
Rebekah sighs. "I was trying to help my brothers. My con artist of a blood relation Kol betrayed me, got me stuck in here." She shakes her head angrily. "Oh, when I get hold of him.."
"Why do you fight with your own family? You should stand beside them." Freya replies, confused.
Rebekah chuckles awkwardly. "It's..complicated, a thousand years complicated." She stands up now, getting ready to leave. "Listen. I think I found a way out of this hell hole. If you want to come with me, meet me at the front door in 20 minutes. Either way, wish me luck." Rebekah leaves, and Freya watches her go, a smirk appearing on her face, clearly impressed.
