She was a bit cranky in the morning.
Beyoncé had woken up later in the morning. While the people of the region had been up since 9AM, she had chosen to sleep in. It was 11AM, when a sudden movement of awakening came to her. So, she hopped out of bed.
Her hair was mangled and a bit flattened. The woman woke up with a frown on her face. Waking up, was the hardest part of her day. As she walked to her bathroom to begin her day with a good freshening up, she was suddenly stopped and pushed against a wall.
"Wha-" she started shocked. Yet, she never finished her thought because a soft pair of lips began to move against her own.
Onika!
Her mind screamed, suddenly awoke and aware. Though she hated to admit it, Beyoncé had grown quite fond of Onika. She was even giving in to her goodmorning kiss...
However, Onika would never know that.
Pushing her away, Beyoncé wiped her mouth roughly.
"What have I told you about using your pendant to sneak in to my home?! And stop kissing me!" Beyoncé asked, gripping the waist of Onika only to push her further away so she could begin to move to the bathroom once again.
Onika pouted, sticking her bottom lip out.
"I'm sorry...!" She dragged out, following Beyoncé to the bathroom.
"I only wanted to see you again. I missed you." Onika said in a whiny voice, still pouting.
Beyoncé rolled her eyes at her through the mirror of the bathroom, and began taking out her toothbrush.
"That doesn't give you the right to sneak in to my home-"
"I didn't sneak in! I used my-" Onika exclaimed while being suddenly cut off by Beyoncé.
"Your pendant is only to be used for actual emergencies. Therefore, you snuck in." Beyoncé said matter-of-factly. She then began to brush her teeth.
Onika pouted again, walking out of the bathroom about to go home, to her region.
She didn't understand why Beyoncé was so mean to her sometimes. She remembered when they first met, in training school; Beyoncé was not like this. She was fun, charming, and a calming presence. They were together all the time, almost inseparable.
Over the years, responsibilities came into play and they saw each other less and less. Suddenly, they stopped seeing each other at all. They drifted apart. Once they were duly appointed as Guardians of their Regions and found by the enchantress, they met again.
Onika thought this was going to be where they pressed the restart button and started over with their friendship, but sadly, it was not. Beyoncé had grown cold and mysterious. She wasn't friendly like she used to be but still, Onika longed for her. No matter how badly she treated her.
In the bathroom, Beyoncé had quickly finished brushing her teeth. She felt bad about the way she treated Onika; after all, "she was only trying to declare her love for you through that kiss."The voice in her head said. She waved it off and quickly put her things away, rushing to get to Onika before she left.
As she walked into her living room, she saw Onika was at the door, get ready to leave. Beyoncé gulped hard, walking up to her. She hugged her from behind, slowly and carefully. She wasn't even sure of her own hands, as they had a mind of their own and gently slid around her waist.
You could tell Onika was surprised, as she turned around and also engulfed her with a hug.
"I must apologize. I know you didn't mean any harm. It's just...unusual." Beyoncé spoke to her.
Onika's face scrunched up; she removed herself from Beyoncés embrace.
"Unusual? But we always hung out and kissed in training sch-" she started.
"That was a different time Onika. Don't get me wrong, I like having you around but...I will need some time. Lots, of time."
Onika pouted again. She looked up into the hazel eyes of her crush. They were not the same hazel eyes she remembered from long ago.
"Okay." She simply said, looking away.
It was now Beyoncé's turn to pout slightly.
"Are you leaving?" Beyoncé murmured.
"Isn't that what you want me to do?" Onika asked gloomily. She made her way back to the door and opened it. Before walking out of the door, she looked back at Beyoncé.
"The Region of Love needs their guardian."
And with that, she was off.
