hyunsoo was spending the night at jian's house, for the second time. this was still new to hyunsoo, as the boy still had his fear of sleeping over at other people's houses. the first time sleeping at jian's house went well, but this time, wasn't.
hyunsoo woke up in cold sweat, tears in his eyes from the nightmare he had. the boy looked over, seeing jian asleep. hyunsoo felt bad about wanting to wake up jian, but he really didn't want to be awake alone.
"ji.." hyunsoo softly called out to the elder, shaking him awake, "wake up, please."
the elder boy silently groaned out, slowly opening his eyes as he let out a yawn. hyunsoo looked at jian with tears in his eyes, as he waited for the elder to fully wake up. jian reached a hand out, holding onto hyunsoo's hand.
"bubba, why are you shaking?" jian questioned, using his other hand to reach over and turn on his lamp light. jian turned back to hyunsoo, seeing the tears in his eyes, which made him quickly sit up as he pulled hyunsoo into his arms, "what's wrong, bub?"
"i'm scared." hyunsoo responded into jian's neck, "i feel very overwhelmed."
"why, hyunnie?" the elder boy asked, looking at the younger with concerned eyes.
"i had a bad dream." he pouted, pulling away from jian, "now i'm scared of falling asleep."
jian held both of hyunsoo's hands, "i'll stay up with you, hyunnie." the elder said, "i'll wait until you fall asleep, and make sure you feel protected."
"a-are you sure?" hyunsoo softly questioned, "you need your rest, too."
jian nodded his head, "i already got my rest, hyunnie. besides, making sure you're asleep and okay is more important to me."
"okay, ji." the younger tried his best to smile, "thank you."
"you're welcome, bubba." jian smiled, "do you want one of my hoodies so you're safer and warmer?"
"pretty please?" hyunsoo gave jian puppy dog eyes, even though the elder was the one who suggested and obviously wasn't gonna say no.
the elder boy laughed at the younger, as he moved him off of him so he could get up. the younger boy watched the elder boy look through his closet and grab a hoodie. jian walked back to hyunsoo, telling the boy to raise his arms. the elder boy then helped hyunsoo put on his hoodie, slipping it over his torso and taking the hood off the boy's head.
"do you want to talk about your dream, hyunnie?" jian questioned the boy, running his hands through his hair while remaining in front of him.
"you're gonna make fun of me." hyunsoo whined, "it's dumb."
"i'm not gonna make fun of you." jian shook his head, "you know i'm not mean."
the younger sighed out, patting on the bed for jian to sit. the boy sat down next to hyunsoo, laying against his pillows, "so what's up, hyunnie?"
"it's dumb." he pouted, "but, basically, i had a dream about jax and phan. you were in it too." he started to explain, "and, we were good. you liked me, i liked you, just like how it is now."
jian nodded his head, listening to the younger as he continued on with his story.
"anyways, jax and phan started bullying us again." he said as tears formed in his eyes once again, "a-and, as they continued to bully us, you realized you weren't into boys and you never liked me to begin with." the boy paused, "s-so, you started bullying me too, a-and just basically cut off all ties with me."
jian quickly sat up, wrapping his arms around hyunsoo as he pushed the boy back, "never." he told the boy, "that's never going to happen, bubba."
"but we're so young, ji." hyunsoo cried out, "what if one day you wake up and realize you don't like boys, especially me?"
"i've always thought i liked boys, hyunsoo. you being in my life confirmed my thoughts." jian confessed, "i'm really gay, especially for you."
hyunsoo laughed through his tears, "you sound like my cousins boyfriend."
"is that a compliment or an insult?" the elder questioned, looking at hyunsoo.
the boy hummed out, thinking about the way minho acts, "it's both."
"how's it both?" jian furrowed his eyebrows.
"he's really nice but sometimes says nasty stuff." hyunsoo explained, "i'm still traumatized from seeing their messages."
jian started laughing at hyunsoo, shaking his head. "you're so cute, hyunnie." the boy smiled, "the cutest boy ever."
"no i'm not." the younger puffed out his lower lip, "my name isn't jian."
jian's smile turned brighter, as he leaned down and kissed hyunsoo's forehead, "you're so sweet." he said as he pulled away, "i got really lucky with who my crush is."
"nuh uh," hyunsoo disagreed, "i'm whiny and extremely sensitive."
"and i love those things about you." jian responded, getting off of his bed, "get off for a minute, bubba."
hyunsoo got off of jian's bed, watching the elder pull back his sheets, "get in." jian told the younger who did so. jian then got in next to hyunsoo, pulling the sheets over them both, along with the blanket. once the two were covered, hyunsoo turned to jian and cuddled against him, as he rested his head on the boy's shoulder. jian wrapped an arm around hyunsoo while he reached back and used his free arm to turn his light to a lower setting, so it wasn't as bright. the boy then wrapped his same arm around hyunsoo, resting his head against hyunsoo's.
"ji," hyunsoo yawned out, "thank you for making me happy."
"you make me happier, hyunnie." the elder responded, "do you feel okay now?"
"i feel tired." hyunsoo confessed, "but i'm still kind of scared."
"what's making you scared?" jian questioned, "what are you afraid of?"
"well, i'm scared that one day you'll find someone who's not as whiny and sensitive and doesn't act like a baby, and that you'll like them more than you like me." the younger pouted, "it scares me a lot."
"but i want someone who's whiny, sensitive, and acts like a baby." jian said, taking his head off of hyunsoo's so he could look at him, "don't be acting like how your cousin did."
"what do you mean?" hyunsoo asked.
"don't be letting your insecurities get in the way, or the thoughts of possibly being too young." the elder explained, "because even though he got back with his boyfriend, it was pointless to break up in the first place."
"you think we're gonna last, ji?" hyunsoo's eyes turned hopeful as he looked at jian, "really?"
"i want it, you want it, and if we try hard enough, we'll get it." jian said, a soft smile plastered on his face.
"how are you an expert at relationships when you're ten?" hyunsoo questioned, letting out a silent giggle.
"having a lot of older siblings teaches you a lot about relationships." jian explained, "that's how i'm so good at pickup lines."
hyunsoo laughed at jian, "maybe your siblings are just players." he teased.
"my eldest brother is." jian laughed with hyunsoo, "he gets too many boys and girls."
"he gets both?" hyunsoo gasped, "dang, a major player."
jian continued to laugh, nodding his head. once the boy stopped laughing, he looked at hyunsoo and hummed out quietly, "you're so cute, hyunnie."
hyunsoo softly smiled at jian, "you're cuter, ji."
"but, really, you're so adorable." jian spoke up, "like i really do adore how you're so sensitive, innocent, shy-" the boy paused, "honestly, i just adore you in general."
"you're gonna make me turn red." hyunsoo whined, "stop it."
"turn red." the elder responded, almost as if he was daring hyunsoo to become red.
"no." the younger refused, turning around in jian's arms, "i'm going to bed instead."
jian giggled at the boy, as he kissed the back of his head. "goodnight, hyunnie."
"goodnight, meanie." he responded, closing his eyes.
jian waited until an hour after he heard hyunsoo's soft snores to fall asleep, as he wanted to make sure the boy really was okay while he slept. sure, jian was really tired from staying up, but to him, keeping an eye on hyunsoo and making sure he was okay was more important.
jian rested his head on top of hyunsoo's, softly whispering, "sleep well, my prince." before joining him in slumber.

we go to different schools now and this dream got me out here missing a boy i've never talked to but always wanted to >:(((((
i sometimes hate dreams, smh
at least they remind me i'm not heartless and that i do have feelings😔🤙
