7:15 pm
while chan was waiting for seven-thirty to hit, the boy set up the picnic basket while staying in the parking lot of the market. putting the food, drinks, blanket, plates, napkins, utensils, and unlit candle in there. the boy popped his trunk, placing the basket in there before closing it.
chan got back into his car, starting up the ignition as he turned on his car. the boy buckled his seat belt as he kept his foot on the break.
"fuck." he cursed, "it's gonna be fine, chan. you got this." he told himself as a pep-talk, even though he still felt insanely nervous.
the boy distracted his thoughts by focusing on how he had to get to woojin by seven-thirty. taking his foot off the break and switching to the pedal, as he started to drive.
thankfully woojin's house was in a convenient location, as it wasn't too far from the market, or the river. due to this, chan was able to arrive at woojin's house at exactly seven-thirty, seeing the boy already standing outside and glancing at his phone. the boy parked his car on the street, grabbing the flowers out of the passengers seat and walking up to the elder. chan greeted the boy who was wearing a white shirt with a dark jean jacket over, matched with black jeans and black vans.
"hey," chan smiled out, handing woojin the flowers he bought him as he then placed his hands in his back pockets as he nervously switched balance from the ball of his feet to his toes, "i-i wasn't sure what flowers were your specific favorite, so i just bought you roses."
woojin softly laughed at chan's suddenly shy self. the boy pulled the flowers closer to him, as he leaned into chan and kissed his cheek, "they're beautiful, thank you."
chan nodded his head, "we should get going, yeah?" he questioned, feeling more nervous by the second.
woojin hummed a response, walking to chan's car, only to be stopped by the young boy as he jogged to his car and opened the passenger door for woojin. the elder boy smiled, walking to where chan was and getting in the car. the boy proceeded to buckle his seat, and turn on the car. he then drove a few miles to the river, parking alongside the street. the two boys got out of the car, as woojin stood by the car while chan got the picnic basket out of the trunk. once chan had the picnic basket, he closed the trunk and locked the car door. woojin walked over to where chan was, holding his free hand which sent instant butterflies all throughout chan. the boys then walked to a place that seemed perfect for them, right under a tree and near the river. chan placed down the picnic basket, letting go of woojin's hand to open it and take out the blanket. woojin helped chan place down the blanket, sitting on top of it while chan squatted down and continued to take out the items he bought.
"you bought a fake candle?" woojin laughed, picking it up.
"yeah, soojin told me to get it." chan explained, "she said to get it so i don't cause any fires, like jisung."
woojin continued laughing, turning it on and setting it down in the middle of the blanket, "cute, and good idea."
once chan got everything out of the basket, he sat on the empty side of the blanket and opened the plates, handing woojin one, "so what do you want first?"
"the chicken." woojin smiled, pointing at it.
chan opened the chicken, handing a piece over to woojin who looked excited to eat it. while woojin was eating, chan glanced around at the food, feeling too nervous to eat anything.
"why aren't you eating?" woojin questioned the boy, wiping his fingers off with a napkin.
"i'm too nervous to eat." chan confessed, looking down at his hands.
woojin smiled at the shy boy, reaching over and opening the ramen. the boy then grabbed some noodles with the chopsticks, picking up the bowl as he held the chopsticks above and near chan, "open."
chan looked up, seeing the food right in front of his face. chan smiled softly, opening his mouth and chewing on the noodle woojin just fed him. woojin set down the ramen, placing the chopsticks on top of the bowl as he leaned back, putting his hands behind him, "i'm not eating until you start eating."
"that's not fair." chan whined as he finished chewing, "don't let my nervousness stop you."
"don't let it stop you either." woojin shot back, "you have nothing to be nervous about, you're just overwhelming yourself when i can promise you that i'm happy to be here with you."
chan gave woojin a sass look, as he picked up the chopsticks again and ate more ramen, practically mimicking woojin the entire time. woojin laughed at the boy, which made him laugh too. the elder boy grabbed the bag of grapes, eating a few as he glanced at chan, "it's not so hard now, is it?"
chan shook his head, softly smiling as he continued to eat. as the two boys started eating together, chan felt his nervousness die down. the two boys even started to have long conversations, laughing and smiling at each other. it made both chan and woojin feel happy, and made chan feel relaxed and good that he was able to feel this way.
it was now nine, and the only thing left was the red velvet cupcake. woojin grabbed the cupcake, opening the lid and dragging his finger against the frosting. the boy then leaned to chan, pressing his finger on top of his nose, getting frosting on it.
"woojin!" chan whined out, "that's so mean."
woojin giggled at the younger, licking the left over frosting off his finger, "it tastes good at least."
chan rolled his eyes, crossing his arms and pouting at the boy, "now there's frosting on my nose."
"chan the white nosed reindeer." woojin sang out, making the two of them laugh.
woojin grabbed a napkin, wiping the frosting off the younger's nose, "all gone, you baby."
chan picked up the cupcake, doing the same thing as woojin, as he dragged his finger across the frosting and pressed it against woojin's nose. the boy licked the remaining of the frosting off his finger, "it does taste good."
woojin rolled his eyes at the younger, wiping his nose with the napkin, "you're a pain for that."
"i'm not the one who started it." chan responded, setting down the cupcake, "you are."
woojin looked at the cupcake, "i'm surprised soojin's cliché ass didn't tell you to buy a number one candle to celebrate our first date."
chan took woojin's idea into consideration, as he picked up the fake candle and put his finger next to the switch where he'd turn it off, "blow out the candle, baby."
woojin shook his head at chan, trying his best to refrain a smile. the elder then leaned in, "blowing" out the candle as chan switched the candle off, setting it down and clapping his hands. woojin laughed at the younger, "happy first date, chan."
chan smiled at the boy, leaning over and kissing woojin's cheek, "happy first date, woojin."
