Arthur Morgan & Little Sister Reader
Archie Downes X Female Reader

Summary: You are Arthur's little sister and recently you have been more happy than usual around camp. Of course, Sean asks you about it and asks you who is the boy that is making you so happy. And, of course, Arthur overhears your conversation.

Word Count: 2800

You hummed to yourself as you folded another freshly cleaned shirt, lost in your own little world as you work. You jumped a little when somebody threw their arm around your shoulder, you knew that it was Sean because it was something that he usually did to annoy you.

"Alright, darlin', who is the boy who is making you so happy?" Sean asked with a huge smile on his face, obviously trying to tease you.

"Boy? There's no boy" you gave him a confused look before shaking your head and pushing his arm off of your shoulders.

"Sure there isn't...what's his name?" he pushed, knowing that you were lying to him.

"Why does it have to be a boy that makes me happy?" you asked as you placed the folded shirt down and turned to him, raising an eyebrow. Couldn't you just be happy about something else?

"There is only one thing that can put a smile like that on your face and that's a boy. You're damn right giddy" Sean pointed out, his knowing smile still on his face.

"Whatever" you muttered, returning your attention back to your work.

"So...there is a boy?" Sean asked as he moved to stand right beside you, nudging your shoulder with his own.

"Yes, okay? Yes, there is a boy" you sighed, throwing the new shirt down on the table and turning to the Irishman. You figured that it would be easier to just tell him, he might actually lave you alone then.

"What's his name?" he asked, you knew that he was about to interrogate you about this now.

"None of your business" you rolled your eyes, crossing your arms over your chest.

"He ain't one of us, is he?" Sean asked, his eyes suddenly going wide as he looked around the camp, trying to figure out which one you were dating.

"No! He's not a member of the gang" you laughed as you grabbed Sean's arm, making him return his attention to you.

"But he is good to you, right?" he looked down at you expectantly and you smiled, it was nice to know that Sean and the rest of the gang cared about you so much.

"Very" you nodded with a smile, he was more than good to you.

"Good, that's what matters. Don't tell your brother, he's real protective of you" Sean warned you, making you laugh.

"Ah, Arthur wouldn't hurt Archie, he's a good and honest man" you assured him. You knew that your brother could be protective but you also knew that he respected your decisions and that he would see that Archie meant no harm to you.

"Archie?" Sean asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Crap..." you cursed when you realised that you had accidentally given up his name.

"So...this 'Archie'...you say he is honest?" he asked, wanting to know more about the man you were seeing.

"Yeah, he is a farmhand. He works on his father's farm, they are good people" you told him, deciding there was no harm in it since you had already told him Archie's name.

"You've met the family?" Sean asked yet another question, he was lucky that you liked him because he could sometimes drive you insane.

"Will you be quiet" you shushed him when you noticed his voice getting louder, it was kinda cute that he was getting a little excited about this. "And yes, I have, only once" you nodded. It was still relatively early stages in your relationship but you had met his parents once, they seemed like good people.

"Are you going to introduce him to your family?" Sean asked, completely understanding why you wouldn't want Archie to know about this part of your like but also knowing that you would have to tell him eventually.

"You mean the gang? No, I don't think so...maybe one day" you shrugged with a small sigh, you knew that it wouldn't be easy.

"So, it's pretty serious" Sean hummed and you just nodded in response. "Does he know who you are?" he asked, his tone more serious now instead of teasing.

"An outlaw, living outside of society? Yeah he knows" you nodded with a small smile. You had been honest with Archie, knowing that it was an important thing to disclose in a relationship. Archie was a good man but never judged you for being an outlaw, he only judged you on who you were and no who you ran with. "Can I get back to work now?" you asked, making Sean laugh before he just nodded and walked away. You chuckled, shaking your head to yourself.

After you finished folding the clothes, Arthur walked over to you with an unreadable expression on his face. You smiled at your brother as you pushed the basket of clean clothes away and met him half way. "I heard you talking to Sean" Arthur stated, deciding to just skip over any form of real greeting.

"Oh, uh...okay?" you nodded, the words coming out more as a question than a statement. You wondered what he had heard and why he felt the need to talk about it to you, you had a very strong feeling it was about the man you were seeing.

"I heard you talking about...Archie? Was it?" your brother asked, acting as if he couldn't quite recall the name. You were fairly confident that he had been listening intently to your whole conversation with Sean.

"Yeah, his name is Archie. Can you please not kill him or beat him up?" you asked with a small sigh, the last thing you needed was Arthur going into protective big brother mode.

"I'm not going to do that. You said he was a good man, I would like to be the judge of that but I will take your word for it. A farmhand, huh? You spend your life with outlaws and you fall for a farmhand?" he asked, a little amused that you had been interested in a man with such a simple life compared to your own.

"Maybe I wanted a taste of normalcy" you teased with a small smile, now relaxed that Arthur was okay with your relationship.

"You ain't gonna leave us for him though, right?" Arthur asked, seriousness filling his voice again. That was something he was afraid of, that one day you would leave the gang to start a life elsewhere. Of course he wanted what was best for you but he also loved you and would miss you deeply.

"Of course not, I'm not going anywhere" you assured him.

"How did you meet him anyway?" Arthur asked, wondering how you even had the time to meet a farmhand.

"I met him in town...I was getting some supplies for camp and he was in town to get some supplies for his family's farm. He was really nice and we got talking" you told him with a small shrug, and Arthur just nodded.

"I won't bother you about this, I trust you to make your own decisions but be careful...and I will hurt him if he hurts you" your brother threatened, reminding you that he would kill this man in a heartbeat if he hurts you.

"I know you will...thank you" you smiled, knowing that Arthur meant well, as you wrapped your arms around his waist.

"Anytime" Arthur reminded you as he returned your hug. "So, how serious is it?" he asked as you both pulled away from each other. He needed to know whether you had strong feelings for this man or not, he didn't even know how long you had been together.

"I don't know. We haven't been together for very long but I do think it is serious" you told him honestly, a small smile on your lips.

"I hope you have better luck in this area than I have had" Arthur joked, very aware that his own love life was one train wreck after another.

"I'm certain that I will" you teased, making Arthur roll his eyes before you both just laughed together.

-----

You walked along the dirt road, your hand fitting perfectly in Archie's, as you walked towards his family's farm. "Sean sounds like an interesting man" Archie chuckled to himself after you had told him about the conversation you had with the Irishman.

"Yeah, he's great as long as you don't get embarrassed easily and can put up with endless chatter" you laughed along, smiling happily as Archie pulled you closer to his side.

You were both perfectly relaxed and content until you heard some sort of commotion coming from the Downes' farm. You both shared a look before hurrying up to the house, your eyes widening when you saw your brother standing in front of Mr Downes.

"We ain't your idea of charity, get us the money" Arthur ordered as he pushed the stuttering Mr Downs against the fence, luckily it didn't look like Arthur had threw a punch yet, he was just threatening him at the moment.

"Thomas!" Mrs Downes called out her husbands name as he rushed out of the house, feeling helpless as she watched the scene play out.

"Pa!" Archie shouted as he ran towards his father, leaving your side. You knew that Archie would try to help and you knew that Arthur would quickly knock him to the ground.

"Arthur!" you called, hoping to grab your brother's attention before he did something stupid. The four of them turned to you, Arthur surprised to see you and the other three wondering how you knew this man.

"Y/N, what are you doing here?" Arthur asked with a furrowed brow, more than confused.

"Leave Mr Downes alone, he isn't well, you'll kill him" you warned, not answering his question. You knew that Arthur wouldn't actually mean to kill him but you also knew that Mr Downes was already weak and just a beating would be enough to kill him, even if Arthur didn't intend on it.

Arthur looked at Thomas Downes before letting him go and walking over to you. "What are you doing here?" Arthur asked again while Archie and his mother ran over to Thomas to make sure that he was alright.

"That is Archie's father, and that...is Archie" you informed your brother, pointing over to the family.

"Ah shit, I'm sorry..." Arthur apologised, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck. The last thing he wanted to do was upset you, he didn't even know who they were.

"What are you doing here anyway?" you asked, wondering why on Earth he was going to beat up Mr Downes.

"Collecting a debt for Strauss" he mumbled, blaming him for this whole thing.

"God damn...they ain't in a good place, can you please just let this one go?" you pleaded, knowing that Arthur couldn't say no to you.

"Yeah...sure...I'll tell Strauss something to get him to back down. I wouldn't have come here if I knew" Arthur promised you sincerely.

"I know" you smiled, completely believing him.

"Is Downes going to be okay?" he asked, feeling guilty that he was just about to beat up your boyfriend's father.

"I think so, you didn't rough him up too badly...did you cough blood at you or anything?" you asked, your eyes widening at the sudden realisation and concern.

"No" Arthur assured you with a confused expression, why did that worry you so much?

"Oh thank god, I don't want you to get sick" you sighed in relief, that was the last thing you needed.

"Alright...I'll get going then" Arthur nodded and began to walk past you to his horse.

"Arthur, don't you think you should apologise to them?" you asked, grabbing his arm and making him look down at you.

"God damn you" Arthur cursed under his breath, only making you laugh. He huffed and nodded before the both of you walked over to the family, they were all looking at you two curiously.

"I'm so sorry, Mr Downes" you apologised, you couldn't help but feel a little guilty about this whole thing. "This is my older brother, Arthur Morgan. He was just doing a job for a friend of ours, he don't usually mean any harm" you assured the family, knowing that it probably won't put them at any ease.

"I'm real sorry about the way things turned out, my intentions ain't to harm ya" Arthur apologised as well, you knew that he was only apologising for your sake but you appreciated that.

"Sure didn't seem it from our end" Mrs Downes scoffed, you couldn't blame her for that.

"If I had known who you were, I wouldn't even had come here" Arthur explained, still not helping much.

"No, you would have just killed some other poor fool" Mrs Downes argued, wrapping her arm around her husband's.

"I'm really sorry, Archie" you sighed, hanging your head. You wouldn't blame him for never wanting to see you again.

"It isn't your fault, Y/N" Archie sighed as well, not blaming you for your brother or for Strauss.

"Arthur, go back to camp, I'll be back soon" you looked up at your brother, giving him a reassuring smile. Arthur just nodded before leaving, mounting his horse and riding away.

"I am really sorry about my brother and...and Strauss too, I suppose" you apologised again to the family.

"I shouldn't have taken that money from him" Mr Downes voiced his regrets, shaking his head at his own foolishness.

"It's what Strauss does. He finds people who don't have any other choice, makes me sick to be honest" you admitted, still awkwardly avoiding their gazes.

"Are the rest of your friends like that?" Mrs Downes asked.

"No...well, some of them are. Some are better, some are worse. It also depends on the day" you told the three of them with another sigh, feeling rather defeated. Mrs Downes only sighed before taking her husband inside.

"I'm so, so sorry, Archie. If I had known I wouldn't have let him-" you began to ramble, not wanting Archie to think badly of you.

"I know, it's okay. It's not you're fault and my father is fine, just a little shaken. He'll be fine" Archie interrupted you, assuring you that he didn't blame you for what happened. He wrapped his arms around you and let you rest your head against his chest as you wrapped your arms around his waist.

"So, that's my family..." you mumbled into his chest, hoping that he didn't think any less of you.

"I don't care who your family is, I already knew that you were involved with a gang of outlaws, you told me about that honestly. You're incredible, I don't care who your brother is or who your family are" Archie assured you as he pulled away from the embrace, holding you by the shoulder and smiling down at you softly.

"Thank you, Archie...do you think your parents would be okay with everything?" you asked.

"They won't hold this against you, they really like you...and...and I love you, Y/N" he confessed as he brushed your hair out of your face.

"I love you too" you smiled happily as Archie leaned down to you, pressing his lips against yours in a lingering sweet kiss. You instantly returned his kiss, wrapping your arms loosely around his neck.

-----

After speaking with the Downes family and spending a little more time with Archie, you returned to the camp. As soon as Arthur saw you, he walked up to you. He still felt bad about what happened and he just hoped that he hadn't ruined anything for you.

"Y/N, are you alright?" Arthur asked, half expecting you to slap him.

"I'm alright" you assured him with a smile.

"How did it go?...did I ruin everything?" he asked, this time more hesitantly, like he didn't want to know the answer.

"You didn't ruin anything, Arthur. Everything is just fine. Mr Downes is going to be alright and Archie isn't angry about it. I'm just glad I got there before you did something stupid" you told him, assuring him that everything would be okay and that you weren't angry at him.

"Yeah, me too. So, you and Archie are still good?" Arthur asked with a slight smile, he couldn't forgive himself if he had ruined something good in your life. He knew that this life was difficult and more cruel than kind, if you found something good you should hang onto it. He really didn't want to be the reason that you lost it.

"Yeah, it's all good. I spoke to him after you left...everything is great" you smiled brightly, remembering how Archie confessed his love for you.

"Good" Arthur let out a sigh of relief, happily accepting your hug. He wrapped his arms around you and gently patted your back as you pulled away form him, flashing him a warm smile. Maybe you would wait a little longer before introducing Archie to your family.
