soojin put her phone away into her purse, once she saw the car pull up in her driveway. the girl walked to the car, only to get stopped by the person driving it as he got out and walked around, opening the passenger door for her. soojin giggled at the fact, "thank you, mingyu." the girl said as she got into the passengers seat. mingyu nodded his head, closing her door for her and walking around, getting into the drivers seat.
the boy drove the two to the party which was a couple miles away from soojin's house, but mingyu didn't mind spending miles on the girl. once the two arrived at the house, mingyu parked his car in front of the house, getting out and helping soojin get out. the boy locked his car as they walked up to the door, going inside the party together.
soojin looked around, seeing if she'd recognize anybody's face. "fuck, why is she here?" the girl mentally cursed in her head, suddenly feeling anxious.
"hey, soo, what's wrong?" mingyu questioned the girl, noticing her anxiousness.
soojin continued to look in the direction of her ex, zoning out. mingyu turned his attention to where soojin was looking, realizing that it was her ex who was here. mingyu grabbed the girl's hand, "it's okay, i got you."
soojin snapped out of her zoned out self, looking down at their hands and softly smiling, as she felt more relaxed with their hands intertwined. mingyu lead the girl the opposite way from her ex, as he wanted her to be more comfortable and feel safer.
"do you want anything to drink?" mingyu asked the girl, who thought about it for a second.
"surprise me." soojin smiled, "but don't go too crazy, i'm a lightweight!"
mingyu laughed at the girl, nodding his head as he walked away to the drink station which was close to them. soojin went on her phone as a distraction, as she didn't really feel like spending her night with anyone besides mingyu.
the boy came back, with water in one hand and soojin's drink in the other. the girl quickly got off her phone, grabbing her drink from mingyu, "thank you." she said, pausing as she saw mingyu's drink, "you're not gonna have anything?"
"no, i'm driving." mingyu shook his head, "i'm trying to get you home safely."
soojin smiled at how selfless mingyu was, taking a sip of her drink which surprised her considering she liked it, "what is this? it's good."
"a vodka strawberry lemonade." mingyu responded, "i wasn't sure what to get you, but i didn't want it to be too strong for you."
"thank you." the girl said, catching herself smiling again.
mingyu nodded his head, taking a sip of his water. the two talked for a while as they finished their drinks. once their drinks were gone, mingyu invited the girl outside for some fresh air. soojin decided to join the boy, grabbing his hand before joining him outside. the two wandered to a more secluded place, sitting by a tree together.
"thank you for agreeing to come out with me tonight." mingyu spoke up, thanking the younger.
"of course, mingyu." soojin responded, glancing over at the boy, "thank you for taking me out and making this week better."
as the two started to get into another conversation, they were joined by an unwanted presence.
"so this is the guy you decided to move on from me with?" soojin's ex asked, looking over at mingyu, "she's too ugly for you, why would you stoop so low?"
mingyu stood up, which resulted into soojin standing up as she started to beg mingyu not to say anything and to leave it. mingyu shook his head, "zo, leave her alone." mingyu rolled his eyes, pulling soojin closer to him, "she's beautiful, and you obviously know that because you dated her and told her such."
zo started to laugh, "i only told her such things when i wanted things from her. she's easy to please and convince, you know."
"damn, you really think you're the shit." mingyu scoffed, "being a shit ass person isn't a proud thing to flex, but okay."
zo rolled her eyes at mingyu, then turning to soojin, "looks like princess can't stick up for herself."
"princess can stick up for herself, but she chooses not to talk to peasants because a princess like me must never get her hands dirty talking to a peasant like you." soojin smiled sweetly at zo.
"what'd you say?" zo furrowed her eyebrows, taken back at what soojin said.
soojin giggled, "you heard me." soojin sighed softly, "the princess has to leave now, because she would like to spend time with her prince."
"oh yeah? but does he know you're moving to korea once summer begins?" zo asked, stopping the two from walking away.
mingyu shrugged, "just gotta spend my time with her now and make it last."
soojin looked at mingyu and smiled, pulling him away as she waved goodbye to her ex. the two then left the party altogether, as they found it to be a bust. once they reached the car, the younger started jumping up and down from excitement.
"mingyu! did you see that?" soojin squealed out, "i completely had her star struck when i finally said something to her face!"
mingyu smiled at the girl, holding the passenger door open for her, "it's about time you made her know you're a princess and that she's not worth you."
soojin walked over to mingyu, wrapping her arms around him and embracing him in a hug, "thank you for thinking i'm beautiful."
"it's not a chore to realize the truth about someone, so don't treat it like it is." mingyu laughed.
the girl smiled, unwrapping her arms from mingyu and getting into the car. the two drove around town for a while, having their own party in the car with the stereo playing all their favorite songs. before mingyu took soojin home, he took her out to an ice cream polar, where they talked for a while. after the ice cream polar, they decided to take pictures while walking around the strip mall. while walking back to the car, mingyu finally spoke up on his thoughts.
"so, i know you most likely don't have a crush on me, but, i'd like to know how you felt about me." mingyu mentioned, gaining soojin's attention.
"well, i do currently have a crush on somebody, so i'll tell you that." soojin confessed, "but, tonight, you made me feel a different kind of happiness. i hadn't felt such thing in so long, but i'm not sure how i exactly feel about you. right now i think i see you as my really close friend, but if anything changes, i'll definitely let you know."
"and if anything changes, i'll definitely take you out on a date." mingyu smiled, which also made the girl smile.
"oh mingyu, you're taking me out on a date either way. i'm not leaving malaysia without a date from you." soojin giggled, not giving mingyu an option.
"i wouldn't want you leaving without having a date with me anyway." mingyu's smile grew brighter.
soojin softly smiled at mingyu, feeling happy that she was able to even feel so happy. the two walked back to the car, as they were ready to both go home. mingyu drove the girl home, giving her a kiss on the forehead before she entered her house. the girl smiled as she walked upstairs.
soojin walked past hyunsoo's door, walking back to it and knocking on it before entering, "hey hyun, why are you still awake?"
"i was waiting for you to come home." hyunsoo responded, holding his teddy bear at his chest.
soojin smiled at the boy, sitting on his bed and leaning down, kissing his forehead, "you're the sweetest ten year old."
"i turn eleven soon!" hyunsoo pointed out, "you just turned seventeen, so next is me!"
soojin laughed at her little brother, "until then, you'll be my little ten year old brother." the girl then hummed, "do you think you'd like to come to korea with me this summer? see minho and jisung again and meet all their cool friends?"
"can i?" hyunsoo gasped out, sitting up, "i really miss minho and jisung!"
"i thought you only missed minho." soojin laughed more, "since when did you start missing jisung?"
"when i realized it was mean to miss only one person." hyunsoo mumbled under his breath, feeling bad.
"you're so precious, hyun." soojin told the younger, "but of course you can. do you think you're big enough to fly back home alone though?"
"you're not coming back with me?" hyunsoo asked, feeling saddened.
soojin sighed out, shaking her head, "no, bubba." the girl then started up, "but! i promise i'll come here every other weekend, every holiday, most definitely your birthday, and try to come the times you miss me."
"pinky promise?" hyunsoo questioned the girl, sticking out his pinky finger.
the girl connected her pinky finger with her little brothers, pressing their thumbs together, "i pinky promise."
hyunsoo smiled, "so who's all jisung and minho's friends? i wanna know! are they extra cool?"
"you would definitely love felix, as he plays fortnite and constantly has to learn the dances, he also says some cliché jokes too. chan and woojin are the eldest ones of the group, and they graduate this year, but they're also very sweet, kinda bold, but besides the point." soojin giggled at her own sentence, "changbin is really caring, he likes to act all tough and bad, but we all know he's a sweet angel on the inside. hyunjin, really sarcastic like me, but he's so kind, and he's the softest boy ever for seungmin and jeongin." soojin continued to explain, "seungmin is the dandiest of dandy boys, and he's obsessed with day six, it's his favorite band ever. and jeongin, he's the baby, just like you. he's so sweet, and such a mood maker, but that never stops him from being a brat at times."
"i like jeongin and felix already!" hyunsoo cheered, "i can't wait to meet the others either, they seem cool! extra cool!"
soojin nodded her head, "they are extra cool, and the best boys i know— next to you, of course."
hyunsoo smiled, wrapping his arms around his elder sister, "thank you for coming home safely."
soojin melted at her little brother's sentence, wrapping her arms back around him, "thank you for staying up and waiting for me to come home safely." soojin then pulled away, pushing hyunsoo's hair out of his face, "you should get some rest now, bub."
"tuck me in!" hyunsoo said, raising his arms as he held his teddy bear tightly in his left hand.
soojin laughed, getting off the bed and having hyunsoo lay down. the elder tucked her little brother in, making sure he was all warm and snuggly, "goodnight, hyunsoo," the girl said, kissing his forehead, "don't ever settle for less, wait until someone treats you like the prince that you are, okay?"
"okay soojin-jinnie!" hyunsoo smiled, "goodnight!"
the elder then turned off hyunsoo's light, walking out of his room and closing the door behind her. she walked back into her room, putting her stuff away and glancing at the photo frame of her and jisung hugging with minho photobombing in the background. the girl smiled, feeling happy that she knew she'd be seeing them soon, along with the other friends she's made through them. the girl picked up the frame, smiling to herself, "see you losers soon."
