"Okay, guys, this is going to be one of our most important missions yet," you slammed a hand down onto the glass table of the meeting room, where you and all the Avengers were gathered. "Peter's birthday is coming up, and we have exactly two days to prepare."
"That's this Saturday, yes?" Pietro confirmed.
"Mhm," you nodded. "Who'd like to be in charge of decorations?"
Wanda, Natasha, and Vision raised their hands. "Okay," you looked over at them, "we got our decoration team. Food?"
Thor and Bucky raised their hands. "Okay, you guys will be responsible for getting the cake and any other necessary foods. Dad, do you think you can do the guest list with someone?"
"Yup, we can do that," Tony pointed at himself and Steve.
"Alright, then. I'm going to be the one distracting Peter on that day. For those of you who I haven't assigned a job to, make sure to do your best in helping the others out. Does everyone understand what they're doing?"
"Yup," everyone replied in unison.
"Okay. Operation Happy Birthday Spider-Boi is now in play."
"Creative name, kiddo," Tony pointed out, raising an eyebrow.
"I know," you grinned. "This meeting is now concluded."
With that, everyone separated, and you walked out the doors of the meeting room.
Peter was right around the corner, just finishing the last bite of his chocolate chip cookie, when he looked up and saw you, the edges of his mouth turning up in a grin. "Hey!"
"Hi, Pete," you waved, trying to ignore the blush creeping up your face. You'd been best friends for as long as you could remember and somewhere along the way, you'd fallen for him.
How could you not, though? The boy was almost irresistible.
"Got a birthday coming up soon, huh?"
"Yup. It's the big seventeen," he said excitedly. "Should I feel old?"
"Nah," you waved that thought off. "You're good. So, what do you want to do this weekend? Anything you have in mind?"
"Maybe just a simple lunch at that really good Italian place downtown, then we could go to froyo," he suggested. "Nothing big, really."
"Yeah, we could do that. Oh! And a Star Wars movie marathon!"
"Hell yes," he gave you a high-five.
"Language," Steve warned, suddenly appearing out of nowhere with a chuckling Bucky by his side.
"Hahahahahaaaaa, you guys should've seen the looks on your faces. Man, it was priceless," Bucky cackled, clutching a hand to his stomach.
Then, when Peter left to go grab a snack, he lowered his voice to a whisper. "You got your plan down?"
"Got it," you whispered back. "He's going to be pretty distracted. Italian for lunch, then froyo, so you guys have plenty of time to prepare."
...
The big day couldn't come soon enough, and the Avengers were rushing around, coming in and out the door, making last-minute changes, adding on new ideas to your so-called 'grand plan' for Peter's birthday bash. Meanwhile, you were in the kitchen munching on a piece of castella for breakfast, mentally planning out what you were going to do to distract Peter today.
Right as you finished your train of thought, Peter came wandering into the kitchen, hair messed up and in his Midtown t-shirt and PJs. His face immediately lit up when he saw you, his million-dollar smile making you swoon internally.
"Morning," he greeted, rubbing his eyes and stepping forward to pull you into a hug.
"Happy birthday!" you laughed, wrapping your arms around his torso. "You excited for today?"
"Yup. It's just you and me, doing whatever we want," he chuckled.
You and me.
Your heart did a little flip at that statement.
After you watched part of A New Hope, you guys parted ways to get ready for lunch. You put on a knitted sweater and a denim skirt that you'd borrowed from Wanda, and brushed your hair before putting it up into a half-up, half-down style. Satisfied with your final appearance, you headed downstairs.
Clint was waiting downstairs with Natasha when you got there. "He'll be down in a minute," they explained.
"Wow, you're dressed fancy," Clint smirked. "Got a hot date?"
"No," you scoffed, whacking him in the shoulder with the sleeve of your sweater. "The plan. Remember?"
"Ohhhhh...right. But still. Date!" He winked at you, just as Peter came down.
"You look nice," you commented, observing his form-fitting T-shirt with a flannel over it, and dark jeans.
"You too," he complimented back. "Ready?"
"Yup. Phil's waiting outside, so we should probably get going. Bye Nat, love you! And Clint, don't do anything stupid and mess things up like you always do." You gave Natasha a quick hug and Clint a fist-bump.
"What do you mean? I don't mess things up?" Clint protested. "I'm very organized and orderly!"
"Sure."
You climbed into the sleek, black limo with Peter and were immediately greeted by Phil.
"Where am I taking you guys today?"
"That new Italian place downtown," Peter responded.
"Oh, that place is amazing. I love their ravioli."
When Peter wasn't looking, Phil winked at you, making a little heart sign with his hands. You shot him a warning glare before shaking your head and quietly laughing to yourself.
Peter, being the gentleman he was, got out of the car first so that he could hold the door open for you. He gave you another million-dollar smile, and you could literally feel your heart melt into a puddle of nothing but happiness and warmth.
Okay, maybe that was an over-exaggeration, but still.
You went inside and told the waitress your reservation, and she led you guys to your table, handing you menus.
"So..." you peered over at the menu that was handed to you, "Ravioli?"
"Sure. And we can share the seafood pasta? I looked online, and the portions are ginormous."
...
The meal was delicious, especially the ravioli. You made a mental note to thank Phil later for the recommendation, which you did once you hopped inside the limo to go back to the compound.
"Told you," Phil grinned. "Did you guys enjoy your date?"
"Phil," Peter groaned. "It was not a date. It's just a simple birthday celebration and I didn't want anything big, so I just took her with me to---"
"Sounds like a date to me," he smirked, before turning back around to refocus his gaze on the street ahead of him.
Suddenly, you got a text from Natasha asking about the 'plan', and if everything had gone well with the two of you. You typed out a quick response saying that it did, and that he didn't suspect a thing, before Peter could look over to see what you were doing.
Before you knew it you were back at the compound. As you pushed the front door open with Peter behind you, you were greeted with darkness. Shadows danced across the walls as Peter looked around in confusion, clueless to what was going on. You silently giggled at the sight: it was cute seeing him all oblivious to the whole situation.
"Hello?" Peter called out. "Anyone there?"
The lights suddenly flickered on to reveal a giant, glittering banner on the wall that read, 'Happy 17th Birthday, Spidey!' and everyone jumped out from behind the couch and the kitchen counters, yelling, "Happy birthday!"
Peter clapped a hand over his mouth in shock, then turned to you. "D-did you...h-how...b-but..."
"Yes, she flew us all the way over here yesterday and we were hiding here this whole time," Shuri smiled widely at him.
You grinned, placing a hand on his shoulder. "We were planning secretly and were able to pull this off."
"Thank you so much," he mumbled into your hair as he pulled you in for a hug. "You're the best."
Damn you butterflies, you cursed the butterflies zipping around inside your stomach at those words.
"Damn right I am," you joked. "I'm awesome."
"Language," Steve scolded, but he too, was laughing.
...
Everyone was eager to do the pinata, so they all gathered outside. Shuri went around placing birthday hats on everyone's heads, giving Peter the most colorful, flamboyant, eye-catching one.
"Oooh, it's the Avengers logo!" Peter pointed up at the pinata swaying back and forth in the wind, hanging off a tree branch by a rope.
He was able to make a small crack in the side after three hits, making the job for everyone after him a bit easier. Being blindfolded made things harder.
It was down towards the last few people in line now, and so far, no one had been able to crack it all the way open so you were all relying on Bucky and Sam.
"Go, Buck!" you and Peter cheered as Thor spun the Winter Soldier around five times before letting him go.
At first, he kept swinging at just air, causing everyone to laugh.
Those laughs quickly turned to 'oohs' and 'oh damns' when he spun around and whacked Sam straight in the stomach.
"Ow!" Sam glared at Bucky, taking the bat from him once the blindfold was taken off of him. "You could've crushed my ribcage if you had aimed a few inches higher!"
It only took one try for him to smash the pinata and crack it wide open, making it fall to the ground and spill candy everywhere.
"CANDY!" Thor boomed, and everyone dove for the giant mound of sweets on the grass.
You began pulling as many candies as you could towards you with your arms and shoved them into a plastic bag you'd gotten from the kitchen earlier, Peter helping you do so.
"And the winner of this candy war is Spidey!" Tony held Peter's arm up when all the candy was collected, as if he was the victor of a boxing round.
...
Once you were done with all the games (which included an intense dance-off and the three-legged race), you headed inside for the cake. It was Spider-Man themed, all red, black, and blue, with touches of white.
"Woahhhhhhhh,..." Peter gaped at the cake, "This is awesome."
Everyone began singing "Happy Birthday" and as the candles were lit, one by one, you couldn't help but notice how genuinely happy Peter looked in that moment, the soft candlelight illuminating his face and making it glow.
He's so adorable, you thought to yourself.
No! You do not think that about your best friend!
Oh well. I'm already in too deep in a pool of feelings, so what's the point of trying to escape now.
"Make a wish!" Wanda urged once they all finished singing.
He closed his eyes for a moment to make his wish. But instead of immediately blowing out the candles once he was done, he spun you around so that you were facing him and pulled you in, placing his lips on yours.
You didn't know how long it was until you broke apart. It could've been days, weeks, months, or years, but nonetheless, you were feeling as if you were floating high up in the air and if it weren't for all the people standing around you'd be screaming, running around and fangirling about how you'd just kissed the Peter Parker. Your dad smirked knowingly at you, he'd known that you'd been crushing on him for the longest time and was the one who had gotten everyone to jump onboard the Y/N X Peter ship.
"I love you," he smiled down at you once you two pulled away from each other.
"I know," you smirked at him.
"Oooooooooh..." Quill whistled. "She's tough, man. Dude, that Star Wars reference!"
"Was that your wish, Peter?"
"Maybe..." He looked back and forth, trying to look innocent.
"Don't get your hopes up, Spider-Boy," you smacked his shoulder playfully, before pulling him in for another kiss. "I'm kidding. I love you too."
"Dude, this isn't even my birthday but it was one of the best days ever so far this year," Sam leaned over to say to Steve. "They're so cute."
"I know, right?" the Captain agreed. "I think we've all been waiting for this to happen for a really long time."
