Arizona POV
**Flashback**
Its Grammys day and I couldn't be more excited to get Austin back plus I was singing on stage with Ariana which was going to be amazing. We are both currently in the front room getting our hair and makeup done for the event. Ariana is going to wear a light purple dress which was just the most beautiful dress I swear and mine was a light green so they looked good together since we will be walking the carpet together.
We do have a change of outfits for our song and Ariana had them custom designed for tonight and had actually had them in the works for a week or two, before I even knew she wanted to do a song together, but it made me happy to know she wasn't just doing this for me to forget about Austin. We finish up our make up and we both get help getting into our dress, "wow you look amazing" I said walking into the front room seeing Ariana standing in her dress "No you look amazing." She said looking at my dress.
"we both look amazing!" I said and we both laughed and headed out to a black SUV waiting for us we both got in and headed to the red carpet. "were the next car" the driver said looking back at us and we both nodded. Finally, the door was opened, and I got our first and Ariana followed as soon as we stepped out, we heard our names called from every direction. I hadn't spoke on the Austin situation and I don't think he did either, so I know everyone was going to be curious about why I wasn't showing up with him.
We headed to the first stop and we both put our arms behind each other and smile at the flashing lights, its very blinding but I'm starting to get used to it which was helping a lot. We then moved onto the next spot, along the carpet there's X tape marks that we stop at and pose for the cameras. Someone is walking in front of us with a sign that says Ariana Grand and Arizona Korrs so that they can call our name to look at their camera.
The next pose we did was hugged each other and looked at the cameras smiling, this was really fun being here with Ariana, but I was ready to see Austin, but he must not be here yet. As we walked to the next spot Ariana grabbed my hand and I followed her and of course pictures were taken, I know there will be rumors tomorrow about us being lesbians especially since I wasn't walking the carpet with Austin.
Then we did some separate poses and then came back together and walked to where the interviews were going on which I was hoping they only talked to Ariana and not me because I wasn't sure what to say if they did ask me things about Austin. "Ariana, Arizona how are you girl doing? Looking beautiful." The girl said as we walked over to her she hugged us both and then stepped back holding the microphone.
"so, you girls are performing together tonight, this is your first time Arizona are you nervous?"
"Um yeah I would say I am, but I have my best friend next to me so I know it will be fine, I'm excited." I said smiling at Ariana and she smiled back. "your girls' friendship is goals, you two are very close, is there ever anything more?" the girl asked, and I glanced at Ariana and rolled my eyes.
"nope just really good friends, she's my best friend." Ariana said hugging me and the reporter dropped it. "Arizona where is Post Malone?" my heart sank I was hoping this would come up "Actually we don't care to comment on that, this is her night to perform for the first time, I'm nominated we just want to enjoy and have fun tonight." Ariana said and we wrapped up the interview and decided not to do another one.
We made our way into the venue and found our seats I didn't even look to see who we were sitting by, we were in the front row and we were to perform the second hour of the show so we had an hour to watch, which I was excited for the performances I had always watched the Grammys on TV and now I was here and performing. The lights dimmed down, and I knew the award show was starting, Alicia Keys was hosting so she walked out on stage, I looked around for Austin but didn't see him anywhere maybe he was performing in the first hour and was backstage.
Before I knew it, she was announcing Austin to be the first performance. I watched as he performed, and he was half way through when I caught his eye and he looked at almost shocked that I was there, and I noticed worry washed over his face, he quickly glanced away from me and over to the other side of the chairs.
I looked down to where he was looking and I noticed a girl standing up singing along and dancing as Austin performed then she moved her head to where I could make out her features and my blood ran cold and I felt a tear pick my eye, I felt my breath hitch in my throat and I felt like I couldn't breathe. Carrie.
It was Carrie standing and dancing to Austin's music I just was at a loss for words when Ariana put her hand on my arm "what's wrong boo?" she said looking to where I was looking It was like I couldn't look away. "What are you looki- oh my god what is she doing here?" Ariana said as she noticed who I was looking at, I still haven't found my voice.
"boo hello Arizona talk to me." I turned my head looking at a worried Ariana "I yeah I don't know." I said trying to pull my thoughts together. "do you want to leave? We can leave?" she said looking worried "no we have to perform we can't leave" I said trying not to cry why was she here? "are you sure, we really can leave." She said and I shook my head no. I was a damn strong woman and I wasn't going to let her ruin anything else for me.
I was so lost in my thoughts that Austin was already done performing and I didn't even notice it. The seat next to me was still empty but now someone was in it I looked over to see Swae sitting there. "hey shorty, are doing ok?" he said leaning over and whispering in my ear and hugging me, "I was but Carrie is here, and I'm not sure why, I plan on getting Austin back tonight." I said looking at him and he just looked around until he noticed the girl I noticed. "do I need to go kick her out?" he said causing me to laugh a little "you are a great friend" and we were cut off by the nominations being read for Swae's category with the song he wrote for me.
"and the winner is Swaelee, and Ellie Goulding Close to Me."
Swae stood up and so did I he hugged me then hugged his crew behind us as he made his way to the stage, I was so proud of him. I was still standing and clapping. "this is my first Grammy and it's amazing, I want to thank my fans, my team, and most important the best friend I wrote this song about! Thank you so much Arizona for the inspiration" I smiled at him and clapped at his speech.
I haven't looked back over to where Carrie was sitting due to the fact that I was nervous, what if she was here with Austin? Finally, they were announcing the winner for the album of the year and Austin and Ariana were both in it. I was nervous I wanted either one of them to win I was still rooting for both. Ariana grabbed my hand and I could tell she was nervous. This was her first Grammy nomination.
"and the winner is Ariana Grande for Sweetener." We both stood up and she pulled me into a huge hug before she headed up to the stage to accept it, I looked to see if I could see Austin but couldn't which meant he was probably back stage still, my heart hurt a little that he lost this category but I was proud and happy for Ari. She gave her speech and blew me a kiss and walked backstage I was now pretty much alone, Swae was still backstage and now Ari was too.
I was watching the next performance when a man came over to me "hey Ari needs you backstage." And with that I got up and followed him back and seen Ariana standing in a white outfit now and I knew that meant our time was coming soon.
"here this is your outfit" she said handing me stuff on hangers. It was a white jacket, snow white pants and a white bra for under the jacket it was a hot outfit without being too much. She was wearing a longer jacket like a raincoat, and a white dress with knee-high boots. We finish everything and look at each other giving each other compliments.
"let's go baby girl." She said grabbing my hand and we walked to where the stage was, the wall was still down so no one could see us yet. Finally, they announced us, and my stomach sunk I was now nervous more than I ever was. "You'll do great picture everyone naked." Ari said as the stage lifted up. here we go. The music started playing and we had dancers behind us, and we had a dance that we learned yesterday which now I was worried about forgetting. We did the dance routine and I wasn't forgetting anything, and we were just having fun I almost forgot about Carrie.
I was going about our dance and singing when I looked down and saw Austin standing next to Carrie watching me. He was standing with Carrie, he brought Carrie to the Grammys? My heart sank I felt my heart break into a million pieces right in front of the world on this stage. I finished the song and then got off stage and Ariana grabbed me as I started to cry, "come on were going home" she said walking with me.
"Arizona wait!" I hear Austin behind me, and I look to see Ariana send him the nastiest look I've seen her give, he just kept saying my name over and over and my heart was breaking more with every single time he said Arizona. "Please" Ariana stopped and spun around. "damn it Austin shut up, stop right there and leave her the fuck alone, she will talk when she's ready." I haven't heard her sound so mad and yell like that.
We got into the car and I cried the whole way home. once we got home Ariana walked me up the stairs and into the room, unzipped my dress and I went into the bathroom to get changed and walked back out with an already changed Ariana standing with tissues. She patted the spot next to her for me to sit.
"he deserves a congratulations." I said between my tears "what do you mean?" she said looking at me confused. "because my heart is the hardest to break and he's broke it. I'm not a cry baby but here I am breaking." I said laying my head into her lap and I don't remember anything else after that except darkness.
