Chapter 16: A sentimental talk

Warning: Major feels
At dinner, everyone was talking and having fun. "So everyone what's your favorite memory?" Lloyd asked. Everyone was finishing up dinner, therefore, they didn't respond immediately. Lloyd turned to Mistaké. "That was delicious. Thank you." he told her. Afterwards, he went to clean his plate. "It was no problem." She replied with a warm smile expressing gratitude. "Alright I will be on deck if you need me." Lloyd informed the rest of his group, after, he walked out. When he was walking along the wooden flooring, the blonde started to think about how at training, he saw those purple marks around harumi's neck. He wondered how she got them. Resting those thoughts aside, he went out stood in the center of the deck. He gazed up at the starry night sky. It was so beautiful he was was always so fond of the stars thinking they were his only friends for many years back at darkly's.

Though when he was six years old, his mother dropped him off at that horrible school. He sighed as he thought about how they expected him to be just like his father. All the tricks and mean pranks they did to him, it gave him shivers thinking about everything. However, he shook the feeling off and he kept his eyes fixed on the night sky. Lloyd focused on his initial thought. He was still wondering how Harumi even got those marks in the first place. He sighed. He desperately wanted to ask her but he knew better then to up and ask her. Man he loved these stars. But something abruptly came into Lloyd's train of thoughts: When Harumi said she still had feelings for him,was she telling the truth? He signed and thought again: Does he actually like her back even after what she did to him? No, he couldn't think about these things now. Everyone is certainly having a good time and second, they were really becoming a great big family. He couldn't ruin that occasion to doubt about some probably false thoughts. He just wanted everyone to be happy and getting along with each other. he hated seeing others fight. Even when he was younger, he didn't understand why everyone wanted to fight.

I mean he's still a kid at heart, and sorta in mind but.... that doesn't matter he holds a responsibility until the other ninjas got home. He rubbed his eyes, he was honestly so tired he didn't like anything that was happening but what was he supposed to do? But to his surprise, his thoughts were interrupted by a low growl. Lloyd assumed it was his beloved Ultra dragon and just continued looking at the sky. The cold night air wafted against his cheeks. Lloyd got chilly, and thought maybe he should turn in for the night. The Gi he had held so little warmth for the night. He knew that much. It couldn't be helped however since he was lost in his thoughts again. It made him jump when something touched his arm lightly. Lloyd's heart froze in place, his instincts kicked in, thus he attacked. Obviously surprised by his attack, the person ended up on the ground. Lloyd guessed from the thump. He turned around with his sword in hand. He refused to return his sword to the training room for he wanted to practice the sword techniques a bit more before going
to bed. He hated to admit it, his father certainly taught him a lot.

But, Lloyd's eyes widened at who he saw. "Oh, it's you..." Lloyd said to the familiar coal-coloured oni lord, Garmadon. The man looked slightly scared. Which was the first for the creature himself. Lloyd lifted his sword then placed it back on the ground but take note, away from his so-called "father." Lloyd turned around and basically ignored him. His chin was lifted to face the sky once again. Garmadon wasn't pleased at all. The two men fell silent until a sentence escaped the older man's lips: "So, what was that for?" Garmadon asked him. Narrowing down his eyebrows, Lloyd answered: "What do you mean?" The blonde wanted precision but still refused to turn around.
"What you just did, boy." Garmadon repeated, irritated . The green ninja sighed.

"Attacking you?" he inquired. "Yes." garmadon answered dryly. He was mostly surprised at Lloyd's oblivious state at the moment. Such a dumbfounded child, he thought. "Well that's what I always do when people sneak up behind me. If you had your memories maybe you would have remembered that." Lloyd whispered. Garmadon rolled his eyes. Later, a thought came to Lloyd. "Since you easily fooled Skylor, which wasn't funny by the way, weren't Scales and the other serpentine keeping an eye on you? To make sure you didn't get into trouble?" Lloyd questioned, getting skeptic ideas. Garmadon sighed at his turn. "They are so boring. I walked around then ended up here. That's when I got attacked by a green leprechaun!" Garmadon exclaimed to him. That last part was ofcourse a sarcastic comment.

The blonde rolled his eyes. "I am not a leprechaun, I'm not short and I don't have a beard!" Lloyd corrected him, quite flustered. Through finally, he dared making eye contact with him. Garmadon smirked at his burst. "So is that how to get you mad?" Garmadon asked him. Lloyd shook his head. Trying to remain in a calm state but it was slowly deceiving him. "I'm not angry. I just hate it when people talk about my height." Lloyd's voice died down as he realized they were getting into a sensitive topic. "What do you mean?" Garmadon asked curiously. It still made Lloyd's heart ache when he heard that. His own father couldn't even remember that? "I was a tiny child." Lloyd explained to him as if he was a stranger. He made sure not to go into detail. Garmadon let out a small laugh and Lloyd turned to face him. "What's so funny?" He asked him.

"In short you." Garmadon said quickly. Not seeming to comprehend his explanation, he raised raised an eyebrow. "How am I funny?" he requested for precision once again. The man shrugged at his turn. The green ninja didn't bother with that unsure response, he was about to walk away when: "I mean you're weak but you try so hard why is that?" Garmadon asked him, as if he was being one of those annoying interviewers begging for his source of determination. Lloyd felt his blood beginning to boil. He turned to face his father. "You know da-Garmadon, you know what I had to do and witness? " he asked. As if he was face to face with his father. He continued dryly: "I had to banish you to the cursed realm! Where I would never see you again. Do you know how that feels to lose your father? Or how about when you find out a group wants to bring back the worst parts of your father?! I had nightmares about that! For your information, the girl I had a crush on was the one who wanted to bring you back! I was scared...no- terrified. I wanted you back! Because I loved you! And last I checked you loved me too! But I guess not becau— "Lloyd was cut off when he bumped into something-probably a pole and passed out for a mere period of time.
~~~~~~~
Lloyd groaned whilst waking up. That's when he heard voices: " YOU KIDNAPPED MY SON!" It was Lord Garmadon's voice. He was heard yelling at who knows who? "S-Sir I'm sorry. But we promise we didn't harm your son. He's safe in a room and he was sleeping when we took the flying ship." Snake informed him. Lord Garmadon growled. Then turned to Pythor. "Can you deal with these snakes while I go check on my son?" He requested to the Anacondrai. Pythor gleefully replied. "Of course! Lord Garmadon I'd be happy to!" Pythor accepted. Hearing those words, Lord Garmadon dismissed the two snakes to start on their assigned jobs. As for him, he walked away.
Lloyd was still half asleep when Lord Garmadon opened the door. The green ninja's vision was blurry and he saw a figure he recognized enter into the room. "Dad?" He whimpered. "Oh, Lloyd you're ok." Garmadon felt relief and he walked over. Lloyd groaned trying to sit up and earn a better view of the creature coming closer. The man saw what he was trying to do but lightly pushed him back down. "Dad?" Lloyd called again, this time confused. "Lloyd you need to rest." Garmadon told him calmly. The boy was even more confused. "But I just woke up from sleeping. Why do I need more rest?" Lloyd Inquired and rubbed his eyes. He felt energetic to the point he wanted to get off this bed. Garmadon smiled and leaned forward, kissing Lloyd's head. The boy giggled. "Dad!" He exclaimed, joyful at the small peck. The proud father smiled. "I love you so much Lloyd. don't ever forget that. You are my world. You are my everything." Garmadon told him. The blonde smiled, hearing those words. "I know." he replied knowingly. Garmadon however wasn't done. "But, Lloyd please know that even if something happens, When I lose control of my emotions and try to destroy you or even forget about you, remember this: 'deep down even if it doesn't seem like it, I still love and care about you. Even if it doesn't seem that way all you have to do his help me remember everything.' Can you do this Lloyd?" He inquired. Lloyd nodded.
Garmadon smiled. "Good. I'll leave you some time to rest." He ended their small talk and he closed the door, locking it behind him. The blonde signed. He was now alone. Though, later that night, the oni lord crept around the hall, his skin blending in with the darkness. As he came upon the room his son was in, he slowly opened the door. He went in and saw his son sleeping peacefully under the dark green covers. The older man gave a warm smile as he went over and tapped Lloyd's shoulder. The initial response from Lloyd was a groan. He rolled over. "Come on son, wake up." He called. "Kai I don't want to get up for training." Lloyd answered back. "Lloyd i'm not Kai. Remember, you're with me. Come on wake up, silly." Garmadon whispered. Hearing those words, Lloyd sat up and rubbing his eyes. He was pretty perplexed and embarrassed to say the least. "Dad?" He asked sleepily.
"Hey son."Garmadon greeted. The room was still pretty dark and obviously Lloyd caught a glimpse of that. He asked: "What time is it?". Garmadon looked at the clock. "It's about eight at night." He responded to his question earning wide eyes from his son. "Why did you wake me up? If I was with the ninjas, they would kill me for being up so late." Lloyd told him and crossed his arms. The lord smiled His son yawned and moved to the next topic. "So what's up? Something wrong?" Lloyd requested to know the current situation. Garmadon then remembered why he came in here. "I wanted to show you something." he told Lloyd. "I'm tired." lloyd complained, which was a rather ironic response judging from his earlier mood. Garmadon walked over to his son. A yelp escapes his lips as he felt weightless. His father picked him up into arms. "Dad?" he asked him again. Curious by his actions. he yawned, the man looked down on his son. Carrying his child, he walked towards the deck, that's when Lloyd began getting cold from the freezing air. Garmadon hugged him to try to warm his small body up. Though, he walked over to the side of the deck. Then sat his son down on ledge. Still holding onto him to make sure he didn't fall.
Lloyd looked up at sky, astonished at what he saw. It was a navy canvas dotted with a million dots. It was like painted stars on the dark-coloured canvas. He smiled. he had always loved the stars. "Lloyd, you love these stars don't you?" Garmadon chuckled at his sparkling expression, watching the stars reflect against one another. The boy nodded. "Well Lloyd, when you feel lonely, scared or anything, look at the stars and know I'll be looking at them too. So we will look at them together I promise. Lloyd you're never alone. Because i will always be near. I'll be in your heart forever. " Garmadon told him. The boy gave out a suppressed a gasp. " My chest?" Lloyd asked confused. His father let out a laugh. "No Lloyd, your heart." he corrected him. Understanding what his father said, Lloyd continued: "Promise you'll always watch the stars even when we're apart? Promise you'll always be thinking of me when you see those stars?" His son made him promise.
"I promise Lloyd. I promise." Garmadon repeated his vow.
~~~~~~
"Green ninja? Green ninja? Green ninja?!" The oni lord shouted, all of his four arms grasping on the blonde's shoulders. Lloyd flinched and his eyes fluttered open. Regaining consciousness, he saw that he was still on the deck and Garmadon was there, staring down at him. It was noticeable that it looked like a sincere worried expression. Lloyd was bewildered, everything hurt. "What happened?" Lloyd requested for a status update. Garmadon surprisingly helped him up but walking was all up to him. The blonde wobbled a little. "What happened?" Lloyd repeated. He walked over to the side with his father's help and sat down. "You were ranting then became apoplectic. You ran into the training dummy. The mechanical ones, programmed to hit back if something made contact with them." Garmadon explained. "But are you okay? do you need water?" He continued. Lloyd shook his head and let out a simple: "Oh.". So that's what happened? Atleast it wasn't as bad as ransacking face first into a wooden pole. Though he would have already felt a bruise in the first place if that was the case. Even if Lloyd shook his head, Garmadon went to get some anyway.

It was then Lloyd remembered what he promised his father. He waited for him to return. When Garmadon did came back, Garmadon saw that he was back to thinking. "What are you thinking about?" Garmadon inquired. Lloyd hummed lightly and grabbed the glass of water being extended out just for him. "Just something I promised you when I was younger." Lloyd replied. He took a sip of water and placed it back down when Garmadon placed one of his four hands on Lloyd's shoulder. Lloyd was not used to this. He whipped around to face his father. "Y-you.." Garmadon was at a loss of words at first. "You said a lot of things when you were angry..is there anyway you could explain how this 'Harumi' person brought me back?" Garmadon asked him. The green ninja felt stunned. It was like his father forgot everything. Did something happen back at Borg's tower? Did he hit his head or something. This was way too good to be true but Lloyd smiled, showing that he accepted his request. He sat down on the deck and prepared for a small story time. Garmadon followed in his example. "Alright let's go way back to when I was a little kid." Lloyd started to explain. Garmadon nodded, listening closely.
~~~~~~
"So, I was a Sensei?" Garmadon asked, perplexed. The boy nodded for the thousandth time. "Yes you were. Along with Uncle Wu. He's younger brother." He reminded The man who apparently lost his memories. The shadow lord looked down at his four palms. The green ninja noticed that something may be wrong. "What's wrong?" Lloyd asked him, a frown appearing. There were a few inaudible mutters that escaped his lips. Lloyd couldn't comprehend it. But finally, a normal sounding question was brought into reality. "What... what...have I become...?" Garmadon gasped out, in pure remorse. He was being quiet due to all the shock. Was he really that much of a cold- blooded monster? " Hey.." Lloyd comforted him. " it's fine. Accidents happens for a reason. Valid or not. That's how we learn." Lloyd informed him. Garmadon looked away. "but i almost killed you." He retorted. But earned the same response from Lloyd. "Hey it's fine.I promise. I'm just happy to have you back I missed you.." Lloyd confessed. This time, his guard was completely lowered. He could finally express himself properly. He could call this man a dad again. But the next thing that happened surprised Lloyd. Garmadon pulled him closer to him, as if expecting a hug. " I've always watched you. From the departed realm, all the way to now. Oh my! You've grown since I saw you. You don't have a girly voice anymore." Garmadon teased. "Hey!" Lloyd exclaimed, his cheeks burning up. Garmadon giggled.
he pulled his son closer to him, Lloyd felt comfortable. "Um, Lloyd?" Garmadon asked a bit nervously. The green ninja looked at him. "Yes?" he vocalized. Garmadon began talking and Lloyd was surprised they were getting into this talk. "You know that girl Harumi?" He started. Lloyd nodded, not knowing where this was leading to. That's when he broke out the truth to his son and sighed in shame. "I-i uh...almost killed her." Garmadon admitted, he looked down and readied himself to take in the retorts. "What?" He gasped out. "It was after you did the radio broadcast. When she failed to bring you to me." Garmadon explained and paused. Lloyd kept listening despite the difficult topic. Was he finally gonna understand Harumi's irrationality from those days ago? "We had a little talk. After, she said she offered no excuse about failing. Something inside of me got to me and it made me want to destroy her. Using my powers, I lifted her up into the air and-". Lloyd gave an uneasy expression when Garmadon confirmed that he was gonna starting explaining what he did to her. He felt sorry for the girl. "-was cutting off her breathing circulation." Garmadon stopped and the green ninja demanded a break from that. He took some time to exhale. Trying to keep his breathing steady and restrained himself from busting into the white haired girl's room to pull her in a loving embrace. Never wanting to let go until she was alright. When those ugly strangulation marks were off her pale skin. After that mere thought, Garmadon asked if he could continue. Not really looking like he had a choice to refuse, the green ninja agreed. "My mind was telling me to stop but I couldn't. It wasn't until she said that she knew where you were. That's when i stopped. I grabbed her by the neck and asked her where you were. I got my responses and left her to rot on the ground." He finally finished and noticed Lloyd clenched up fists. He was slightly shaking, having to hear all that. He asked: " Is that why I saw the purple marks around Rumi's neck?". Apparently, Garmadon wasn't too familiar with the nickname. He ignored that thought first and he nodded, answering his question. "But what is a Rumi? " He asked his saved question. Lloyd let out a laugh. "it's a nickname Harumi told me to call her back when we were still allies." He gave a brief rundown. Garmadon still didn't understand. "What's a nickname?" He raised one of his hands up, as if Lloyd was his mentor. "It's what you call someone to symbolise your friendship or bond with them." Lloyd said. "Like how the ninja called me pint size, or green bean." He used those examples. "Oh." Garmadon replied dryly. "I remember when I was younger, we were at the volcano, you had such a fire in your eyes when you saw the serpentine, you had determination, it was amazing. But that was the day when I learned that I had to fight you to the death for Ninjago." Lloyd told him his expression turning into a sad one. Garmadon finally took the plunge and hugged him. His son didn't hesitate so he hugged back. "I'm also sorry about laughing at your mistake." Garmadon surprisingly apologized. Lloyd was stunned at this. "It's fine." He assured him. Though, Garmadon suddenly asked, "Do you have a crush on this Harumi girl?" Garmadon asked. The green ninja's cheeks went a bright red.
"Um, n-no.." he stuttered out. "yes you do!" Garmadon teased once again, noticing his shy response. " I do not!" He retorted, his cheeks were still red as Kai's gi. If the spiky-haired ninja was here, he would scolded Lloyd for stealing his "branding". The man raised his four arms. "Are you ticklish Lloyd?" he asked and chuckled. The boy gasped out and broke out of the hug. " I am not" he replied flustered. Garmadon let out a small laugh. He dropped the topic, much to Lloyd's relief. "I have noticed. You have gotten better with your swords." Garmadon unexpectedly mentioned. Lloyd answered: "I train a lot. It's basically all I do.". Though Garmadon snapped back. "Isn't that unhealthy?" Garmadon inquired. "You're starting to sound like Nya. Geez." Lloyd huffed and turned away. "But I'm serious! if you keep doing it, wouldn't it hurt you? I mean remember when you thought I was Harumi? I almost defeated you if it wasn't for your Spinjitzu. You have to take a break sometimes before you could overwork your body or maybe something even worse." His father advised. It was actually a considerate and reasonable advice. Lloyd thought about it. "Maybe I should." he quietly said. Garmadon nodded and patted his back. "Good. You can train. But just not so much that... well you already know." he told Lloyd with an unbothered look. "I understand." Lloyd told him. "I just want to be ready. I don't want to fail or let anyone down." He reminded himself. "With what?" Garmadon peered through his reminder but Lloyd continued despite not answering his question. "I'm supposed to be the great ninja, the ninja who is supposed to save everyone. But in that fight between us at the prison, I let my heart get in the way and look what happened! The sons of Garmadon took over the city it's all my fault." Lloyd looked away. "Look how weak I am. Pathetic and useless." Lloyd trembled. Crystal-like tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
"Green ninja it wasn't your fault that happened. Destiny is to blame and if I remember correctly you're the one to always stay positive and never give up. Is that the person you are now? Just because the enemy took over, I thought ninja never quit?" Garmadon tried his best to encourage him. He pulled Lloyd closer to him again. Despite the ninja breaking out of the hug minutes ago. The blonde let those words go through his head. He couldn't fight back to that, now could he? "You're right. So very right.."Lloyd hatefully admitted. There was a brief silence between him and his father until he spoke once again. "I'm not the type of person to give up. So why should I start?" Lloyd asked himself. A smile made its way to his lips. The ninja wiped his yearns from his black pupils. "As I won't ever give up that's not who I am at all. No way. No how." The green ninja pumped a fist up in the air to encourage himself once again. His father smiled, hearing the green ninja say positive things again. For a second, he thought that the boy might fall into rock bottom and just give everything up. All the battles fought, all his friends. Both glanced at and the control room where it displayed two screens. One of them showed the time. They both sat back down on the wooden flooring, that very moment, Lloyd started to fall but luckily landed on garmadon's chest. The man receiving an extra weight let out a laugh. "Looks like someone is tired." he cooed at Lloyd. The ninja shook his head and shut his eyes. "No I'm fine." Lloyd lied. It was obvious for he let out a small yawn.
The shadow lord smiled, cradling the other body rested on his chest. He stood up minutes later and then scoped his son into his lower arms. He could've just left him on the deck even though he was supposed to be "that evil.". He just couldn't bring himself to do it. Lloyd, though, complained once again: "I'm not tired." Lloyd shook in his arms. "Oh really? then why are you yawning?" he lifted a brow. The green ninja didn't look at his father. For he did have a point. "I'm no-ok, I guess I'm a little tired.." Lloyd grumpily admitted, starting to fall back asleep. His eyes peacefully fluttered shut. The father didn't question it and smiled even more at his tired baby, resting in his arms. He walked away into the sleeping corners. His thumb moved his bangs away from his face and couldn't help but giggle at his peaceful expression. The green ninja deserved more of this treatment for holding up the world for countless hours.
When garmadon was out of sight, eyes of different colours peered from the corner of the control room's walls. The others came out of hiding. " I hate to say it but that was adorable!" Nya chuckled. Despite being the strictest and untrusting person in the team so far, she couldn't deny that after Garmadon's lesson, her view on him slightly changed. But not completely. Everyone else that was with her smiled. "You know, I don't think I resurrected a full destroyer, alright." Harumi turned to everyone, with a relieved expression. If this was the old Harumi, the quiet one, she would have shown nothing but hatred and shame in herself. "Young harumi, I think you're right." Mistaké patted the white haired girl's back. Even if Nya wasn't at all trusting, she was among those who slightly began to trust garmadon. Which meant everyone in the resistance in general. For Garmadon and Lloyd, the man tucked his child in his bed. They were back in his room. After Lloyd was all tucked in, the shadow lord walked out of the room, respecting his privacy. But when Garmadon was going to walk out, the loving father muttered: "I love you son."
Hiya guys Jdizzle here, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I certainly had a fun time writing it, there was a lot of heartfelt moments in this chapter I thought that was adorable. I was laughing so hard about that leprechaun joke. But I can image him as a leprechaun to be perfectly honest. Also I wanted to say Lord Garmadon when he got brought back he did technically lose his memories, since Harumi wanted him to kill or destroy Lloyd back in the prison.Anyway I hoped you enjoyed the chapter and I will see you in the next chapter! Byeeeeeeeee.
