Mystogen's POV

Me, Team RWBY, Qrow, Oscar and Maria are standing outside of the gates of the Atlesian Military base on the island just not far off from Argus. Yang puts her hands on the bars of the gate to speak to the guards.

"Come on! You didn't even hear us out!" Yang says.

"Our orders are clear: The Mistral-Atlas border is closed!" Guard Nubuck one says.

"Please!" Guard Nubuck two says.

"Have a good day!"

"But--"

"A good day!!" Both say at the same time.

"Hey, if you don't wanna believe that I'm friends with Ironwood--" Qrow speaks.

"General Ironwood!" Both guards corrected.

"Yeah, yeah, General Ironwood. But here's the thing, we have Weiss Schnee here and we're just trying to get her home safely," I say, which she looks at me with reluctance.

The two guards look to each other before turning their attention back to the group, "Approach!"

Weiss shares a look with Blake, who just shrugs. Weiss then walks to the gate and the two guards step up and bend down to inspect her. After a moment, both guards stand straight back up.

"Very well!" Both guards say.

"You may speak with our commanding officer!" Guard Nubuck two says.

"We will fetch her at once!" Guard Nubuck one says.

The two turn around in sync, and start to chant "Hup hup hup" and "Atlas Atlas Atlas" as they run to get their superior. They are something else.

"They were... kind of--" Blake says.

"Super weird? Uh, yeah," Ruby finishes her sentence.

'What do you think about this Summer?'

"They aren't the strongest people I met but they are up there. Hopefully, this will go well," Summer says.

'Knowing our luck, something will happen'

Summer sighs, "That's that sad truth,"

"Hmm..." Maria ponders on something.

"What's wrong?" Oscar asks.

"Well, I... may know this commanding officer..." Maria says.

"I mean that good right?" I ask.

"If she's your friend, then maybe she'd be more willing to help us," Ruby says.

"I wouldn't exactly call us... 'friends'," She says.

"Acquaintances?" Weiss asks.

"Not quite,"

"Colleagues?" Blake guesses.

"Warmer,"

"Please don't be what I think it is," I say.

"Enemies?" Yang guesses.

"That's the one!"

"Wait, what?" Oscar asks.

"Oh, yes. I come through her about once every ten years to get my eyes checked up in Atlas. You bring outside cashews on one flight, and suddenly you're placed on the additional screening list for life!" Maria explains, I let out a sigh.

"You've gotta be kidding me..." Qrow says.

"Now, now, let's not give up hope yet. Maybe she's dead!" Maria says.

The gates suddenly open quickly up quickly, and the two odd guards return.

"Introducing!"

"Special operative!"

"Caroline Cordovin!" Both say.

A short-statured old lady who looks like around Maria's age was wearing the Atlesian officer uniform. She steps forward and glares at Maria.

'My god she's short,'

"Be nice," Summer says.

"Witch," Cordovin says.

"She-devil," Maria responds.

"Hm, I've seen you've chosen larger contraband to smuggle this time," Cordovin says.

"Oh, Cordo. You know they say time changes people, but I see you've still got that stick right up your--"

"PG!" I interrupted.

"H-Hello! Miss, uh, Cordovin. My name is Ruby Rose, and I was wondering if you would hear us out about--,"

"I've already heard what your other little freinds had to say, Miss Rose," Cordovin says and looks behind us, I look back to see she noticed Jaune, Nora, and Ren are there, "What are you doing back here?! I thought I told you to leave!"

Nora tries to charge forward, only to be held back by Ren and Jaune, "I told you we wouldn't rest until you let is through!"

Ren nervously smiles and waves, "Nice to see you again as well!"

"You civilians are clearly incapable of comprehending the importance of our mission here in Argus. So allow me to say this slowly, with smaller words: This base, that relay tower, the very safety of Argus are all gifts from the glorious Kingdom of Atlas!" Cordovin says, "And it is my duty to uphold them, as only I have the wit and tenacity for such a task,"

"Such wit!" Guard Nubuck one says.

"Such tenacity!" Guard Nubuck two says.

"Or maybe Atlas just wanted to get you as far from the kingdom as possible," Maria says.

Cordovin growls, " You're just like the rest of these Argus ingrates! This city wouldn't even be here if it weren't for our Atlesian ancestors, and what do we get in return? The entire world is ready to put a knife to our throats!"

'While being so short, she has a really short fuse as well,'

"Please, we know your kingdom had nothing to do with the Fall of Beacon. We were there," Ruby says.

"No one's happy about the Atlas borders or embargo, but I know General Ironwood is just worried. It's why we need to talk to--" Weiss says before being interrupted.

"The General is no coward! Atlas is strong. If all the kingdoms plan to make us their enemy, then so be it! Atlas will prevail!" Cordovin says.

"Atlas will prevail!" Both Nubuck Guards say.

"Do you guys seriously have to do that?" Yang says unimpressed.

Cordovin sighs, "If Miss Schnee has truly come to her senses and wishes to return to her family, then, of course, the Atlas military will escort her home. But the kingdom will not be responsible for her "friends" of... questionable character," She glances at Back.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Weiss says in a hostile tone.

"It means we're done here,"

The gates quickly close, leaving still outside once again.

"Oh yeah? Well, your face looks... like a big dumb boot!" Nora says.

"Way to show her, Nora..." Jaune says deadpan.

"Can't I just blow the gates open?" I ask.

"You can't do that," Ghost says, "We don't want to cause a panic,"

We look at Weiss.

"I don't..." Weiss says.

"Weiss. I told you we wouldn't leave your side for a second. We'll find a way to Atlas. Together," Ruby says as she places a hand on Weiss' shoulder.

Weiss smiles and nods back at Red. Qrow starts to walk away.

"So... where are we going now?" Ruby asks.

"Yeah, what's the plan?" Nora asks.

"The plan? The plan just got shut on our face three times over. I'm going to drink," Qrow says bitterly.

Ruby runs over to her uncle, "Uncle Qrow, I really think we should try and come up with something..." Qrow walks away before she could finish, "..together,"

"What's his problem? It's not your fault we can't go on," Jaune says.

"If he's gonna be a jerk then we'll just come up with something without him. I mean we've got Ozpin with us! He usually knows what to do," Nora says.

"Oh boy," I say rubbing the back of my neck.

"What is it?" Ren asks.

~Timeskip by flipping a hunter's knife while Summer watches~

We were back at Saphron's home and had told everything about we learned while separated. Jaune punches the wall, leaving a very large crack in it.

"Jaune! There is no need for that," I say as I leaned on the wall next to Ruby.

"Everything we did was for nothing!" Jaune says furiously.

"That's not true," Blake says.

"Really? Cuz It sure does sound like it," Nora says angerly.

"I, um..."

"If Salem can't be killed, then how are we supposed to win this?" Ren asks, everyone stayed silent. I wasn't sure what to say.

"Wow... great plan everyone!" Jaune says sarcastically.

"Look, none of this is great, we know. But we're not the bad guys here," Oscar says.

"Are we sure about that?" Jaune says.

"What?"

"He's in your head, isn't he? Did you already know about this?" Jaune says as he angerly walks over to Oscar.

"He didn't know any of it!" Weiss says.

Jaune grabs Oscar and shoves him against the wall, "How much longer can we even trust him?!"

"Jaune! Let him go!" I yell.

"How do we even know it's really him!? What if we have been talking to that liar this whole time!?" Jaune yells angerly.

"Jaune!" Ruby yells.

Ruby angerly glares at Jaune, who glances back at her. He looks back to Oscar, who is cowering in fear. Jaune lets go of Oscar with an apologetic look on his face. Jaune then goes upstairs. A door was heard opening and slamming shut. I let out a sigh.

"Is he... gonna be okay?" Yang asks.

"I don't know!" Nora says as she gets up and leaves.

"I think it would be best if we had some time to ourselves," Ren says and leaves and head upstairs as well.

The rest of us stood there silently.

"Maybe we could all use some space," Blake says.

I walk to the door, Ruby speaks, "Where you going,"

"I'm gonna walk around, I need to think of something," I say as I open the door and close it behind me.

~Timeskip by Mystogen flipping a green coin~

I sat there on the roof of a building looking down at the people below, doing their daily commute to wherever. I pulled out the flask I was given and unscrewed the cap taking a swig of the alcohol inside. What were we going to do now?

Summer sat next to me, "Have any ideas?"

"I got nothing, if only I had repaired the ship," I say.

"Well, there is no going back to it now," Ghost says.

"Well, I'm sure we'll find a way," Summer says.

"There is one herdal getting over, and that is the fact everyone is losing hope as of right now," I say taking another swig.

"They feel everything did was for nothing, which it's starting to look like that," Summer says with a small frown on her face.

"They think there is no point in doing this now because Salem can't be killed," I say, "It may be me but I consider that a poor excuse,"

"What makes you say that?"

"Everyday guardians were out there in the solar system fighting to what seems to be an endless battle with the enemies of humanity, but we always kept going because it was our job to protect humanity and the thing we came to know and love,"

"They are just children," Ghost says.

"That was thrown into a battle that they were not prepared to fight," I say, "But they need to think of a solution or humanity will be wiped off the face of Remnant. Heh, it sounds like I'm back at home,"

Summer laid her head on my arm, "What is your world like?"

"Where do I even start?"

(And there we are, sorry if it's a bit short. I don't have much to say but thank you for reading! goodbye and take care!)
