"Tony, Tony wake up! "a voice pulled him quickly out of sleep ,Tony sat up a quickly looking at his alarm clock searing a bit seeing it was only 8 in the morning he had went to bed around 6 due to working overtime on a new idea he had
He looked around to see who was waking him up after only two hours of sleep. On his right sat his wife Pepper who was wearing a worried look that she wore whenever he was out on an Avengers mission. "Pep, what's wrong? who's in a fight now? Do I have to go help? "He asked trying to hide a yawn behind his hand the best he could but failed.
Pepper shook her head softly gently taking his hand into hers looking down at them "no , nothing like that , But Tony i think something is wrong with Peter. "she said softly slowly raising her gaze to his.
That grabbed his attention waking him up fully, he sat up more frowning "What happened to Pete? Is he hurt." He asked ready to jump up and run to the young man.
"He's fine but he has gone bed early for the past couple night a hour before curfew, he stays out of the house all day long and was day dreaming at breakfast and his cheeks are flushed I think he has a fever ." She sighed her eyes full of worry. "I tried to talk to him but he only avoids my question and walked to his room.do you think his nightmares are back?"
Tony sighed softly , Peter had moved to the compound little over six months ago when his aunt May died in a car crash on her way to work the officers said she was killed on in packed by a armed vehicle that was trying to get away from the police ,when he got the call from Peter it was about three in the morning , he was about to scold the kid for being up past curfew on a school night but he felt the world stop listening the kid , no his kid sob over the phone telling him the bad news, it broke his heart once Pepper heard what happened there was no hesitation , Tony went to get Peter and Pepper called a lawyer to talk about adoption papers for peter.
Since that day he had both Pepper and Tony wrapped around his finger more Tony then Pepper but he wouldn't admit it ,when he was hurt or scared he would go to Tony after hours or sometimes days of holding it in, but if tony wasn't available he would talk to Pepper , it was a perfect family unit that worked for them , and Tony wouldn't change it for anything .
"Pep , he's a 15 year old he's probably having mood swings" he shrugged laying down on the bed closing his eyes
Pepper was silent , tony cracked on eye opened peeking at her , he winced when he saw her giving him that 'I'm serious and you better take this serious' look
Sighing softly, he slowly got out of the comfortable bed slowly standing up. He grabbed a dirty pair of jeans as well as a ACDC shirt, he put them on before turning back to Pepper giving her a serious look "I'll go check on him but I'm going back to bed if he seems fine" he mumbled tiredly yawning again. He stretched making his back pop and crack making him feel older then he really was
Pepper smiled going over to him kissing him gently on the lips as a thank you "thank you if you need anything I'll be in the kitchen making you some breakfast so you can eat it later." She smiled walking to the kitchen.
He smiled softly he started walked down the hall way slowly his smile was replaced with a frown as he watched Peter from a door , he was sat by the window in his room he was looking out watching Steve, Sam and Bucky returning from their jog ,Tony had a feeling something was wrong but he couldn't put a finger on it . slowly he walked over to Toby grabbing the desk chair to sit next to him "Hey kiddo, what's going on?" he asked
Peter jumped a bit he was too deep in thought to relies his spider sense going off saying someone was next to him or in the room. "Oh, Mister Stark, what brings you here into my room , this early?" he asked awkwardly looking at the clock seeing it was only 8 in the morning .
"just checking on you to see if you were okay, Pep said you have been going to bed early last few night and was day dreaming during the day , not to mention you aren't home all day, she said your face was flushed so she thinks you have a fever" he said softly watching the teen closely trying to see if Peter would lie or tell the truth
Peter's face went a bit pale before turning towards the window again. "yeah , I'm totally fine , just thinking about you know school and stuff ." he said shrugging a bit, his head shot towards his bed were his phone was.
he looked at Tony a bit nervous like he was hiding something , then his gaze went back to the phone before he could get up to grab it Tony had already jumped up grabbing it "Mister Stark ! this is against my human rights !" he said running over trying to take the phone .
Tony just smirked holding it above his head grinning "why what are you hiding ? A secret lover ?" He laughed teasingly but stopped when he saw terror in the kids eyes. "Pete , why do you look so panicky ?"
"N-no I am not hiding anything , just give it to me please "he begged trying to grab the phone again
Tony sighed giving him the phone knowing he needed Peter to stay calm to trust him before he was able to learn what he was hiding . "Fine here you go, i guess ill just go back to the Lab and work on some suits "he said making it sound like Peter hurt his feelings by not talking to him "I'll just let pep know that you are hiding a lover."
he took it and held it in his hands giving his Tony a horrified look . He gulped thinking he had hurt his feelings, he sighed sitting on the bed "Mister Stark come back " he replied hanging his head down in shame starting to feel guilt and worry bubble up into him. He turned his phone on and went on something before turning it off.
Tony smiled sadly to himself 'works every time' then hid it with a frown as he walked over to the bed sitting next to him putting a hand on his shoulder. "What's up Kiddo? Its not like you to be acting like this , especially not acting like your talkative self ."
He stayed quiet looking at the phone in his hands tony noticed a that they were slightly shaking , slowly he looking up at Tony "swear you won't tell Pepper. You know how she gets when she finds something out she just keeps asking questions and worrying" He gulped looking a afraid . "I really don't want to talk to her about this, last time I did tell her something she freaked out and I don't know if I can handle seeing her scared right now."
He nodded frowning now getting very worried as to what was wrong with him, even more when he said he didn't want to see pepper scared "yeah sure , now what's wrong ? You act as if your taking drugs or something " he raised a eye brow watching him closely.
He didn't say anything he just handed me the phone quickly looking away not daring to watch him as he looked he bounced his leg putting his face in his hands
Tony frowned at him slowly looking at the phone, he swiped his thumb right unlocking it reviling a new text message from Peters friend Ted, Ed? No Ned.
NED: "Peter are you 100% sure you want to go through with this, I mean what is Mister stark finds out you will not be allowed on Patrol at least till your 30! Maybe you should tell them I mean what's the worse they can do take the suit away? Make you clean the whole compound '
He looked at the photo surprised at the text message , his mind went a million miles a second trying to figure what the heck they were planning "What does Ned mean bye 'You should tell them'?" he asked in a low serious tone, he looking next to him at Peter
Peters shoulders shook slightly he whimpered softly shaking his head staying were he was not daring to move or speak not trusting his voice or temper
"Pete, what are you and Ned planning?" he asked again his tone raising slightly to show he needed an answer he tried to stay calm and not show how frustrated he was.
"she didn't deserve it." he whispered his tone shaky, he moved his hands away from his face and around his torso to hug himself
Tony frowned looking at him seriously "Who didn't Pete?" he asked not realizing who he was talking about
"May!." He suddenly shouted he turned around looking at tony Tears pouring down his cheeks "she didn't deserve to die Mister Stark, she was just going to work, to help people who were in need why did she have to die ." He sobbed clenching his fist shaking slightly
Tony opened his mouth to say something but was quickly interrupted by Peter standing up and pacing he was practically spilling his guts, he wasn't sure if it was on purpose or his temper got the better of him.
"I've never felt this before mister stark, I feel angry, hurt, sad and like I could go after them, me and Ned tracked it down, it too six months we almost have him tracked down." He said looking at Tony his eyes were red and puffy from crying, but he could see Guilt in his eyes as well as shame. "I don't want to hurt them, but I don't know what to do with these feeling I want them to go away." he cried harder slowly putting his head in his hands "Please help me Dad! i want to stop feeling like this"
Tony got up crossing the room to get to him, gently he pulled him into a tight hug one hand rubbing his back while the other gently went through his curls trying his best to sooth him . if he wasn't trying to keep Peter calm he could be over the moon that peter called him dad
"Peter , these feelings they don't go away easily , it might take years for the anger to go away but the hurt and being sad that will go away in time you just have to surround yourself with people you love and they love you "he said softly holding him tighter. "Is that why you come home early from Patrol?"
Peter hard his arms tightly around his mentor his head resting on his shoulder letting his tears fall "yeah, I'm scared I'll do something, i wanted to but now, I'm afraid I am disappointing you , pepper and Aunt May ." His sobs slowly turning into soft sniffles the more they talked .
Tony pulled them over to the bed , he sat down still holding Peter in his arms . "That's not what May would of want you to be thinking Kiddo . She would want you to leave this guy to the police , most importantly she would want you to be a kid , go to school , go to college like MIT , be safe as Spider man " he said softly running his hand through his curls "besides we are not disappointed in you Pete , how can we ? you keep doing things that make up prouder and prouder everyday."
He nodded slowly staying quit besides a few sniffles and hiccups . After a few minutes of silence he looking up at Tony"Mister stark ?"
He looked down and gave him a small smile "yeah kiddo?"
he sighed softly "I'm sorry for bothering you i didn't want to get you guys involved in my problems I'm sorry." he mumbled getting out of his arms turning to look away
"Peter you could never bother us , to be honest if you didn't bother talking to me id send Pepper in, and you know how she gets when she's worried." Tony smirked softly "if not Pepper I'm sure we could get Ted here."
Peter laughed a bit rubbing his cheeks trying to get the tears off "it's Ned mister stark ,yeah i don't think Pepper would take this well, to be honest I'm surprised you did too."he said looking at him."I figured you would get really mad and try to take the suit away."
Tony thought he had to choose his words carefully to avoid Peter anymore stress, if he was being honest he really did want to take the suit just to keep him safe out of harms way but he knew he couldn't do that. " did you go after the person?"
he shook his head "No, Ned's been talking me out of it "he replied
"Then i don't see why i should take it , you haven't gone after them so you have self control which is a good thing any hero needs,so how about you tell Ned that you changed your mind and let's go confuse Cap by watching Star trek ?" he said standing up stretching a bit .
peter smiled standing up "I really hope you mean Star wars because Ned and i just got Solo, i cant wait to watch it I'm sure its one that even you would like ." he said starting to ramble about it was about
Tony just listened to him ramble on and on , he secretly sent a message to Ned to send him all the information they collected as well as thank him for talking peter out of doing something stupid .
"Dad are you coming?" Peter asked him curiously
Tony put his phone away and smiled going over to peter putting a arm around his shoulders "Of course Kiddo wouldn't miss it for the world." he said walking to the living room ready to listen to his kid answer all the questions Cap had for him.
later that night Peter got word from Ned that the man that killed May Parker was caught and put in jail thanks to a anonymous tip about the location and other crimes of the criminal . all Peter could do was smile looking over at Tony who fell asleep half was through Star wars the last Jedi. "Thank you Mister Stark you are really the best" he thought before returning his attention to the screen.
