Derek asked about the mechanic's garage. Stiles made a joke and Derek popped the basketball. "Holy god," Stiles said. "Let's try that again," Derek said. "Or what you'll kill us," she stalled. "What the hell are you doing," Stiles asked. "Do it," she said. Derek raised an eyebrow being he'd never seen this side of her. "DO IT," she snapped. Erica and Stiles looked at her confused and frightened. Derek stepped closer. "Stop," Stiles said as Winnie took a step closer. He grabbed her wrist. "You don't have it in you to kill us. You still need us," she said chuckling.
"Stop," Stiles blurted and told them what they saw just before Skyler ran in. "God dammit," Winnie and Skyler jinxed. He saw Skyler and put together that she was stalling. Erica's eyes grew wide. They turned and saw Skyler collapse staring at the kanima. Stiles grabbed Winnie's hand pulling her back as she tried to run to her friend. It jumped up and leapt down throwing Erica. Winnie rushed with Stiles and Derek's neck was sliced. He fell in the pool and Stiles dropped his phone. Winnie rushed to the other pool to get it away from Stiles. "Winnie," he shouted. "Get Derek," she shouted diving into the regular pool as Stiles dove into the diving pool. She looked over and saw them submerge. They couldn't see it but they heard it. Derek and Stiles started to bicker.
"Maybe I should make a dash for the phone," Winnie said. "What the hell is with this reckless bullshit all of a sudden," Stiles demanded. "I don't think it'll hurt me," Winnie explained. Stiles started spewing half words and random noises unable to form a sentence with the amount of worry and confusion running through his head. "You saw what happened at the mechanic garage. I have the best chance out of all of us," she explained. "I'm getting it. I'm closer," Stiles insisted. "I'm going to run for the phone you come across and get Derek at the same time," Stiles said. "Okay," she said. They counted to three and pulled themselves out of the water. Winnie's path was blocked. She ran and slid past it. She screamed and jumped into the water just barely missing the tail. She swam down and carried Derek up to the surface. "What the hell do you eat," she asked him.
Stiles ran back into the pool to help Winnie and the call didn't go through. They watched it stalk around after Stiles's pissed off voicemail. "I think it can't swim," Stiles said. They couldn't keep Derek up much longer. "The- the boards. They have handles we can use for support," Winnie pointed out the kanima flung his phone into the pool. "NNOOOOO," he shouted, "I can't wait to kill this thing." They swam across the diving pool and grabbed onto the handles wheezing, but slipped under unable to get a firm grasp. Skyler got up and Scott made it in. "Where the hell have you been," she asked healing. They pulled Derek, Stiles, and Winnie out of the pool. The three pulled out were coughing out water rolled onto their sides. "Be careful of the tail," Skyler said and formed the armor. It leapt towards them and Scott threw it into the mirror he grabbed a large shard of glass to use as a knife. The kanima froze looking at its reflection. It hissed and bolted. "What the fuuuuck," Winnie asked sitting up. Winnie walked to the locker room with Skyler to change as the boys checked the bestiary.
Winnie groaned feeling how sore her muscles were getting. Tomorrow was going to be a bitch. They joined them and Winnie was braiding her hair as they got outside. "It's called a Kanima," Derek said. "You knew THE WHOLE TIME," Winnie snapped. "No," Derek said, "Only when it was confused by it's own reflection." "It didn't know what it was," Scott said. "Nope. No. I'm done. Winnie out. I am off the clock. I'm too tired for this shit," she said walking to the jeep and climbing in back. They looked at her and she just looked at her phone as she got a text from an excited Jackson. He had lifted his truck and there were 2 hours of missing footage which confirmed her findings. He wanted to test his strength so she told him to text Danny to make sure he didn't get himself killed. Derek explained the Kanima and Scott proposed everyone work together. He asked Scott if he trusted them and Scott snapped that no one trusted each other and that was the problem. Stiles dropped the girls off.
They got into school and Skyler winced sitting down in chem. She had hid the wounds from the kanima that didn't start healing until after she got home. Jackson grabbed Winnie's arm. "Be careful in chem today," Jackson said. "What," she asked. "Isaac's in classes again," he said. "What did you do," she demanded. "I didn't have a choice I'll explain later," Jackson said and walked in before her. Scott looked up wide eyed as Isaac sat next to Sky. She turned thinking it was Winnie and glared at Isaac. "Hi," he said sweetly. "I thought you were a felon," she hissed. Winnie walked in looking at Isaac next to Sky before looking at Scott, "What the fuck?" "The witness testimony was discarded as falsely reported," Isaac said. Winnie looked to Jackson glaring daggers. He glanced at her and turned away. Winnie sat with Danny tapping her fingers to her desk. "Why are you both pissed at Isaac," Danny asked. "Long story," Winnie muttered. "What isn't Danny asked. Stiles rushed in trying to explain what his dad just told him, but Scott pointed out that he already knew.
"I can't believe you," Skyler said to Isaac in a whisper. "At least I didn't try to set you on fire," he said. "You didn't have to grab me," she countered. "You didn't have to fight at all," Isaac said. She scoffed, "And let Derek ruin someone else's life? Some of us actually have morals," she snapped. "Are you okay," he asked. "You don't get to pretend to care," she said still angry. He grabbed her wrist gently. Her wall of rage faltered. "I'm not pretending," he said worried. Her heart shattered as she ripped her arm away looking to the textbook. "I'm fine," she said quietly. "I really hope those looks of concern are genuine and he's not just manipulating her," Winnie said.
Winnie saw the text from Stiles of what happened with Lydia. They think it might be her. She massaged her thighs feeling the knots. "You okay," Danny asked. She nodded. Harris started to speak. Harris threw a jab at Stiles. He put Erica at the first station and all the guys raised their hands except for Danny, Stiles, Scott and Isaac. "I didn't ask for volunteers. Put your hormonal little hands down. Start with... Mr. McCall," Harris said. He paired Skyler and Isaac, Stiles and Lydia and Allison and Winnie. Winnie saw Allison's jaw clench and saw Erica's hand on Scott's thigh. "If it makes you feel better she's not making a pass at him but instead digging her talons in," Winnie said. Allison offered a small smile.
"Lydia be careful around Isaac and Erica okay," Stiles pleaded. "Ooookay," she said confused. "We have to test her," Isaac whispered. "You have no proof it is her," Sky said. "You have no proof it isn't," he replied. "Isaac please don't do this," she pleaded, "If you still care about me at all please." "I'm sorry, it's too late," he apologized. They had to switch. Stiles ended up with Isaac, Scott rushed to Lydia, Allison ended up with Erica, and Winnie ended up with Skyler. "If you injure one little strawberry blonde hair on her head I'm going to skin you're little werewolf ass into a fur coat and give it to her as a birthday present," Stiles said. "Oh so it's Lydia you're hitting on at the moment. You should really make it clear who you're after before one of them gets hurt. You know I've never really been to one of Lydia's invite only parties now that you bring it up. Did ask her out once though," Isaac replied.
"Sounds like the beginning to a heart felt story. I'm gonna pass thanks" Stiles remarked as his hands started shaking he was so angry. "It was the first day of freshman year. I just got into a fight with Skyler and to try and move on from the crush I had on Sky," he said trailing off. "You thought everything was gonna be different in high school but she said no," Stiles summarized. Isaac scoffed nodding, "She even laughed. Told me to come back to school when the bike I rode had an engine not a chain." "Hm. Unrequited love's a bitch. Maybe you should write about it in english class," Stiles said rambling. "Nah I was thinking I'd channel it into killing her," Isaac said. Winnie froze as Skyler gripped the table. "Sky what's wrong," Winnie asked. "I'm fine," she replied and Isaac smiled realizing she still cared.
"What are you going to do to her," Allison asked. "Don't you think the better question is, what's she going to do to us," Erica countered. Allison looked to Lydia then to Scott. "I have to say," Erica added, "You guys are cute together, but you know I've always had this feeling like... I'm a little psychic. I just don't think you're going to last." "You think you can hurt me, by sliding you hand up his thigh," Allison asked. "Wouldn't you like it better if it were your thigh," Erica asked and Skyler turned seeing Allison hunch forwards as Erica sunk her claws in.
Winnie ended up with Erica, Allison was with Scott, Stiles sat with Skyler, and Lydia with Isaac. Stiles jumped up to run to the aid of the two most important girls in his life but Harris snapped at him. "At least Winnie's okay," Sky offered. Erica kept checking out Stiles and Winnie kept her cool. "Huh, every time I look at him your heartbeat rises," she muttered. "Why are you doing this," Winnie asked. "You know why we have to do this," she said. "Why can't we try to talk things out instead of always resorting to violence and danger," Winnie asked. "We don't have time to talk everything out," Erica said. Winnie groaned banging her head down. "You know I've also had the biggest crush on him," she started. "Good for you," Winnie replied, "He always puts Lydia first," Erica said. "Time. If you've catalyzed the chemicals correctly you should be looking at a crystal," Harris said and explained it was edible. "Guard dogs first," Winnie said offering Erica the crystal. Scott and Skyler saw the paralytic on Lydia's crystal. "LYDIA," Skyler snapped as she ate the crystal. Lydia looked back confused. Skyler looked around the room as she didn't collapse, "I almost forgot... I need a new tutor." Lydia nodded, "Sure." She locked eyes with Isaac and just shook her head. Winnie looked to Skyler and realized Lydia failed the test.
Scott pulled Allison and Stiles into the coach's room leaving Winnie and Skyler to protect Lydia. "I'm going to talk to Isaac and try to buy us some time," Skyler said. "What am I supposed to do," Winnie asked. "Stay with Lydia," Skyler ordered. Winnie groaned. She had no idea what to do, but she knew she'd regret it. She walked over. "Hey Lydia," Winnie said. "Hi," Lydia said. "I know I was a hardass at formal, but... I was considering putting some effort into how I look junior year since we'll be starting college applications and meeting with school representatives and I know how much you want to make me your new project, so would you pleas-," Lydia cut her off, "Oh thank god I though you'd never ask. We can start planning themes and things now," She started.
Skyler grabbed Isaac's coat pulling him into the girl's locker room. "Isaac please," she started, "I am literally begging you right now. Just for a little bit of time. I know it's not Lydia I can feel it. Please just give me some time to prove it." "Derek won't listen to me," he replied honestly. "Please. I need you to do SOMETHING," she snapped close to tears. "Please, I need you. I need your help," she begged desperately. An innocent person was going to die and she couldn't live with that on her conscience. He wiped away her tears. "I'll see what I can do," he said.
She nodded starting to get a grip on herself again. She looked up at him froze as he kissed her. She knew it could be Derek using him to get to her, but she didn't care. He pulled away and seemed to just grasp what happened. "I-I should go," he said. She nodded and watched him leave. She sat against the wall hugging her knees to her chest. Everything was slipping through her fingers. No one knew but her. Her aunt was laid off right before they found the cancer. She didn't know how they'd pay off the medical bills, car, house, phone and utilities. She was making irregular income with the commissions. Her aunt kept saying not to worry, but she already lost her parents and her uncle. How could she not worry?
