The hybrids scrambled across the room, getting ready for the surprise party.
Ferin was in the corner, fustratedly blowing into balloons.
Starlin waltzed in with a white cake, and began to light the candles on top with her fingertips.
Piflin and Delilah were screaming and tossing confetti around.
Azalea sprinted around, tossing streamers.
The twins finished it off by placing the "Happy Birthday " banner across the back wall.
Ferin gasped for air. "How much time do we have left?", he huffed.
"Merely seconds", Starlin replied.
A knock on the door was heard.
"VLORP", Kipper cussed loudly, which resulted in a punch in the arm from Skipper.
"Hide!", Azalea hissed, snatching up the youngest two hybrids and hiding behind a chair. The others followed in her footsteps.
A girl walked through the doorway.
"Um... Hello? I was told to come here?"
She looked around. "I could've sworn I heard someone-"
"LIZZY!"
Delilah ran out from her hiding spot and into the girl's arms.
"Delilah no!"
Liz stared in shock as the hybrids fell out of their hiding spot.
"What the-"
"Happy birthday", Ferin said dejectedly.
The hybrids all groaned, fearing their surprise was ruined.
But Liz grinned and walked towards the cake.
"Thanks guys!"
Kipper raised an eyebrow. "You like it?"
"Duh! It was really nice of you guys."
They grinned that signature DiNicolo toothy grin and ran to bombard Liz in a hug.
"We just wanted to show you how much you mean to us", Azalea said, hugging her tightly.
"And to the author", Starlin added with a small smile.
"Seriously, if it wasn't for you, our existence would have been terminated long ago", Kipper said.
"Awe, thanks you guys."
They let go of her and proceeded to happily cut the cake.
It was a happy time away from the stress of the actual plotline they existed in.
And they loved it.
