You guys might want to read the authors note if you want a sequel. :))))

Help centers aren't exactly the most pleasant places to be.

Everywhere I looked there was either pregnant teenagers, crying children or depressed people of all ages. And this is just the lobby, there's more in the living quarters.

I tapped my feet on the ground impatiently, the police guy left me here for the strangers that work here to help me out, but this place is so crowded I'm still waiting to go see Olive and Matilda.

Someone tapped my shoulder I sat there, causing me to turn to my left to see a familiar face looking at me.

"Brett?"

His face was covered in bruises, and his eyes looked defeated and tired. He just simply waved. "What are you doing here?" I asked, ignoring that I hate him because of that night.

"I got in a fight, and it's kind of serious, I'm here to 'talk through my problems' with a therapist." He said, using air quotations on the 'talk through my problems'.

"Oh, well I'm here because-"

"I know," he interrupted me. "I think the whole world knows what happened. It's the talk of the town and of course the media found out about Liam Payne and his ex nearly dying."

I shook my head at what he said, no one even knows what other awful things happened, they'd surely explode if they found out Hurlbutt actually killed herself and tried to kill us.

"So, how are you? I see you've got quite a few injuries." Brett asked. "Why should you care?" I scoffed. "Great, cocky Sarah is back," he retorted.

"I'm not cocky, I just don't see why you would care after you ditched me that night." I stated. "I guess you're right, but I am sorry." He said to me.

"Sarah Best?" The lady at the counter called for me, interrupting our conversation. (A/N: really regretting using my real name for this.)

"Right here," I waved to her and stood up, "good luck." I shrugged at Brett before walking to the front desk. "You too," he waved.

"Right this way, your sisters are waiting for you." The lady led me down a hallway into a little room with a bed and a couple chairs, and there was Olive and Matilda sitting there in silence.

"Sarah," they sighed and both ran towards me, crushing me in a hug. Because even though we have the most ridiculous, confusing relationship. We still love each other.

Plus a near death situation kind of changes you.

"You're alright, they wouldn't let us leave the building." Olive pulled away. "Why not?" I asked. "We kind of said some things while we were having crazy nervous breakdowns, and now the police know that it was a crime scene. So we're all witnesses and they've been asking us questions." Matilda replied sheepishly.

"Did you answer honestly?" I ask, they nod and sit back down, sighing heavily. "It's a complicated mess, and me and Liv are so suppose to be heading to college in a week," Matilda frowned.

"Don't worry, I bet they'll get us situated with money and what not, so you guys can go to college and I can figure out what I'm going to do. And if we tell them what happened we'll get out of here soon." I tried to cheer them up with the truth, but they just stayed silent.

"This place is boring, the cafeteria is depressing and their idea of a game room is pathetic." Olive sulked. Frowning, I rolled my eyes and looked out the window. It was a nice day, actually.

"Aren't we allowed outside?"

"If they trust you enough, but if you're a rebellious teen with no home then probably not." Matilda replied.

"I'm not rebellious," I snapped, "and what is this, prison?"

"Pretty much."

One of the workers stepped in the room and smiled at me, "the police are here to ask some questions about the accident, follow me."

She led me to a small room with a table and a police man. It had dark walls and no windows. Definitely not to my liking. "Hello miss Best, please, take a seat." The police man smiled when I entered.

Slowly, I sat across from him. His name tag said "Ben."

"Call me Mr. Ben if you want, I have some things to ask you today." He started.

"Your sisters were wailing about your mother hurting you all the time and setting the house on fire. We're all completely in the dark about what happened, but you know exactly how it went down. So if you would please explain to us, that would be nice." He said nicely, but the look in his eye told me that it wasn't a question, I had to tell him what happened.

"Well," I started, trying as hard as I could not to have a breakdown over this, "Miss.Hurlbutt has been mean to me ever since I was adopted."

"And why didn't you tell anyone?"

"I was scared, but throughout my while life, she treated me like a slave. She'd beat me and yell at me no matter what I did. And when she came home the other day, she was furious. I hadn't done what she wanted and I got home late. So she beat me, hard."

Tears were streaming down my face but I swept them away with my hand. "Then Liam showed up, and she shot him because I never told her I had a boyfriend, even though he's my ex. And then she got so upset she set the house on fire, and shot herself."

"Calm down, sweetie. It's alright," he tried to calm me down, I was shaking and breathing hard and I felt like I was going to puke.

"Why would she get that mad? She does drink I've heard, but that's outrageous." Mr. ben frowned.

And at that moment, I thought I'd rather throw up over everything that tell him the truth.

My heart began racing, and the room started spinning. I'm so stupid. "Well?" He asked again, watching me act like a spaz.

"I gave her pills, okay?!" I finally yelled, taking short breaths. "I was sick of her hurting me so I bought these pills that were supposed to calm her down but it backfired and they made her go crazy. It's my fault!" I cried, breaking into horrendous sobs.

His face stayed the same, motionless.

"I know it was wrong, and stupid, but I can't stand being hurt anymore! My heart was broken enough and then she just made it worse! She ruined my life you know! She told the adoption center I was mental so she could get paid more for that stupid adoption program! She adopted me just to beat me, did you know that?!" I screamed, his eyes widened and he reached for my hands to calm me down.

"She's a fake! She adopted me for money and to make me miserable! But it's too late now, I already killed her. Along with burning down our entire house!" I was now hysterical, I just couldn't take it anymore.

The worker rushed in and ran to me, grabbing me by the shoulders and looking into my eyes. "Sweetie, I need you to calm down for us, okay?"

I shakily nodded, trying to stop the river of tears. "Thank you for telling me that, is that all?" Mr.ben asked. "Y-yeah," I croaked as she took me out of the dark room, leading me to my own room that looked just like Olive and Matilda's.

"You need some rest, lay down." She helped me into my bed and put a large green blanket on me. "You don't have to treat me like a baby," I frowned.

"I'm not treating you like a baby, I'm treating you like a girl who can't handle tough situations." She replied.

"I can handle tough situations, after all, I've survived quite a few," I sneered at her, "sometimes, I just need to let it all out."

The lady nodded, and walked to the door, "I suppose, sometimes the heart can only handle so much."

And with that she closed the door, leaving me once again laying in a room that smells of bleach where I'm forced to sleep.

********

A long exasperated sigh escaped my mouth as I stared at the newspaper in front of me. On the cover was the scoop on the accident, about all the awful things Hurlbutt did and how me and the famous boy band member barely escaped death.

Not to mention all the magazines that are about to come out about me and Liam. The fandom is probably losing their poor minds right now.

Luckily I don't have to answer any more police questions, I already spilt it all. They can't punish Hurlbutt, but they did give me a long, hard lecture about how dangerous it can be to five so some pills this morning.

So here I am eating lunch in a large cafeteria full of depressed people as Olive and Matilda text their friends.

Somehow, they managed to escaped with their phones.

"Wait a minute," Olive paused, looking up at me and Matilda.

"Lucy's dead."

I stifled a laugh as they both gasped in horror. "You guys actually like that demon cat? Come on," I grinned at them. "She was family!" Matilda crossed her arms.

"Well it looks like the cat went back to his real home." I tried my best not to laugh too hard at that. They just rolled their eyes, "you know it's funny," I smiled at them. Finally, they gave in and started laughing with me.

"We're only laughing because you think it's funny." Olive grinned. "That's because it is!" I yelled.

"Girls, if one of you would like to make a phone call, now would be the time." One of the workers said to us from across the room, reminding me where I was and the situation I was in. Making me start to feel upset again. I quickly stood up and ran to the pay phone.

Yes, Olive and Matilda had phones, but no, I couldn't make a call because there's no reception here. They can barely get a text to send.

"Hello?" Niall's voice asked from the end of the line, "Niall, it's Sarah." I said. "Sarah! How are you?" Niall asked.

"I'm okay, yesterday was pretty rough, I had to explain everything and I sort of had a break down but that's settled now. Is Liam out of the hospital yet?"

"He gets out tomorrow afternoon, he can't wait to see you." Niall said happily. "I can't wait to see him too." I found myself smiling at the thought of finally getting to see Liam.

"So, when are they letting you get out?"

"Whenever I convince them I'm safe at your house. We still have to have sessions with the counselor, but I can live with you guys until I know what I'm going to do for college and such." I replied.

"What about your sisters?"

"I don't know," I sighed. "There's someone waiting in line to talk, I have to go. Tell the boys I said hi!" I told him. "Alright, just call us soon, you shouldn't have to be living in that dump."

I chuckled and hung up, walking back to our table.

"We have to talk to our counselor, come on," Matilda said to me as they got up. I followed them to the hallway with all the counselor offices.

"She said it's in the second room on the left." Olive said as she opened the door. "Girls, you're here! An older woman with grayish hair and glasses greeted us as we sat down in front of her desk.

"I know you're probably confused and worried about where to go. But I've gone through your files and have decided a smart decision for all three of you." She began going through her papers until she pulled out two.

"Olive and Matilda, you two are suppose to go to a college in Paris in less than a week. Well I already got you two ready to leave in two days, the college is letting you stay there early along with other students. I hope you don't mind."

We all looked at each other for a minute, "yeah, it's fine." Matilda nodded. "What about clothes and everything else? We kind of lost it all."

"About that," our counselor smiled, "your mother had a lot of money in savings that I'm guessing you guys didn't know about. So that's how you all will get by for the next few years, and I'm sure you will have jobs by then anyways. And insurance will pay for most."

"Thank you," I smiled, that felt like a huge weight being lifted off my shoulders. "Don't thank me, dear." She said kindly, "and about you, it seems as if you've gotten into two colleges."

My eyes widened and she continued.

"The college in New York, and the college here in town. I guess your acceptance letter must've gotten lost in the mail, because you got in." She said, noticing my look of surprise.

Or someone could've took the letter. Aka Hurlbutt.

"And I heard from a close friend of yours that I called to get information from that you are trying to rent an apartment with two of your friends."

"Yeah," I replied. "So if that's what you want to do, then you can get an apartment with them and go to college here. But for now, you're all stuck here unless someone could take you girls in." She finished.

"I have some friends that asked me to stay with them," I told her. "And we've got a friend who asked too," Matilda said.

"Well then call them and tell them you're moving in with them I guess, I'll let the front desk know you girls are leaving." She smiled.

"Is that all?" I asked. "You still have to come back for counseling once a week until I know for sure you're under control with money and everything, Sarah. And since you two will be gone, I suppose you'll be alright?" She raised an eyebrow at them, we all nodded.

"Great. Looks like you girls got it easy then." She stood up with us. I smiled at her, maybe things aren't as complicated as I thought.

*********

"See you soon guys," I hugged my two sisters in the help center parking lot. "Call me before you leave so I can come say a proper good bye, and don't buy too much stuff tomorrow." I said, since tomorrow's their last day to buy everything they need for college.

"Don't worry, and we'll call you," Matilda told me. The shiny black car honked again for them, they're staying with one of their rich friends I guess.

"Bye Sarah!" They called as I waved at them before they drove off. Then standing there alone, waiting for the boys to come get me. It's nine o'clock at night and they didn't want to wait till morning to pick me up.

I'm actually really surprised I got out of there that easily. I mean yeah, the paps are gonna pound me soon and I'm not sure of everything, but I can tell it's all going to be alright.

A wide smile spread across my face when the boys car pulled up, with Zayn driving Harry in the passengers seat and Niall and Louis in the back.

I hopped in with my two small bags and smiled at them. "Let's go home,"

Zayn drove off and I had Niall and Louis both asking me questions.

"Does your leg still have a limp?"

"When are all those bruises and scars going away?"

"What did the counselor say?"

"I'll answer all that later, I'm tired." I yawned and laid my head on Louis' shoulder. "Yeah guys, let her sleep." Harry told them.

"Shut up Harry," said Niall. "Tomorrow we'll go shopping to buy you new clothes and everything that got burned, and then we'll pick up Liam." Zayn told us.

"Sounds good, thanks guys," I closed my eyes, beginning to fall asleep.

They tried to tell me about how much fun I'll have while I stay with them and how I have to cook for them, but only one thing went through my mind.

Tomorrow, I'm seeing Liam.
