I've never fell in love
I've saved those feelings for you

Michael got to school, feeling like it was going to be a good day. He actually had time to eat breakfast, and his car was finally working again so he didn't have to take the bus.
He made his way down the hallway toward his locker and got his stuff out before heading to class. Michael didn't have time to text Luke before class so he didn't even know if the boy showed up.
After his first period class was over, Michael went to the math honors room where he knew Luke was. He was happy when he saw that the boy was was there, but stopped when he saw him talking to someone.
Michael stayed by the doorway, trying to stay out of the way of students that were coming and going. He watched as Luke smiled as the other boy talked to his best friend, leaving Michael wondering what they were talking about. It almost made him upset.
The older boy felt like he was going to throw up when he saw the unknown boy lean down and briefly press his lips to Luke's. His heart started pumping faster and he wondered if others could here it pumping inside his chest.
'Who is that? Why didn't Luke tell me about this stranger? Why did that dick kiss him?' Michael thought to himself as he quickly left the classroom without letting Luke know he was there.
Michael became very aware of his feelings that he was unable to hide about his best friend. Michael had never had a girlfriend or boyfriend, he was always saving those special feelings for his very special friend. His friend that had no clue about these feelings toward him.
Michael took advantage of his working car and signed himself out in the main lobby. He quickly left even though he knew he wouldn't be counted for a full day of school. It didn't matter to Michael. He knew he liked Luke, but why did this affect him so much?
Michael laid in his bed and thought about what he saw until he knew that school had been let out and Luke would be on his way over.
He sat up in his bed and played on his phone until his bedroom door opened and Luke walked himself in and sat on his bed.
"Hey, why weren't you at school today? David said he saw you after first period but you weren't there the rest of the day."
Michael could feel his heart stammer. David. That was the guy who kissed his crush.
"Didn't feel good." He said and continued to look on the blank screen of his phone.
Luke scoffed, "Bullshit. Just tell me."
"When did you meet David?" Luke furrowed his eyebrows and sat up against the headboard next to Michael.
"Um..about a week ago. I stayed after school for a test and he was in the same classroom as after we both finished our tests we started talking? Sorry I didn't tell you, it kind of slipped my mind."
It was Michael's turn to scoff. "You forgot to tell me that you met someone new and started dating them?"
"I'm sorry, Mike..you know I didn't mean to."
Michael unlocked his phone and looked at the messages between him and Luke, noticing there weren't that many the past week.
"Guess that's why we haven't texted in a while."
Luke shook his head, confused as to why Michael was acting like that. "Are you mad at me?"
"No."
The blond rolled his eyes, "You clearly are. I didn't do anything wrong, sorry I didn't tell you about David, it's still new."
"I don't care if it's new, we're best friends. I thought you would warn me about this stuff."
"Warn you?"
Michael paused and shook his head, "Nothing."
"You're being really pissy right now so I think I'm just gonna leave. Text me when you feel better, okay?"
"Yeah." Michael said quietly as he his his face in his phone, not looking up to see the upset look on Luke's face.
Michael couldn't help it once Luke closed his door. He started to cry, full on cry. He hadn't let it out in a while and he figured then would be the perfect time as ever. He was so frustrated with himself. Michael let the only person that ever mattered to him slip away.
He waited too long. Michael waited way too long to express his emotions.
The boy's breathing staggered as he cried alone in his room, wiping his eyes profusely to stop the tears that just kept coming. Michael didn't want to compete for Luke's attention. He wanted the boy all to himself, no matter how selfish it was.

A couple months went by, and Michael was heartbroken. Everyday, he had to watch Luke and his boyfriend stand close in the hallway, kissing, hugging, loving each other. However, he didn't know that that wasn't what it was like to Luke.
"You're..breaking up with me? I-I thought we were good together." Luke said quietly as he held onto his books tightly.
David sighed, "Some things just don't work out, okay? You're amazing, don't think you're not..it just wasn't meant to be, okay?"
Luke nodded sadly and walked slowly to his locker. He took his time as he got the books tat he would be taking home with him. When he was done he began waking down the less crowded hallway, spotting Michael at his locker as well. He stopped next to Michael and waited for the older boy to acknowledge him.
Michael looked to the side and gave Luke a soft smile, "Hey, Lukey."
Luke grinned and began walking with Michael to the main entrance. "Can you give me a ride home?" He asked quietly.
Michael was silent for a few seconds before answering. "I thought David drives to."
"Yeah, he did..but we're not together anymore." Luke trailed off.
Michael had to suppress the smile. He felt a weight lift off his shoulders. "I'm sorry to hear that."
Luke chuckled, "No you're not."
"I know."
The blond shook his head and opened Michael's car door. They drove to Panera after Michael suggested it, saying that he wanted the best mac and cheese in the world.
They sat down with their food, not really talking between bites. Until Michael cleared his throat and started pushing single pieces of macaroni around his plate.
"I'm sorry for how I acted when you guys were dating I just.." Michael sighed, "I really like you, Luke.
Michael was over hiding his feelings. He already lost Luke once, and he wasn't planning on doing it again. Michael needed to let Luke know how he felt.
"I know it's soon, you literally broke up thirty minutes ago..but I can't hide my feelings any longer. You're the most important person in my life. And you mean too much to me to let you go again."
Luke took Michael's hands in his, spinning the rings on the boy's fingers. "You mean a lot to me, Michael. I never really noticed what was right in front of me. You've always been there for me, no matter what. And I'm sorry I put you through so much pain. I know I did, even if you deny it. I'm sorry for not seeing what was there all along."
Michael gripped Luke's small hands tightly, never wanting to let go. "I like you so much, Luke." He whispered, so glad to finally say it.
"I like you too, Mike." Luke replied.
Luke gave Michael his leftover bread, he knew the older boy liked to wipe the bread in the extra cheese from the macaroni. After they were done eating, the pair walked out of Panera hand in hand, both of them loving the feeling of their fingers intertwined.
