The last thing I remembered before the crash was the girl's blasting their music through their head phones as Riley drove us to the diner. My friends and brothers were driving behind and in front of us. I was looking out the window as the leaves on the trees began changing their color. The sun was bright in the sky. Birds blew over head with a light breeze as the trees swayed side to side and leaves flew off landing on the ground. I remember seeing a red car driving straight towards my side and it was too late to react and the car slammed against us causing the car to flip and roll on the road before crushing against a tree. I remember hearing Riley's voice yelling mine and his sisters names but then everything went black.
Now here I am in an unknown place dressed in a pair of white cargo pants and a matching long sleeve shirt with no shoes on. The sky was much brighter than I remembered. The sun was far to high that it stung my eyes when I looked up. The sound a stream near by had me walking towards the woods. Where the hell am I?
Everything in this place was to bright.
"Do you think he'll remember us?" A voice asked as I got closer
"Don't know, but lets only hope so" another voice, this time it was a male
"He was only a child when we passed" the female said
"I'm sure he'll figure it out soon enough" the male said and before they could continue their conversation, I crossed the small path and froze in my tracks. Sitting on a tree trunk that had been cut down were two people I never though I'd I ever see again. My uncle and aunt.
"Hey champ," Uncle CJ, said with a smirk making my eyes sting
"Hola campion" Aunt Maria said with a smile on her face as tears filled her eyes, her voice choked up
"Uncle, Tia" I said running towards them and crushing them in a hug before breaking down their arms wrapping around me as they kissed my head
"I missed you two so much" I whispered looking up at them as we moved away and they both had the same sad smiles on their faces.
"And we miss you too, sweetie. But it's not your time just yet," Aunt Maria said wiping the tears away make me frown
"What do you mean?" I asked confused and she smiled
"You're in between heaven and earth bud. You were in a car accident" Uncle CJ said and I blinked
"I have to find Riley, and Isabelle and Arabella" I said and they smiled
"The girls are fine sweetie but Riley's with his grandparents." Auntie said and I nodded
"Still I need to fi-" my words were cut off as I felt my body falling and the sound of a beeping near my head alerted me that I was back on earth. No. I have to go back. I need to find Riley. I need to make sure he's okay.
"Back again?" Uncle CJ asked making me look up and I found myself back on the place I was before, before I was pulled back.
"I can't go back, not yet" I said and they sighed sharing looks before shaking their heads
"Stubborn as his father" Aunt Maria said looking at her husband who rolled his eyes
"Whatever, but you need to go back Alex, it's not time for you to be here yet," Uncle CJ said and I nodded. He looked so much like my dad it was crazy. They both have black hair and blue eyes. Though dad was a few years older than uncle CJ. Aunt Maria is a beautiful woman with midnight black hair and hazel brown eyes. She was the stark contrast of my uncle. She had a beautiful tan complexion while her husband had a light tan. It's been over five years since their tragic passing. They were involved in a car accident much like I was. A drunk driver had slammed into them, killing them instantly.
"I want to be here with you for a little bit longer" I said making them nod their heads before beckoning me over to where they had been sitting before I came interrupted.
"Did you know I was going to show up?" I asked and Aunt Maria nodded
"We've been watching and saw the accident. You were unconscious and there was no response from you and we knew you'd find your way to us and you did," she said. We sat and talked about anything and everything we could think of before I stood up and bid them a farewell as I felt my body being pulled.
"Take care of yourself Alex. And tell your siblings and parents we love and miss them," Aunt Maria said and I nodded. We exchanged hugs and kisses before I felt myself falling back again.
My eyes flew open as soon as I landed on my body, the heart monitor going haywire as it beeped rapidly
"Come on Alex, don't you dare give up" a familiar voice said as I felt my body jolt upwards. The sound of constant beeping near me alerted me to my surroundings,"Don't give up, Alex. Your family needs you. Your friends need you. My son needs you." I felt drops of water land on my face and I blinked my eyes open and saw a Doctor Cordelli above me as she pressed the defibrillators on my naked chest. The sound of a steady beep made her choke on a sob as she looked to the monitor.
"How is he?" I whispered gaining her attention
"Alex" she gasped in relief, tears still rolling down her cheeks and I wondered why she was crying when her son was in a worst condition then I was.
"How is he?" I repeated and she gave me a watery smile
"He's okay." She said and I nodded before closing my eyes and letting sleep take over. The constant beating my lullaby.

"Hey baby" a familiar voice whispered as fingers threaded through my hair,"I miss you so damn much"
I opened my eyes and glanced at Riley, who was sitting beside my bed on a wheelchair. He was covered in medical bandages with his right arm held in sling.
"It's going to be okay, Riley" I said but he still looked like his life was worthless and I furrowed my brows
"Please open your eyes baby, please" he whispered and I furrowed my brows before noticing that I was laying in the end asleep.
"My mom said that it'll be a while before you wake up again. She said you asked for me. I'm okay, well not really okay because you're not here with me. Our roles are reversed. Here I am sitting in this wheel chair talking to you and waiting for you to wake up like you did when I was here. Please open those pretty eyes so I can know you're okay" I felt my threat close at the sound of his voice. I walked over and stood at his side. I saw tears rolling down his face but he didn't care as he rested his head on our hands. His shoulder shaking as he cried.
"It's going to be okay, baby. I primrose you it's going to be okay," I murmured closing my eyes and let the tears fall. I've never seen nor ever heard Riley cry. So seeing him this way killed me.
"Open your eyes Alex," a voice said from behind me and saw my aunt and uncle standing in the corner and like a switch, my eyes blew open and a gasp left my lips making Riley look up with tear stained cheeks and red and puffy eyes from crying, a silent gasp left his lips before they were crushing mine
"Fuck" he cried resting his forehead against mine as our tears mingled,"Fuck I thought I lost you"
I just stared at him saying nothing as there was a tube down my throat. He only smiled with tears in his eyes. The door slammed open and Riley looked over to see doctor Cordelli make her way to towards the bed and looked down at me as Riley moved to be at my left side.
"Welcome back, Alex" she said with a soft and gentle voice, nurses checking the monitors and the doctor checking my vitals,"How are you feeling?" I tapped my throat and she had an understanding look on her face
"We're going to go ahead and take this off, okay? And when I tell you, I need you to breath through you let nose" she said and I nodded, and did what she said wincing as the plastic tub crawled up my throat before it was out. I swallowed wincing. It felt raw.
"Wa-water" I whispered and a nurse handed me a cup with water that I downed in seconds exhaling as the ache soothed away
"How you feeling?" Doctor Cordelli repeated
"Like I was hit by a train" I replied and she nodded
"It's understandable. You were in a car accident" she said
"How long have I been out for?" I asked and her smile dropped and I looked over to Riley who had the same expression
"Four months, well it would have been four months tomorrow" Riley replied and I swallowed the knot in my throat. Four months. I can't believe I was out for four months.
"Did you ever find out who was the person who rammed into us was?" I asked changing the subject because I didn't want to think about what I missed and he nodded
"Yeah. It was Justin" he answered and how did that not surprise me? He's been sending me threats ever since we met back in November during the football game.
"And did he get arrested?" I asked, and distinctively saw his mom leave the room with the nurses
"Yeah, he was arrested a day after the accident. He talked about it with his friend who was the one who turned him in" he said and I nodded but something tells me that's not the whole story
"What happened after that?" I asked and he ran his uninjured hand through his hair sighing
"He was found hanging in his jail cell the same night he was arrested" he answered and I blinked
"What?" I asked shocked
"He fucking committed suicide so he didn't have to face the justice system. He was due for court the day after the arrest, but now he's dead I don't think there'll a trial" he said and I sighed resting my dad back in the pillows.
I'm speechless. He killed himself just to scape getting sentenced for attempted murder.
"It's something he'd do. He always threatened in killing himself if he was ever arrested" Riley said with a dark chuckle,"I wish I had gotten my hands him first and killed him myself"
"What's done is done, Riley, we can't keep thinking about what he did. Like you said before, we need to put this behind us even if it'll take us time. Justin got his sentence. Live in hell" I said cupping his face with a hand and he closed his eyes before leaning down and resting his forehead against mine and I rubbed our noses together in an Eskimo kiss make him smile
"I really really missed you," he murmured
"I know, and I'm sorry for not coming back sooner" I whispered but he shook his head
"Don't be. You needed your time to heal. You took the most of the impact" he said looking at me with a soft look in his eyes, I was about to say something when the door flew open and the familiar sound of my parents, siblings and friends taking over each other filled the room making Riley chuckle as he moved back so I can be reunited with my loved ones even if they were being obnoxious as ever.
"Welcome to the world of the living" Ryder said and I rolled my eyes
"Fuck off" I mumbled making him chuckle
They went back to talking over each other make me roll my eyes
"One at a damn time" Dad said seeing my expression cutting everyone off mid-ramble.
"Thanks Dad" I mumbled and he nodded, so after they all asked how I was doing or what I thought about Justin commuting suicide, we lapsed into something less appealing and more appealing which was the last football game of the season
"We recorded the whole thing, Alex" Ryder said noticing my mood change and I smiled, he always found a way to cheer me up
"I'm proud of you guys. I knew you would end up winning" I said looking at the twins who grinned
"We're just happy you're okay" Casey said. They all stayed for a little longer before they were instructed by a nurse that visiting hours were over and to come back tomorrow as I needed to rest. We said our goodnights with them all kissing or patting my foot on the way out.
"You'll be moved to recovery tomorrow morning, so why don you get some rest?" Riley asked as he wheeled himself to my side.
"What about you? Why don't you go to your room and get some rest?"
"I'm already in my room" he replied and I frowned making him smile
"I asked to be moved here so I cooed be close to you in case you woke up" he explained and I nodded
"You're the best you know?" I murmurs as sleep began to drag me away
"And only for the best" he retorted making em chuckle before wincing,"are you okay?"
The way his eyes grew wide in panic made my heart swell in my chest. He was honestly the best thing to ever happen to me.
"I'm okay. I just think that I need to lay off laughing for a bit" I murmured before yawning
"Get some sleep, I'll be here when you wake up" he whispers running his fingers through my hair
"Love you" I mumbled as my eyes began to close
"Love you too, baby"
an here's a new chapter, you saw Riley's POV on the previous chapter about them being in a car accident and I and to fast forward on Alex's POV but you'll be seeing everything that happened while he was in coma through Riley's eyes in the next update.
