Hunter's POV
I've honestly never seen boss this worried. But how could I blame him? It is a possibility that the past might've been repeating itself, but for what cause?
Was it because they were all similar to each other? The connection? What is it that makes them all connected towards one another? Blood lines? Or maybe perhaps the situation.?
I simply don't get it. I mean, almost every man would fall for her. I did once, but I lost her out of sight. Actually, I wasn't even suppose say anything, but it wouldn't hurt to think. I'm glad to see her with her mate and all. I wasn't too head over heals for her, she's unique in a SEVERAL ways which makes her very rare..
"Hunter." A voice had interrupted my way of thinking. I looked up looking completely dumb founded.
"Huh?"
"It was your turn. We've been calling your name for about 10 minutes there bud." Gabriel had said as I looked down at my cards.
I sighed, "eh I'm out. I'll fold. I'll be outside when you or the boss needs me." I said as I set down my cards and walked out of the living room.
I love how when you go outside, you can already hear the ocean hitting the surface of the sand or rocks. The fresh cold breeze on a sunny day makes a perfect weather. Children's laughter had filled my ears as I looked to see Dean and Angel playing in the sand.
My eyes trailed over to Jay near the ocean. The wind blowing her hair, her face focused and lost into the distance.
'I wonder what she has in mind?'
'Then you should go and talk to her.' My wolf, Brian had suggested.
'Don't you think it might be a bad idea? I mean she probably has a lot in mind.'
'Look, it's not bad to talk to her even if you have something bottled up inside. Just try and talk to her. You rarely talk that much to her ever since we got here.'
'I don't know Bri.. It's just strange. After what Eli said, I feel the urge to tell her, but I know it won't be good. Who knows? I might be just telling her some crap that won't even come true?'
'Don't Hunt. The girl has been through too much to deal with another problem. It seems to me that she still doesn't know much when it comes to controlling her own thoughts and self to prevent her from leaving.'
'I get that. I really do, but Brian. You can't tell me that you don't feel bad with knowing this huge information that she's part of.'
'It's a big secret to keep, yes. But you can't. Not yet at least. We came here to have a good tome, not ruin it. Besides? I don't think neither of us could handle seeing her run off again. She was kidnapped and kept to be experimented by those sick bastards. I don't want to risk her getting hurt.' He growled and spoke almost so bitter during the last sentences he's stated.
'Do you think I want her going into that phase again? Why are you being possessive anyways? She's not your mate. She clearly has one and second of all, she's already dated one dude here who's clearly not over her.' I argued.
'Oh like we aren't? We're in the exact same position as Steven. She just doesn't simply know what happened that night when we saved her-'
'Don't Brian. We swore to never speak of that moment ever again.' I said in a commanding tone.
He growls, 'whatever. I don't have to tell you because you think of it everyday damn day and I'm getting sick of it. It hurts to think that we had her once. I don't even have to say it for you to remember it. You just simply think of it whenever she's around. Just go talk to her before it's too late to even have a conversation with her.'
With that, he has gone. Blocking me from his existence. I sighed in frustration, but I gave a glance again towards her and decided to let my feet drag me to Jay. I slowly creeped up on her until I reached her side.
"Hey Jay." I greeted as she turned her head to face me.
The sun that reflected its rays on the water had traced towards Jay like a mirror. The sun light was reflecting her face that looked angelic and glowing. She looked a bit different in a way that I couldn't even describe..
Her glowing hair that looked golden, those light eyes that seems like a sparkling caramel, her soft skin and .. Her baby face. The reflection of the lighting that gives her face such a lively image..
She was a Goddess..
"Hunt?" Her voice had echoed through my head softly.
"Huh?" I said back softly as she laughed.
"You okay?" She questioned while her hand is waving straight at my face.
I held her hand that made it still. I looked at her with my goofy smile, "concern much?"
She took her hand away, "don't be so cocky. I was asking, I'm not that concern about you."
"Well then." I said in a sassy tone as she laughed.
"I'm kidding, but really though. What is it?" She questioned and crossed her arms.
"Nothing really. I just saw you getting lost in the ocean so I figured on checking on you. To see if you were alright."
"Oh. Well, thank you, but I'm okay. I love the ocean so I just sort of wanna keep it in mind to remember."
I nodded my head slowly and looked at the ocean, "well it is a nice view?" I complimented as I looked at her.
She was looking at the ocean with care. Her eyes showed emotions that wasn't really shown from the first day I've met her. Even from those days I've been with her. The tough act hasn't been showing as much as it was in the beginning, but usually she has some of her tough features on.
Now it's just gone. For once I saw her relaxed. Looking at the ocean, it seems to me that she's pouring all of the emotions she has in the ocean. It was new. She must really love the ocean? Or was there more story in it?
"Why do you look at the ocean in such a way that it seems like you're speaking to it?" I questioned looking at her.
"Because I like to have my moments with the ocean? It's been awhile since I've seen the ocean. It's nice to come back to it."
"Huh. I guess it is." I frowned a bit, "why don't you swim? You haven't been out for the whole trip. Were you sick or something?"
She stiffened up and then took a glance at me, but went back to the ocean. Not saying a word.
The wind had blown itself towards me as I smelled something odd? But quickly, I knew. I nodded my head slowly and leaned over her with a smirk.
"I see. So Kristoffer finally had the fun!" I laughed.
"Shut up.." She said in a hush voice as her cheeks began to turn red.
"So you've been absent because of that?" I raised an eyebrow and then remembered, "wait.. You were a virgin.."
She looked at me, "can we not talk about this??" She said with a little laugh.
"No way.. Are you still sore?" I questioned again except this time, it's in a teasing voice.
Her eyes were narrowed and kept her deathly stare at me.
"You are!" I yelled while she punched my arm that made me laugh even more.
Her face was like a tomato except it's a darker shade of red. She was so red that it reached up her ears! What a classic.
It was fun until someone had cleared their throat.
"Uh hey?" A not so deep like voice had said as he caught my attention.
I turned my head around to see that same kid again. Steven. I looked at Jay who just looked at him with a small smile. I felt strange with both of them being here, not saying anything at all. That seems to be my cue.
"I'll leave you guys in a bit I suppose." I chuckled and scratched the back of my neck as they nodded.
I smiled and patted Steven's shoulder as I left. But when I did, my ears had their attention towards their conversation. Yes, I was eavesdropping, but they won't know that.
"Hey Steven. Long time no chat." Jay had said as their voices were a bit faded due to the distance I was in, but I could still hear them clearly.
"Hey.. Yeah it's been awhile. You've been inside the house for a long while so I didn't really have the time to talk to you." Steven replied.
"Uncle Hunter!"
My attention had then turned towards Angel who was sitting next to my sleepyhead of a brother.
"Oh hi there kids. I'll sit next to you two okay? Thank you." I said quickly as I sat down on the sand with them and continued to listen.
Thankfully they didn't bother to ask much of anything.
"You okay?" I heard Jay question.
'Have I missed much already?' I questioned myself feeling a bit lost.
"Yeah. Yeah, it's just that.." he trailed off.
I looked at them and saw Steven looking at her still while she waited. She was avoiding a bit of his gaze. Her eyes travels towards the ocean and at him.
"I've noticed you've been looking at the ocean? Seemed like you were having troubles.." he said finally.
"Hmm not really. I find it quite funny how you and Hunter had the exact same conversation topic when he talked to me. Asking if I was okay, why I look like I'm in deep thought, and all that. But really, I'm alright. I just love the ocean you know? I just wanna remember the way it feels, remember the details, the sound, the smell, and how relaxing and refreshing it feels." I chuckled at her comment.
She was always a sentimental person.
He chuckled, "well everyone cares about you. But I see."
Jay's gaze began to focus more onto the ocean than to Steven. But Steven's gaze focused on her.. Not only everyone cared for her, but they also learned how to love her. No matter if it was a family sort of thing, friendship.. Maybe even more. They just seem to learn how to love a Huntress. A hybrid. I would know..
"Oh I know!" Steven exclaimed as he snapped his fingers.
He started fiddling around his pants pocket and took out a small camera. He took a picture of her out of the blue as some sort of paper came out of the side. Jay turned her head towards him as she looked at his right hand they held a picture, letting the air kiss it dry.
After he was finished fanning, he then looked at it with a smile. He turned the paper over towards her and she laughed a bit. She tried taking the picture, but couldn't and instead she took the camera and took a picture of him.
A flash had snapped and a picture I suppose had printed. She took the picture before Steven could even steal it back. One look at the photo, she laughed and showed it to me. He shook his head with a smile and Jay began to hide the picture by putting it on my back pocket.
"Thanks for that awfully weird picture. But I'm keeping your picture." Steven chuckled as Jay laughed.
"Whatever skippy." Jay replied with a punch on the arm.
Steven smiled and looked into the ocean as he snapped a picture of it. Once the picture had printed one last time, he gave it to Jay. She seemed so happy when she looked at it closely.
"There. You can see it and you have a souvenir picture to bring back home."
Steven said as she smiled even wider.
"Thank you so much for that.." She whispered, "oh here." She added as she took out some piece of small white looking figure.
"A seashell necklace?" Steven said surprised.
Jay put it on his hands while her hand stayed on his, both gripping on the necklace.
"That's yours to keep. It's a thank you present for bring my friend and a return present for the picture." She smiled and let go of his hand that made him look at the necklace freely now.
"It looks awesome.. You made it?"
"Nope. I picked the shell and made someone customize it. By that I mean Angel. She made many of those during those times I was in my bedroom resting."
"But angel made this for you. Why give it away?"
"It's not bad to share with others. I've chosen mine and that's locked inside some other important things I love to save. This was my second favorite, but I'd love for you to have that."
He smiled as he looked at her and down at the shell necklace, "thank you so much Jay.."
Before she could even reply, he had hugged her quickly and she stood still for a split moment before proceeding to give a hug back.
"You're very welcome Steven."
It wasn't a very long hug, but I sure felt envious. He's a very lucky guy to at least have her once, but Kristoffer is the most luckiest out of all of us guys because he could spend his entire life with her..
I sighed and watched as they departed. Steven had looked at me with a straight face and I smiled, saluting him with my index and middle finger together. He nodded in response and to me, that was a sign that I can go back to her.
I said bye to the kids as I jogged towards Jay. She seemed better, the same, but at least she smiled?
"Hi again. It's good to know you two are good?" I smiled.
"Of course we are. We just had some complications, but it's nothing serious I suppose." She shrugged and looked down to take out a piece of cubed paper and showed it to me.
The picture she had taken of Steven with his eyes looking right through you with his smile and his hand held a picture that he was hugging.
"This looked like a perfect picture for a messy off guard type? Damn he's photogenic." I raised an eyebrow at the picture while Jay laughed.
"I know! I said the same thing. He caught me just looking at the ocean. It was a neat picture too!" She explained.
"He's probably been doing photography for a long time then?"
"I doubt. He could've told me before about it, but I suppose not that?" She shrugged.
"I suppose." Was all I said.
We then just stood there, watching the sun and the waves collide as they create this beautiful art like view. I always loved the view of something so breathtaking. That's probably I liked her on the beginning. Considering I've met her at a bar, but she did look like an angel when she slept. Even if she looked drunk.
But this makes me question myself? How did the pst ever start with Eli??
When will it happen?
