The all-star weekend was over and we went back to Oklahoma. Blake wanted to talk about us but I didn’t. I knew it was just a matter of time until he hurt me again. I was at the park with my friend Lisa, just talking about the whole weekend drama.
“What do you think Dustin will do?” she asks
“I don’t know and I don’t want to find out”
“Did you sleep with him?”
“Lisa!” I didn’t want to tell her I did, I know she’s my friend but I didn’t want to tell anyone. Someone called me from behind and when I turn around it was Blake.
“Blake, what are you doing here?”
“Can we talk?”
“I’ll go wait for you by the bench” Lisa said and she leaves
“What do you wanna talk about?”
“Us”
“Blake…”
“Come on Gaia, you know there’s something between us”
“Just because we slept together doesn’t mean there were sparks”
“It was more than that”
“Sarah!” I call for a red hair girl playing on the swings. She begins to run to me and Blake just stares at her. I tell her to go with Lisa by the bench.
“How old is she?” Blake asks
“What? I don’t know, five? Why?”
“Is she… mine?”
I try to hold my laughter but it blurted out “I’m sorry, um, no”
“She’s five… Last time we slept together was five years ago or so”
“She’s not my daughter Blake. I mean, maybe she’s yours, right? Who knows?”
“You’re gonna start with that?”
“Just go back to L.A. Blake… It was your dream wasn’t it?” I say walking away.
“I’m not going back without you”
“Well, you’re gonna have to… I’m moving to New York”
“What?! When?”
“In a month”
“Hey!” we hear someone yell
“Oh, shit” I whisper… it was Dustin, charging at Blake.
“You piece of shit! I dare you to touch her again” he tells Blake
“Oh, yeah? What are you gonna do about it?”
“Blake! Dustin, calm down”
“There’s nothing going on between you huh? I’m gonna kill him”
“I’d like to see you try”
“All right, that’s enough both of you!”
“What are you gonna do, you gonna go back to him Gaia?” Blake asks
“No”
“Yes, you are” Dustin says
“No, I’m not”
“Told ya” Blake mocks him
“Enough! Just stop! I’m not going with either of you!” I yell at them and I storm out of there.
*I went home to start some new designs but I decide to take a shower first. Before I could get in I hear the doorbell, so I put on a bathrobe and go downstairs.
“Blake?”
“Hey, I’m sorry about the whole park thing” he apologizes walking inside the house. “Is there any way I can change your mind?”
“Blake what we had… back then, it was great, but it was high school. We’re grown now---”
“Exactly, which is why it’ll be different… we’re not kids anymore”
“What happened between us… it was a long time ago. I told you I forgave you, but I really didn’t… it hurts, and I don’t want to get my heart broken like that again”
“I won’t break it again, I swear”
“I’m afraid to love you” I whisper
He gets closer to me and cups my face “I don’t want to hurt you… I just want to love you” he whispers back.
“Why now?”
“What?”
“Why come back after me now?”
“I wanted to get my life straight first”
I shake my head “You weren’t gonna come back for me” my eyes began to water.
“Yes, I was”
“No you weren’t”
“Gaia, if I wasn’t going to do it, I wouldn’t be here right now. You were my first everything, you loved me when I had nothing, you were there when people said I wasn’t gonna make it… I love you and I should’ve NEVER let you go… please just give me one more chance” I don’t say anything, I was thinking about what would happen if I did go back to him… “You can open your store in L.A.”
“How’d you know about that?”
“Your mom told me”
“My mom… she did always like you”
“See? That’s good”
“Until you left me, then she wanted to hunt you down”
“Oh, well…”
I chuckle a little by his reaction, then I get serious again “All I wanted was for you to be happy”
“I know, I’m sorry… and about Dustin---”
“You need to stop, I’m not some prize that needs to be won”
“I know” he hugs me and kisses the top of my head. “Are you naked under there?”
“Blake!”
“I’m kidding, who was the girl at the park?”
“My cousin’s daughter… so relax, she’s not yours”
“Kay, will you think about it?”
“Maybe…”
“Well, that’s better than a no so I’ll take it”

One week later:
I hadn’t yet decided on Blake’s offer, I knew he didn’t want to hurt me again but I was too scared. It’s been a long time since I’ve entered twitter but something told me to log on. When I did, there were a lot of people asking: What would Blake had done different? What was his mistake? What would he go back in time to change? So I entered the link where all the comments were.
It was an interview, congratulating him on everything that he’s accomplished in such a young age and asking him about how it was growing up in Oklahoma. At the end of the interview the reporter asked him that if he could go back, if he would change anything, to which he responded:
“Not in my career, but I would definitely go back to not do something I did that I regret to this day”
Reporter: “Oh, what would you change?”
“I really don’t want to get into detail, but that person know what I’m talking about”
Reporter: “So it’s more of a personal thing, we’ll leave it at that, all right, thanks Blake for joining us, hope to see you soon”
“Thanks for having me”

After that, I call him and ask him to come here… my heart skipped a beat when I heard that. He arrives and I open the door.
“Everything okay?” he asks
“Did you mean it?”
“Mean what?” he asked and I played the video. When it’s over I look at him with teary eyes, he nods “Every word” his voice cracked a little.
“Say I consider you request---”
“I will make you the happiest woman in the world”
“How?”
“I’ll buy you everything you want---”
“See, you’re already off to a bad start”
“Why?”
“I don’t want you to buy me stuff Blake… If I go with you, I don’t want your money, I want your love”
“I’ll give you all of it, every piece of my heart, I’ll give it to you… So what do you say? You coming with me?"
I guess this is it, I have to give him an answer now… I just hope I give the right one.
