A/N: OH HEY. So, we got to meet the lovely, bubbly and slightly hyper Véar! Yes, she is of my own thoughts and creation. Though Heimdall has one sister (Norse Mythology calls Sif his sister, weird but okay) I decided to change that and create my own OC in the beautiful person of Véar as potrayed by Lupita Nyong'o! I hope to draw a photo (I can't draw but oh well?) to show her costume design! And have fun with the song... I threw it in last minute, and yes I picked the voice for a reason.. :'(

A few things happen that are important to this story in this chapter, enjoy a bit more Loki my loves as he becomes more and more one of our main characters!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Her hands shook as she took the trays of food through the doors that once held her prisoner. Theoric had to attend to some matters but said he would be back before he left with the rest of the company on their next mission. She would have to get used to doing this for lunch and dinner meals on her own sooner or later as Theoric could not always be there, so she thought it best to start it off alone and not get used to the company.

The trays were interesting; there were only two of them. Under the metal covering, there was some sort of magic that would multiple the trays of food slowly when opened with only enough food for each of the prisoners. So every time a guard reached towards the tray top and opened it, a smaller tray that contained the food was there. He would close it and the next would appear, all she had to do was stand there and walk with them as the guards went to each cell to delieve the food.

Slowly, each of the prisoners had a meal except one, Loki. The mischievous god was doing nothing, just thumbing through one of his books as normal. As one of the guards removed the final tray, he started for the door when the man cloaked in green and gold put his hand up as if to dismiss him.

“No, I want her to bring it to me.”

He looked up in the same instant he pointed to Sigyn, a smirk played upon perfect lips. The guards hesitated, waiting for Sigyn to exchange the now empty magical tray with the tray that held the food. Her hands were shaking, the cup knocking against the edge of the tray while she walked towards the stairs to his cell. Why was she so frightened? Perhaps it was her dreams of him she thought.

The door opened and closed quickly behind her when she entered the cell. The once prince of Asgard had not moved from his spot in his chair with his feet kicked up on the foot cushion.

“Where would you like this?” Her hand shook a little, her voice braver than she felt. It was at this moment he stood.

He was a lot taller than she had imagined when she had seen him from her cell. His skin was whiter than she had originally anticipated, his hair blacker than the raven’s feathers and fell just past his shoulders slicked back and his eyes… they were greener than the sea foam or the grass that grew in the garden.

“I’ll take it if you don’t mind.” Loki’s voice purred into her ears enticing her in.

“Thank you.” Sigyn’s voice was steady now, the tray no longer in her hand. The smell about him, why was it so familiar? And then she heard Odin’s voice in her head, reminding her of her promise to attend to his needs. “Is there anything else you require of me?”

The angel-like god was now circling her, a hum dancing upon his lips like a large jungle cat that was preparing to pounce.

“ ‘Is there anything I require of you?’ Oh Sigyn, do you not know to choose your words more carefully?”

“How do you know my na-“

“I know everything about you Sigyn, things you wouldn’t even dream of me kno-“

“THAT’S ENOUGH.” Theoric’s voice bellowed throughout the dungeons. The god didn’t look up when the voice shook through the prison, though Sigyn jumped slightly and turned to see the warrior standing before the cell. “Sigyn, please leave his cell, NOW.”

The god’s upper lip turned up again at the shiver that seemed to run down Sigyn’s spine when Theoric yelled.

“Ohh, I quite like that. Are you going to let him speak to you in such a manner?” The god continued to circle her, his fingers laced behind is back.

“I… no, I mean… he knows what’s bes-“ The girl stammered. Why could she never have the courage to say something to him when he was staring at her? She could lash her tongue all the time when they were cellmates and he had not captivated her by his gaze. What was the difference?

“Sigyn, I ORDER you out of his cell, IMMEDIATELY.”

Finally, she began to back away, the sly smile of Loki never leaving her while he could only grin wider and wider like some mad scientist the closer she got to the door. The moment she was out, Theoric began to yell at her once again.

“What were you thinking?!!?? You clearly were not or you would have not have placed yourself in such a situation. You should count yourself lucky that you are not harmed.” Theoric pulled her away by the wrist muttering the last few words.

“I guess you are truly his pet now.” Loki’s words whispered to her.

Sigyn hadn’t let her bewildered eyes drift from his face. The look he had plastered on from the moment Theoric had come was terrifying and she wished to never see it again. The doors shutting stopped the piercing green eyes from following her through the hallway, but why did she feel as if he could still see her?

“Sigyn, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.” Theoric had dropped her wrist now, obviously sorry for what he said and done. Even though his body faced away from her, she could tell he was wrestling internally with what had transpired.

“It’s okay, I underst-“

“No.” Interrupting and turning to face her now, he went to reach for her hands but recoiled as if the damage had been done. “I shouldn’t have snapped or have thought your judgment was faulty. I just… He’s very dangerous Sigyn, I have no wish for him to harm anyone else, especially you.”

The Crimson Hawk Captain’s eyes came to look up at her with tears on the verge of spilling over. The Asgardian girl reached for his hand and gave it a squeeze.

“Oh Theoric, I know you meant well. You are kinder than anyone has ever been to me here.  I thank you for that.” Her hand gave him a final squeeze before letting go.

“I wish I did not have to depart on such circumstances. I shall not be gone long. Please stay safe my Sigyn.” His hand touched her chin bringing it up to look at him.

She would have been lying to say her heart didn’t flutter at the mention of the word ‘my’ before her name.  After much thought, she reached up and kissed him delicately on the cheek, her hand lingering on the other side of his face.

“And you as well. I shall see you within two days time.”

Before Theoric could reply, Thor came around the corner.

“Ah! I have been looking everywhere for you my friend! We are all but ready to depart. Oh, my Lady, I’m sorry I did not see you there.” He dipped his head kissed her hand lightly, his smile met equally by his eyes.

“Right,” Theoric said clearing his throat and obviously feeling uncomfortable with Thor’s actions. “Let us depart.”

The two men nodded to Sigyn and turned down the hallway to meet Heimdall at the bifrost. Her heart had not recovered from her small and simple exchange between Theoric.

Did she care for him? Yes. Did she love him? It was far too early to say. Did he care for her? It appeared he did. Did he love her? Time would only tell.

These were the thoughts that were running through her mind on her back to her chambers. The room was warm; someone had started a fire in her fireplace, most likely one of the guards that had been asked to turn down her room. A blanket lay on the chair she had slept on the night before, part of her wanted to climb into bed, but the fire looked so inviting.

Pulling one of the pillows from her bed and the green blanket from the chair, she snagged a book and curled up in front of the fire. Her back against the fire began to lull her to sleep. Her mind wanted her to climb into the enticing bed just on the other side of the room, but her body cried out to stay close to the fire. In the end, the words in her book began to run together and she fell into a peaceful sleep.

---

It wasn’t the sun that awoke her the next morning but rather a shadow over her head looking through the books on the bookshelf. The floor that had felt inviting last night was stiff and uncomfortable against her back. The blanket wrapped around her and her body pressed up against the pillow.

Her eyes took several minutes to adjust but finally she saw the figure above her was a lady. It took Sigyn all but five seconds to realize it was not just some woman going through her books but the Queen of Asgard.

“My Queen.” Sigyn stood up slightly unsteady as one might be after just waking up.

The timely laugh of the Queen filled the room. “It is quite alright child, I didn’t mean to wake you. I just came in here to fetch a few books for someone.”

Starting to become more awake, Sigyn let go of the chair she had been using to steady herself while the needles in her legs dissipated. Tucking a few wisps of her golden hair behind her ear, she followed Frigga’s eyes along the spines lining the shelves.

“May I ask for whom the books are for?”

The Queen, obviously lost in thought fixated her gaze on Sigyn after a few minutes. “Have you not guessed what room you call your own now?” She replied with a look of bemusement crossing her ancient and beautiful face.

“I… I thought this was just a spare room for guests My Lady. Is it yours? I am terribly sorry and will move to another room at your wish.” The words jumbled out. The fear of being locked away, of making Odin upset or doing something to offend the crown had tumbled out with those words too and Frigga could tell.

“My dear child, you need not to fret. I am not as quick to judge as my husband.” Her hand finally selected a few books from the shelf. “And the books are for my son.”

“Thor?” Sigyn asked tentatively.

“No, Loki. This is his room.”

Sigyn held her composure but everything in her wanted to scream and jump away from everything she had touched. The man that had haunted her nightmares, though they had all but vanished lately, had been living in this very room, the room she now called her own.

“Do not look so perplexed my dear, he is not the monster everyone believes him to be.”

Sigyn could hear a twinge of sadness in her voice. It was not a secret that Frigga had always cared about Loki and had been the one to teach him magic. She seemed to be a woman of knowledge and a level head; perhaps she knew something that Sigyn didn’t.

“I do not mean to speak out of turn, but I never saw you in the cells… did you visit when I was asleep? I was just wondering how he acquired new books.” Sigyn asked, noticing that the Queen had pulled another book out and added it to her small pile that now held five books.

“No, Odin has forbidden me from seeing Loki ever again as part of his punishment. I send him these books with his meal often. That is why I hoped to catch you here in his quarters, would you give them to him for me today during your visit?”

Sigyn reached out for the books, nodding as a reply. She could tell the subject was sore, one that she did not wish to press upon further.

“How are your healing lessons with Véar and Eir?”

“Quite well, I believe that I will soon be able to help out in a regular basis with the injured from the battles across the Realms soon.”

“They are the best teachers we, have. They have much to teach you other than healing. I sense that you and Véar have become great friends?”

“Yes, we spent the first day on the roof overlooking the kingdom. It’s quite beautiful.”

Frigga nodded understandingly. “Yes, I often took Thor and Loki up there when they were bickering for them to sit in silence and relax.” Frigga smiled, lost in her own thoughts again. “I must attend to some matters, you will give these to my son and… send my love?”

Sigyn nodded, dipping her head in respect as the Queen departed.

Changing into a violet dress and fixing her hair a tad, Sigyn began to head towards the dungeons to deliver Loki’s gift and the prisoners mid-afternoon meals when the hallways suddenly became busy; something was wrong.

One warrior ran by, then another, and another.

And then, the entire palace shook and rumbled, the stone groaning in protest. Sigyn, who had started running  at this point, tripped, but caught herself in one of the window's ledges of the hallway.

And there it was, hell reigning down from a ship larger than life;

Asgard was under attack.
